Please sign into CSP and look at the new iCSP discussion "Stonewall and the CSP"

A great thread beginning and agreement that stonewall are problematic and women's rights are being overlapped by male rights

Then a HUGE ESSAY by a TRA

Sad

Bringing your whole self to work is just creepy.

I have several colleagues that I’d like to get to leave quite a lot of themselves at home

northender · 15/06/2023 12:39

Oh stealth I have one or two of those colleagues here too!!
Slightly off the overall topic, but I think it links in with the bringing your "whole self" into work thing, i am seeing a much less professional side to physios & OTs at the moment. I'm having to constantly nag remind staff about timekeeping & mobile phone use. Flexible working is being seen as a right with the expectation that work will have to fit around home life. Or maybe I'm just too old!!

RadFizz · 15/06/2023 14:15

I think what annoys me most about the concept is that it seems designed for white men who want to express a fetish, much like Leatherman.

If you're a person of colour or you have a visible disability then you haven't really got much choice except to be your "whole self" at work, and be judged for it.

I'd much rather we just brought our professional selves!

Exactly this!

Calyx72 · 15/06/2023 18:25

Agree with our professional selves being the best thing at work.

I think patients who have themselves got differences in gender identity, sexuality and so on, really don't need to (or WANT to) speak to a physio who has similarly differences. They are looking for assessment, education and rehabilitation etc not a bloody life partner.

Therapists need to be professional which of course means non-judgmental and inclusive.

I heard a rumour via a colleague that the result of that "should CSP adopt a definition of transphobia?" survey from a few months ago is that they've decided to NOT adopt a definition. So perhaps there are more GC physios than we think and they all responded to that survey!

stealtheatingtunnocks · 16/06/2023 10:36

I’d be interested in the results of that survey, I hope they publish the in frontline

Oh that is good news, hope it's true

Does anyone go to the annual reps conference? I read the motions and among them was this. Why would CSP get involved in issues around trans kids? https://www.csp.org.uk/system/files/documents/2023-05/arc2023-motions1.pdf

"Right-wing media fuelled culture war" 🙄

Exactly the right question there - what business is that of the CSP???

This chap is having the same issues with ScotGov that we are with the CSP

Rather depressingly, that motion was put forward by members rather than the organisation itself.

That's the thing with activists they spend time and energy on this and get this gender nonsense written into every profession

Have they ever heard of the Tavistock?

Maybe they'll watch eh documentary that as on tonight?

What page is that @stealtheatingtunnocks? When I copy it over I see something about nhs pay in the URL, nothing trans-related.

This one, Rad. Maybe it was a blip
Or maybe they are reading this thread and put it back up.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 26/06/2023 23:07

It was down for me too, I mean. I'm not sure that the CSP can not have noticed what is being discussed here.

I can still see it if I go from this page https://www.csp.org.uk/professional-clinical/courses-events/annual-representative-conference

It's the first link and the bit about trans kids is still there - number 28 under motions.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/06/2023 09:41

that Works for me.

who are south central regional stewards?

CSP needs a copy of the Cass review but I’m thinking they can just get on with it and Then we can have some sort of coup.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/06/2023 09:44

Saw this too. I would like to see evidence of this discrimination stain that is causing my colleagues to leave because I think it is probably just “bring your whole self to work” stuff. “Dave, could you wear less bondage gear, infection control are upset and the gimp mask isn’t covid compliant” “discrimination, I’m going off sick”

I’ve never been to arc and I don’t really know what they do thwre.

Csp communication. Is bad. How can I be a member for decades and not know that?

stealtheatingtunnocks · 27/06/2023 10:11

Last one before I go back to patients.

if a motion is raised by people who know nothing factual then is there recourse if you are a member but not a steward of the union? Twitter link to article in puberty blockers

https://twitter.com/rukhsanasukhan/status/1672991594751066112?s=46

northender · 27/06/2023 20:20

I was a regional steward many moons ago & was on the ARC committee for 2.or 3 years but again this is going back 25 years. It used to set the policy agenda for the CSP but, rightly I think, was considered to be dominated and manipulated by the stewards & H&S networks and so Phil Gray reduced its power iirc.
Not sure of its status now though
