There's nothing from any of the CSP Twitter accounts about the Scotland development. I feel like they would've been all over this a few months ago so I wonder if the tide is turning?

Yes calyx maybe not helpful but like you say sometimes that raw emotion needs to be voiced. Not sure how it will be for her professionally, a pic of her was high up on the M**l website

VIDEO DESCRIPTION

Half hour account of why one woman got her merkin out in the Scottish Parliament.

For clarity, if you can see it, that’s a vulva, if you or a wee pal are fishing around in there, that’s a vagina, and if it looks like Chewbacca then it’s a merkin. Minge is Scots for female pubic hair.

Book is Dale Spender’s “women of ideas” from the 70s. It’s Feminist political theory looking at women in History and what they said about being female. The last chapter is “reinventing rebellion”, guess I need to re-read that.

Merkin making - any kind of fake fur, textiles, printed material, knitting, embroidery, Lego, use your imagination!

Fashion into a pubic triangle shape, trim it, have a landing strip, add sequins, whatever. Attach to opaque tights with safety pins or by sewing.

Glue will work if you are at home but probably fall apart if you are walking around, though liberal hot glue gun work might be ok.

#TheWenchResistance is for examples of non violent protest, finding each other, sharing ideas and having a bit of a laugh because humour can be helpful in dark times.

If you want to make protesting content for social media then please do - but protect your anonymity if you need to.

Have an account separate from personal ones,
be mindful of your backgrounds or identifying features eg rings or tattoos.
You can edit with filters or emojis or cut images so your face is covered .

I wonder if she will get a complaint from the other members. It was quite a spectacle - was it bringing profession into dispute? I watched the video again, I love that she is shameless. Women aren’t that often shameless.

I see that someone on CSP's Facebook page, presumably a member, is accusing Elaine of transphobia and bringing the profession into disrepute.

I hope someone is counterbalancing that assertion with the massive positive impact Elaine has had in positively promoting the profession; and her impact in improving quality of life for women across their lifespan.
Coupled with promoting the profession of Physiotherapy both inside and outside the United Kingdom.

Waiting for the pile on from randoms on the Facebook post. The person who has posted isn’t on the HCPC register that I can see so not a practicing physio.

If a complaint went into the HCPC, is it not also open to others to send in testimonials?

Reported for what though? Not sure she's broken any law. Unless people were stupid enough to not realise that was a merkin!

Elaine is not a transphobe (whatever that is).
She advocates for safe and effective healthcare for trans people at every turn.
She happens to be a women's rights advocate also. This is what the TRAs can't tolerate.
