GDPR and lost "likes" on JKR's Twitter posts

Crimesean · 17/01/2022 18:39

As most of us are aware, Twitter covertly removes "likes" from posts the moderators dislike but can't ban because they're well within the rules.

I'm not an expert in GDPR law, but since I own my Twitter account (or rather the information posted), is there scope for me/other GC feminists to demand that Twitter release data on likes removed and explain why?

I'll seek legal advice before acting (which I can afford - this isn't a plea for crowdfunding!) but am wondering whether anyone has tried this tactic previously?

@newnamesa

is anyone else weirded out that the software that posters here are boasting about working for was invented by a convicted peodophile?

Im feeling really creeped out.

Terfblocker:

Well......

isn't it interesting how many posters, including at least one on this thread, have in the past told us to 'look who we are aligning ourselves with!'? They never think about how it works the other way.

And when they are reminded.... they simply disappear off that thread.

Creepy? You betcha!

Vanishun · 18/01/2022 15:56

Just to say that my "likes" for JKR's tweets vanished as well. I clicked on them repeatedly.

Maybe this does happen for every popular tweet? But in that case then surely it needs fixing.

Oh dear deleted for pointing out a fact, well, well.

She's weirdly obsessed with mumsnet.
It's hilarious to ask for legal advice. Far better to just breenge ahead pell-mell, of course.

It does tickle me when a tra gets in a pickle about some sort of lie or error in facts when trans ideology is based on lies Grin

Really, one of the worst stories was side stepped nicely in that post oo.

Namely David Challenor.

grahamlinehan.substack.com/p/the-challenor-scandal-is-not-over

ool0n · 18/01/2022 17:58

@WarriorN David Challenor is truly awful, which is why I assume the "GC" people like to try and associate him with his daughter, and anything she may or may not have done. Such as the entirely fictional involvement in blocklists on Twitter. But, right side of history eh, the "right side" is always well known for their completely transparent lies associating people with pedos Hmm

WarriorN · 18/01/2022 18:02

It doesn't really get any better though...

Allison Woolbert recently resigned as executive director of Transgender Human Rights Institute (THRI) after her 1991 conviction for First Degree Aggravated Sexual Assault. The victim was a 15-year-old relative. Woolbert was sentenced to six years for the aggravated assault for which she served four. Woolbert was 28 at the time of the offence.

Anyone fancy a game of terf blocker software jeopardy?

Yes, we now have a new Section 28 laws in Poland and Hungary from the same RW groups bemoaning queer theory, gender ideology, critical race theory, etc, stuff they don't understand so can create an anti-intellectual reactionary conservative panic about them. Great allies you got there @WarriorN ips-dc.org/the-global-right-wings-bizarre-obsession-with-pedophilia/

Helleofabore · 18/01/2022 18:15

Fact remains that a known person who was involved in software that silences women through blocking who are vocal about standing up for their rights is a MN visitor and has posted links in their contributions.

WarriorN · 18/01/2022 18:15

Nice straw man there.

I understand if a Twitter account is suspended, any likes made by the account will be removed and no longer count.

Not heard of "Terf tracker", which seems to be... uh... a blog.

Then in one tweet linked to "shinigami eyes", which is completely different extension to chrome/opera. And not created by Laurelai as alleged. All because I assume Woolbert was convicted of being a pedo. So by putting her name next to Laurelai, a rapist of two trans women that I know of, you can associate "shinigami eyes" with a pedo and a rapist without any evidence at all.

This really is a masterclass in propaganda, I have to thank you for that.

Quite true, back on topic and a way that "likes" could be legitimately "stolen" from tweets. Although do Twitter go back over really old tweets and update the numbers based on suspensions? Doubtful because it would be really expensive with little benefit.
VestofAbsurdity · 18/01/2022 18:26

There we go the patronising, belittling - you just don't understand this stuff.

I've got great allies thanks, intelligent, articulate, well educated, well read women of all colours, creeds, class, religions, abilities, disabilities, ages, marital status, sexual orientation status.

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 18/01/2022 18:27

So just to be clear, for me the main takeaway from this thread is that the person who created Terfblocker is posting here on MN’s feminism forums? Unchallenged by moderators? Yeah, this place has changed. What the actual fuck.

Helleofabore · 18/01/2022 18:33

SimonedeBeauvoirscat

But apparently we are an echo chamber and no one with different opinions can post here……

ool0n · 18/01/2022 18:35

You're not understanding much @SimonedeBeauvoirscat then, as I run the server that hosts the current @TransphobeB list and did for a little while host @Terfblocker before the twitter account was suspended. Other people compile(d) and run(ran) those lists.

What do you expect the moderators to do? Assuming the people who actually created the lists were on here - International criminals as they so clearly are Shock

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 18/01/2022 18:36

Oh that makes it so much better. Thanks Flowers
