Who chose this? In fact who invented all these flags?

Untested medication? You do... you do realise the whole point is that you don't give untested medication to patients? Hormone blockers have been given to young people who's puberty has started early for YEARS, it's far from untested, and it's the same with surgery.

So you're admitting that this medication is being used for a purpose other than that which it was tested for?

I thought it was originally developed as a cancer drug?

Oh, and are GnRH agonists not also used for chemical castration for paraphilias and sex offenders?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 14/12/2021 13:46

Insulin is a tested drug. It can also kill people.

And thalidomide is an excellent drug when used in the treatment of leprosy and some sorts of cancer.

I don't think "Oh, but it has been tested" butters many parsnips if what it was tested for is not what it's being prescribed for.

Bortles · 14/12/2021 14:03

Hahaha. Because the ideas are coming from people with the mindset of 12 year old girls? I vote glitter for 'cis' flag and a 'charity' for them called 'Unicorns'.

specialsauce · 14/12/2021 16:30

Well, despite the LGBTQ+++ community usually being quite forward in explaining their ideology, no-one seems to have come forward with an explanation as to why the cisgender flag is grey OR who decided it. They are unusually quiet. Where are they all? Helloooo?

I'd really like to design a cisgender flag! Perhaps it could just be a random arrangement of colours like all the rest...
Perhaps we could all have a go and decide on the best :)

Something borderline insulting if you think about it? And simplistic to the point of being infantile. Like the trans flag (blue is for boys and pink is for girls) and the LGBT POC one (black and brown because...well...).

So actually I think grey is possibly perfect. Or yellow? For 'vanilla' - but I think even that is a bit too metaphorical to...er...fly.

ArtemesiaK · 14/12/2021 18:19

Oh, OK.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 14/12/2021 18:40

@ArtemesiaK

Oh, OK.
The really important thing is that it should not confine itself to boring conformative rigid straight lines set horizontally. The lack of imagination on display among that lot is staggering.

Let's hear it for wavey, or barry-bendy, or barry nebuly (a favourite of mine), or maybe a saltire or two shin-bones in saltire proper, or.... And there must be adders erect in it somewhere, since the viper is not properly heraldic.

There are so many possibilities.

Although if my theory is correct that's exactly the flag we boring cis scum deserve? Especially the horizontal-ness. Because everybody knows that vanilla-cis people only do it missionary in the dark.

Can we have a round flag so that it can serve as a tablecloth, kiddies parachute and Christmas tree skirt too? I’m thinking a nice Orla Kiely type print, maybe reversible. Deffo again proof.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 14/12/2021 19:14

DS2 (15) has suggested that it's grey because of "50 shades" and that 'cishet' people are secretly the kinkiest fuckers on earth.

I'm not sure if I'm proud of the sarcasm in his voice and use of air quote fingers when saying cishet, or wondering quite what he means by "the kinkiest fuckers". In my head he's still the little boy who didn't even like me and my then BF kissing in front of him Grin

Kennykenkencat · 14/12/2021 19:24

I presume this all cost a lot of time and money.
Who actually spent time on this. Don’t they have a life.

Do they think that people outside of their small echo chamber could give a shit.

I think there are people in the world who do need to do some growing up and realise the world doesn’t revolve around them

And also Be Kind and respect my beliefs works both ways

When ever I hear any of this type of stuff I just think it comes across as incredibly childish.

KittenKong · 14/12/2021 19:31

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur - your kiddo has a sense of humour!

SeggsMatters · 14/12/2021 22:05

So according to that I'm genderqueer then is that right?

Because according to them my gender is between male and female because I like football, and play football, and can wire a plug, and can ordered things from screw fix but I also love musicals and painting my nails and make up and dressing up. Sometimes I wear trousers and flannel shirts and sometimes I wear LBD.

So I'm gender queer then right? So I can't be transphobic as I'm part of the rainbow.

Or maybe I'm just a fucking normal woman who isn't one bloody thing.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 14/12/2021 22:49

All flags are for sexualities now. This is the Deutschqueer flag 🤣🤣🤣

Why is the cisgender flag grey?
Angelwings77 · 15/12/2021 00:21

I used to have a flag! It was pretty and all the colours of the rainbow, I used to proudly wave it in the summer months. Now it's burnt to ashes in the incinerator at the bottom of the garden. Thanks a fucking lot Stonewall!

Scraggythang · 15/12/2021 09:57

@JackieWeaversZoomAc That’s worrying but hilarious in equal measure.

I think because the cisgender flag you've linked to is one particular and barely used variant. I know a lot of people who are into the flag coding and use it a lot and have never seen this grey cisgender flag ever. The only one I've seen is the blue and pink one which represents the two colours of the gender binary and I've seen that once, maybe.

I think you are arguing about something that I t really a thing and no one is coming to defend it because they don't know really what this grey flag is all about. It just seems very random.

So, good news, the LGBTQ+ community agrees with you that it's a silly flag that can be ignored!

Most grown up, mature people think they all can!

UltraVividLament · 15/12/2021 11:51

Genuinely interested in this idea. What does being into "flag coding" mean? How would someone "use it a lot" - in what contexts? How old are these people that do this?

KittenKong · 15/12/2021 12:20

Is that a job? I guess if they are into heraldry. I want a job like that...

You! Here’s your flag, take it and like it...

Can you please get them some books on vexillology and get them off the flag coders? I am so bored of them using whatever design is the default on the application they use to generate these.
