Who chose this? In fact who invented all these flags?

No such thing as cisgender. It's all bollocks and so are the wanky flags so who cares what colour it is.

specialsauce · 07/12/2021 20:45

@ImFluidLikeWater Google gave me:

Technology Related Anger
Token Ring Adjustment
Tapered Rod Approximation

I reckon it could be any of those

Google is a skill, isn't it? Oh well.

Scraggythang · 07/12/2021 20:57

It’s such childish bullshit.

specialsauce · 07/12/2021 21:03

Dangerous childrens bullshit though. They are ruining lives, infiltrating international organisations and gaslighting a whole generation.

I did see today in a news article a group being run by a TW named a 'non cis group'. And thought........how is this not offensive when there is no wording in existence that would permit female people to set such obvious boundaries?

And also thought: mate, you've not thought this one through.

KittenKong · 07/12/2021 21:31

Cos there’s no such thing as c** so they just threw up a blah flag as an insult.

Of course - I really like charcoal grey...

specialsauce · 07/12/2021 21:58

The grey flag feels like an attempt to say that if you are content with your biological sex you are BORING

I hear flag & think of Fun With Flags in The Big Bang Theory

@specialsauce

Mind you, in this depiction the cisgender flag is totally blank
It appears to be a white flag. I think it is to signify that those who identify as "cisgender" have surrendered all rational thought.

All of these lists of flags is so confusing. It was hard enough trying to learn the International Code of Signals when I used to do some sailing.

Of course. It's an attempt to reinforce that other genders are far more exciting and fun.

Although I did like the list that showed a white space. A white flag - I suppose they are hoping for surrender?

What flag does a gender heretic have?

I mean, I fucking hate flag-waving, of any stripe.

Goawayangryman · 07/12/2021 22:14

Identity politics with flags and emblems is just so very ....early 1990s. It's quite Thatcherite, I've always thought.

Mostly people online. People on reddit, tumblr, deviantart and so on generate new flags and they then get added to the specialist wiki database. I say people, but I think a lot of them are actual children.

The pace of change is speeding up now. You get new iterations of flags/symbols every few months. I honestly think teenagers online develop new identities so they can pursue their interest in vexillology and make a flag for it.

For example, the genderfluid flag in your screenshot looks like the 2012 one.

The Genderfluid Pride Flag was created in 2012 by JJ Poole(they/them), anagenderpansexual from New York state who advocates for people who do not fit into heteronormative society. They designed it to encompass all gender identities, and as such, the genderfluid flag has five horizontal stripes and five colors. The colors are:

Pink for femininity. Blue for masculinity. Purple for femininity and masculinity. Black for lack of gender. White for all genders.

In 2021, LGBTA wiki userFruitIndividualdesigned an alternate genderfluid flag that represented the fluidity and change experienced by persons with this identity in the wave pattern of lines. It is quickly catching on and may soon be the preferred genderfluid flag.

Vexatious vexillology?

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 07/12/2021 22:49

To be honest, it is vexatious! There is a terrible overuse of the five/six horizontal stripes configuration.

Eight out of 10 times that I come across a new flag online, I feel an urge to buy the designer a book of Flags of the World for their inspiration, and a beginners' guide to heraldry and vexillology.

Triphazards · 07/12/2021 23:04

They didn't use new Daz with blue whiteness?

Delphinium20 · 07/12/2021 23:15

@ItsDinah

Grey is the colour you always get if you mix all the old paint in your garage together. Try mixing paints of the colour of all the other flags together and it will turn out grey. It looks very nice if you adorn it with tasteful touches of purple,green and white.

Part of the recruitment of children. When all your friends have fun coloured pin badges and shoe laces, you don’t want to be stuck with a boring one. So you pick an identity that looks good as an accessory so you’re not left out.

WarriorN · 08/12/2021 07:14

It's deliberately dull so that children want to pick a gender.

The more who are gender variant the more it bolsters those who use the whole thing as a guise for grooming.

Lisa Littman described a study on kids bullying those who didn't conform to the TQ umbrella in Last week's wider lens podcast.

Velvian · 08/12/2021 07:21

A flag to emphasise just how dull female humans that identify as women are. And a reminder that we are no longer allowed to call ourselves women.

Velvian · 08/12/2021 07:23

I am a woman and female, but I'm certainly not cis gender; I have not had and do not have an untroubled relationship with the expectations of me, based upon my gender (based upon my sex if we are honest).
