Who chose this? In fact who invented all these flags?

@Velvian

A flag to emphasise just how dull female humans that identify as women are. And a reminder that we are no longer allowed to call ourselves women.
Not entirely true - we’re allowed to call ourselves women when talking about the ‘social’ category that has two sub-categories (cis and trans), aren’t we? When that would be a useful categorisation of people I don’t know, mind...

@OhDear2200 this?

Why is the cisgender flag grey?

@ChristmasPlanning

I hear flag & think of Fun With Flags in The Big Bang Theory
If you've never seen Tim Vine's old stand up routine which includes Flag Hippo, I heartily recommend (I'd link, but I can't access YouTube at work).
Whatthechicken · 08/12/2021 13:42

The obsession with flags makes my generation and those that came before seem very adventurous. We went to raves, followed bands around, hunted high and low for their back catalogue and rare imports, slept in fields with 50,000 others, left home as soon as possible, maybe we joined the socialist party - those were our obsessions.

specialsauce · 08/12/2021 13:50

Yes @Whatthechicken! Left home at 16, had such adventures! Wouldnt change it. If only these young people would put their energy into something more positive!

Is this the 21st century replacement for religion?

Artichokeleaves · 08/12/2021 14:18

@OatALot

Is this the 21st century replacement for religion?
* Faith based position (don't ask questions, you won't be able to understand it, you have to believe)
  • everyone has an internal essence not related to their body that entered it at birth (and sometimes goes into the wrong one) so apparently exists before birth and enters the physical form

  • transubstantiation - belief and ritual transform the flesh from one thing to something else entirely

  • heresy and blasphemy - those who sin by language or lack of faith or holding different beliefs are damned eternally and can never atone (and certainly are not tolerated to exist or speak their blasphemous words)

  • sacred people who are leaders and cannot be held to the same standards and expectations as everyone else, or questioned

Yeah, I think we're there really.

It's why really this whole situation now needs to be dealt with as a religious tolerance issue.

specialsauce · 08/12/2021 14:44

Plus total lack of science based evidence

@Storminamu

Apparently there are some different designs. Some people are obsessed with flags.
When I was about eight I went through a phase of designing flags for practically everything. I grew out of it.
WhenSepEnds · 08/12/2021 14:56

Didn't even know there was a fog for this

KittenKong · 08/12/2021 16:04

Yup - it’s a fog alright.

Scraggythang · 08/12/2021 16:28

I obviously understand there are adults who want to benefit from pushing kids into thinking about their sexuality and ‘gender identity’. This is a very accessible and alluring way to do it. I can see why that is. As can we all.

But to the other adults who go along with this, I really cannot get my head around that.

MrsMadderRose · 08/12/2021 16:55

I know. How can you really, genuinely not see that this is a trend that can have very harmful consequences for kids and that insisting it must always be affirmed and acted on is utterly irresponsible?

I think the only explanation is that so many people are still stuck in fear-of-bigotry mode, and are convinced that they must show how nice and caring they are by not questioning this, because (as they have been brainwashed into thinking) it's just the same as being gay. They've also been brainwashed into thinking that any attempt to point out problems or concerns is bigoted transphobic hate, so tey can't listen to that, or ever do that.

viques · 08/12/2021 17:10

I am going to dig out my old prefect badge and repurpose it to say perfect. It’s green because that was my house colour ( girls grammar with pretensions)

Scraggythang · 08/12/2021 17:28

@MrsMadderRose i think that too and we can discuss it until the cows come home, all of us here. But although I know the reasons that people go along with it and sometimes actively embrace it, I still cannot imagine working in an environment where I wouldn’t wrinkle my nose and go “WTF” if this came up as something serious that demanded respect. Especially if that place was a school and I was that adult. But many do. I suppose I’m in a lucky situation where I don’t have to hide my feelings out of fear.

CalamariGames · 08/12/2021 17:34

Was it designed by Mrs Hinch?

NitroNine · 08/12/2021 18:38

NekoShiro · 08/12/2021 18:44

Because they are made up by children/teenagers for fun, they want to design something, it's not official.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/12/2021 23:38

Making the "cisgender" flag a dull grey while all the other flags are bright colours is a social pressure verging on bullying, whether children did it or not. It's likely only children and those heavily invested in identity politics who would care.

StellaAndCrow · 09/12/2021 01:09

@lovelyweathertoday

But to be cisgender you have to believe in gender identities. I am definitely not cisgender, I do not feel that I have an inner identity that matches the gendered expectations of women.

I doubt any feminists are cisgender. By stonewall's definition I would be trans non-binary.

It's all nonsense so I don't believe in that, I am simply a woman.

"I am definitely not cisgender, I do not feel that I have an inner identity that matches the gendered expectations of women."

That's really well put, thank you lovelyweather

Warmduscher · 09/12/2021 07:57

@NekoShiro

Because they are made up by children/teenagers for fun, they want to design something, it's not official.
On what planet would children think “having fun” meant designing flags to represent the gender identity of (mostly) adults?
WhoWants2Know · 09/12/2021 08:25

I don't get the point this kind of flag. I'm not a country, I'm not marching into war. I'm not doing semaphore. Why would I need a flag?

KittenKong · 09/12/2021 08:26

Who is going to draw that all over the cover of their maths jotter?
