@MargaritaPie

I think Stonewall might need a little donation too, seems like tough times for the LGBT community.

Stonewall look to me the best LGBT charity to donate to, for starters one won't get thrown out of a gay pride event for wearing Stonewall attire to it...

Thanks for the reminder Flowers. I agree this is a very difficult time for LGBT people.

For people who wish to help the T, donate to Stonewall or any other LGBT org.

If you would like to support LGB people:
donate.lgballiance.org.uk/ or you can set up your Amazon account to donate a wee bit every time you shop.

The young man you were referring to didn't get "thrown out", he had to ask for a police escort to protect him from a mob of violent thugs so he could leave safely.

The same Stonewall that are being sued by a lesbian barrister along with her chambers for victimisation and/or indirect discrimination because of her (now protected) beliefs, and sex/sexual orientation? That Stonewall?!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/10/2021 09:55

Stonewall that a host of major U.K. organisations are leaving, like rats jumping from a sinking ship?

KittenKong · 08/10/2021 10:30

Maybe she has a time machine and wants to donate to them 10 years ago. I’m sure they don’t want bad lesbian money these days...

Yes. Like her discussion point, they all seem to be the precise opposite of anything that has actually happened or been said!

Maybe she lives through the Looking Glass!

May I ask why?

In general, I find it disappointing when people resist the supported encouragement towards developing their critical thinking or discussion skills.

KittenKong · 08/10/2021 11:46

Some people don’t want to debate or engage.

Usually I would agree, in this case I fear that approach is pointless

KittenKong · 08/10/2021 12:50

Pigeons and chess, eh?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/10/2021 13:23

May I ask why?

Of course you may! Jump righ on in...

In general, I find it disappointing when people resist the supported encouragement towards developing their critical thinking or discussion skills.

And that is precisely why Margerite's attempts at Gotcha's are such a joy. The concerted effor to ignore all attempts at discourse shine through so very brightly.

Or have you only read that one response, one response that was light hearted, exasperated, and chosen to ignore all the others that directly respond to every point Margerite chose to raise?

Pigeon chess, indeed!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/10/2021 13:25

@KittenKong

Some people don’t want to debate or engage.
... and some people spend an inordinate amount of time and effort engaging fully.

... others just plop down short, pithy sentences...

Those who want to do some gardening - try a name and .uk on the end.

MargaritaPie · 08/10/2021 14:17

"And I believe the gay man at the Pride march wasn’t thrown out but left for fear of his own safety with the police. Because he had a whole protest group at the march abusing him and he was assaulted"

He wasn't literally picked up and thrown out no, but a large crowd did chant "trans lives matter" at him until he left.

As for assaulted he had his beanie hat (which had the name of a hate group on it) pinched. I don't know if that qualifies as "assault" legally, probably more theft.

MargaritaPie · 08/10/2021 14:18

"to protect him from a mob of violent thugs"

You mean a crowd of young LBGT people and their allies who don't want a hater amongst them?

I do hope you know that anonymity will not necessarily protect you from libel, nor indeed for being reported for a hate crime.

Calling a LGB charity a "hate group" might fall under both those offences.

And, yes, what happened to him could fall under legal definition of assault and there you are defending it!

Violent thugs

An LGB charity that compares LGBT inclusion to bestiality?

www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/08/19/lgb-alliance-charity-commission-tweet/

"there you are defending it"

Aren't you defending an individual awaiting trial for charges which include charges with homophobia and transphobia aggravators?

MargaritaPie · 08/10/2021 14:46

For what it's worth, I don't condone his little hat being stolen. But IMO people who attend an event wanting to have a good time do have a right to voice their concerns if someone wearing attire with the slogan of a group which is, shall we say, not in the best interests of the purpose of the event.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/10/2021 14:51

But only if the are the right kind of LGB. Amiright?

yourhairiswinterfire · 08/10/2021 14:53

An LGB charity that compares LGBT inclusion to bestiality?

C'mon now, you know this is complete bollocks, you tried this on another thread. How is OBJECTING to bestiality being added to the LGBT+ alphabet ''comparting LGBT inclusion to bestiality'', exactly? Everyone should be against that shit! Aren't you?

An LGB charity that compares LGBT inclusion to bestiality?

Sigh. It wasn't them doing that, they were commenting on this:

www.cambridge.org/core/journals/hypatia/article/abs/lgbtqz/85A2B98B6708318C7C7DAAE40D15D4C9#

"LGBTQ…Z

Abstract: In this essay, I draw the discourses around bestiality/zoophilia into the realm of queer theory in order to point to a new form of animal advocacy, something that might be called, in shorthand, loving animals. My argument is quite simple: if all interdicts against bestiality depend on a firm notion of exactly what sex is (and they do), and if queer theory disrupts that firm foundation by arguing that sexuality is impossible to define beforehand and pervades many different kinds of relations (and it does), then viewing bestiality in the frame of queer theory can give us another way to conceptualize the limitations of human exceptionalism. By focusing on transformative connections between humans and animals, a new form of animal advocacy emerges through the revolutionary power of love."

nauticant · 08/10/2021 14:56

Others beat me to it but I'll post what I'd written in any case.

For anyone puzzled by that post, and worried out what it might mean, don't worry, it's a misrepresentation of the facts. The facts are that queer theory types are suggesting that perhaps the LGBT umbrella be broadened to included the Z, ie bestiality. The LGB Alliance took issue with this as being unacceptable, and also that it would damage the public perception of homosexual and bisexual people.

This is now being presented by trans activitsts as the LGB Alliance being horrible by saying that LGBT inclusion in some way leads to bestiality, when it was actually proposed by trans activists and it's the LGB Alliance saying it's wrong. Presenting what's happened in this way is a very DARVO thing to do, but that's trans activists for you.

MargaritaPie · 08/10/2021 15:02

Well Twitter did remove LGBA's tweet for "hateful conduct" and the charity commission did speak to them about it.
