Wish I knew which rights I was 'hoarding'.

Fixed it for Lammysaurus.

The Conservatives are coming after your human rights. We will defend them as long as they don't include the ones previously reserved for bodies with vaginas . They are coming after Judicial Review. We will defend it except when a JR is used as a means to challenge policies that undermine the rights of the class with vaginas. We're OK with defunding or interfering with those in any way we can: we'd actively support this optimisation strategy. Whatever rights the Tories come for, UKLabour will be there to defend them - Except for the notorious oppressor class of bodies with cervices, they need to be stripped for their accretions and hoards.

Can anyone advise me on what my best option is a member of the Labour Party? I am on the verge of cancelling my membership (form filled in and ready to go) and Lammy's comments feel like the final straw.

But

I hope the Labour Women's Declaration talk this evening went well, and I hope they restore your faith in the Labour Party. The very fact you have a "but" in there means you still have hope. I don't share that hope, and my final straw was a couple years ago, hence ditching party membership.

I can't see this getting better in the Labour Party for some time. There isn't even a contender for party leader who isn't subject to ideological capture.

Cismyfatarse · 28/09/2021 21:58

#hoardingrights on Twitter is well worth jumping on. Some brilliant pots and jars full of rights.

RedToothBrush · 28/09/2021 22:10

Earlier today:

Nick Cohen @NickCohen4
Rosie Duffield appears at Labour Women's rights rally in Brighton to huge applause. Party refused to allow organisers to appear on the official fringe.

"Here we are in 2021 and we have to form a group called Lesbian Labour just to be heard "

Warns Starmer he is taking women in the Labour movement for granted.

My impression from the conference is that this issue is about to explode unless the leadership admits there's a conflict of rights and starts thinking about how to resolve it.

This evening:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58724514
Women's and trans rights are not in conflict, says Angela Rayner

Yes Angela. Thats why there is a fringe conference, Lammy has to call women of a certain age name and there's so many column inches generated this week over this fuckwittery, sexism, homophobia and denial of biology by Labour.

You keep on with that line.

This is going to run and run...

Fitt · 28/09/2021 23:53

Women's and trans rights are not in conflict, says Angela Rayner

Fascinating!

Every single bloody thing going on in the country is a conflict to Angela but that's just fine?

RedToothBrush · 28/09/2021 23:58

Theres not a conflict.

Apart from the protests going on and the abuse being hurled at women for not sucking it up unquestioningly.

Fitt · 29/09/2021 00:07

Fabulous comment stolen from elsewhere.

I like the modern Labour Party. It’s like visiting a rather run down zoo.

The thing is, although that is funny, it brings out the 'humourless lesbian' in me.

They're fucking about losing votes and spitting in the face of all their former and most of their current voters, they're driving away the kind of women who give up their energy and spare time to organise at local level, they're encouraging some viciously spiteful twitter activists to spew hatred, and in doing all of this are letting people down. The government has no opposition, the voters have no choice, there's no centre-left or left party for people who like democratic socialism and a mixed economy, or people who are frightened about what further cutbacks to the NHS and the welfare state might mean.

They're fucking about like some kind of student debating club and they're wasting everyone's time. And members' money!

Louisianna16 · 29/09/2021 05:03

Would be interested to know what Harriet Harman thinks of this bollox from Labour.

EdgeOfACoin · 29/09/2021 06:17

Harriet Harman has hitched her wagon to some very dodgy organisations in the past. I'm not sure how much I would trust her judgment.
KittenKong · 29/09/2021 08:23

R4 now - lying about suicide stats. Not being challenged as usual. Ffs... I always found this man... challenging.

KittenKong · 29/09/2021 08:23

Grrrrr. He is just detailing the convo. As usual. Won’t answer the question. Won’t back up his comments or labours commwnta.

7H9g5Kj · 29/09/2021 08:25

Nick Robinson pushing him but he refuses to engage and is coming across like a tantrumming toddler. Shouting that it doesn’t come up on the doorstep. Just you wait Lammy. We women have been afraid to speak about it up until now (because people on your side try to get us fired from our jobs) but now the floodgates have opened. Twat.

PutYourBackIntoit · 29/09/2021 08:26

Awful listening to him on R4.

So angry to have to talk about his own comment, but where is his anger for the diabolical children's mental health services??

Jaysmith71 · 29/09/2021 08:28

Hattie's experience at NCCL ought to make her more aware of this. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....

KittenKong · 29/09/2021 08:28

If you say it, own it, Lamysausus.

Thelnebriati · 29/09/2021 08:29

Yes this!

Artichokeleaves · 29/09/2021 08:32

Why do interviewers just let these lies roll?

Pretty much every woman on FWR knows these statistics are false flags, its basic knowledge, why are paid researchers and interviewers apparently so bloody clueless?

Does anyone, anywhere in this media/politics bubble actually have any basic competence? I'm increasingly thinking you could form a quick coalition of our local lollipop lady, the guy that runs the greengrocers, a member of staff from the village hall toddler group and someone from the tills at Tesco and we'd see a staggering shift in intellect, competence and basic ability to run a country while in possession of a brain.

Jaysmith71 · 29/09/2021 08:34

R4: I want More Less to deal with these suicide stats, and Rutherford (geneticist) and Fry (mathematician) to deal with "Sex is a spectrum."

CriticalCondition · 29/09/2021 08:51

Good work by Nick Robinson but I'm going to email and say he really, really needs to look into those dodgy suicide statistics. He didn't let it divert him but it's about time they were challenged.

PronounssheRa · 29/09/2021 08:58

David Lammy tells TimesRadio that he wasn’t talking about Rosie Duffield when he referred to “dinosaurs” in the Labour Party, but then declined to say she was not a dinosaur. So there you go.

RoyalCorgi · 29/09/2021 08:58

It drives me up the wall. Time and again, interviewees make false claims about suicide statistics, and they are NEVER challenged. Why aren't people like Nick Robinson et al doing the job they are paid to do? Robinson isn't stupid, and he understands enough about this issue to have grasped what the different arguments are. But he and other journalists need to put a stop to these lies about suicide because they are not only false, they are positively harmful.

catzwhiskas · 29/09/2021 09:00

Labour not doing well on women’s rights now available for all to see/ hear. I have always thought Lammy was considered and thoughtful in relation to other issues but on this they will never get my vote.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 29/09/2021 09:01

But he and other journalists need to put a stop to these lies about suicide because they are not only false, they are positively harmful.

Wholly agree. I can see that they're telling themselves that they don't want to 'take sides' but this is about suicide myths.

As somebody pointed out to me however when I wondered why Samaritans weren't asking for broadcasters to observe their guidelines - the CEO is ex-CEO of Girl Guides…

RedToothBrush · 29/09/2021 09:03

So he's condoning and encouraging the abuse of Duffield.

Pig.
