I think maybe we should all start saying "transperson" -- after all, it goes with "transfolx" and so on. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, etc.

I suspect that isn't exactly what is desired, though -- since then the "validation" of "man" or "woman" is lost, and the "transperson" rendered ungendered, as it were.

I think if we all started withholding the gender validation by saying the gender neutral "transperson" instead, a large part of the attraction of replacing "women" with "people" and "person" would swiftly disappear. After all, the last thing anyone trans wants is not to be gendered at all, surely?

I wonder if there is anyone left involved with ACLU who will be horrified by this? Or are they all fully signed up to the whole set of beliefs? It could open the eyes of a few who hadn't been able to see where it is going.

Agree. No idea where they are spectrum/fluid(personally) so I think that's safest.

The emphasis on trans rights is quite remarkable. Of the 22 tweets posted by the ACLU on 21st September, 5 were about transgender issues.

I forget where I saw it, but someone somewhere counted how many tweets ACLU posted about various issues over a certain period of time. Trans rights was in the lead by a significant margin.

Good grief AngeloMysterioso That's ridiculous given what they're meant to stand for.

This pattern replicated across loads of MPs, pundits, lgbtqi+ campaigners and orgs, the police, feminist orgs, I mean the list is endless.

It would be fascinating to watch and think how the hell did this happen. If it wasn't for the small fact that it means rights for female people, our issues etc can no longer be discussed or raised in any meaningful way. And when they are raised eg abortion USA an extremely large number of orgs etc seem to be hugely more interested in talking about wording than the actual issue.
