I wish they'd put it in the main paper rather than the Scotland section:

(I was driving one time when Count Arthur Strong came on the radio and I had to pull over as I was laughing so much I wasn't safe to drive. True story. Really Glinner has given so much joy to the world.)

DismantledKing · 05/09/2021 14:15

@Pudmyboy

I love Count Arthur Strong on the radio, does anyone know if Glinner get paid for that, or only for the TV show?
I think he only co-wrote the TV show. I loved that too.
IsadoraQuagmire · 05/09/2021 14:17

Thankyou for all you do @Glinner
We think the world of you Flowers

ShitShop · 05/09/2021 14:27

@OldTurtleNewShell

I think I want "The house is on fire" on a t shirt.

One of the reasons Linehan is seen as such a threat by trans activists is because he is such a talented writer.
He has an unerring sense of the absurd and puts across the nub of the issue with clarity and humour.
Being called out for their crap and getting people to laugh at it? No wonder TRAs hate him so much.

Yes! The new adult human female t shirt. The house is on fire!

Thank you @Glinner for everything you’ve done. You are appreciated. It’s taken such a toll that nobody would blame you for taking a break from it all. But you are that rare thing - a man who truly cares about women. There aren’t many of you about and it seems we need a man to speak up for anyone to take any notice. Shit as it is. FlowersWineBrewCakeGin whatever is your tipple, I raise a glass/cup/plate to you.

Glinner · 05/09/2021 15:10

Count Arthur did so poorly when it was on the BBC that I'm still paying off the advance for writing it and don't get any money from Netflix. So spreading the word that it's on there would be hugely appreciated!

Wait, you don’t get any money from Netflix when they put a show you wrote on there? Shock I don’t know how all that works but it seems very wrong.

I’m on the last series of Count Arthur Strong now, really enjoying it!

Glinner · 05/09/2021 15:20

delighted it's found a new audience! the BBC didn't have a clue what to do with it

Saucery · 05/09/2021 15:21

Maybe if the BBC had promoted Count Arthur Strong as much as they do Mrs Brown’s Boys it would have done better. It’s an injustice it’s not more appreciated.

Thank you for all you do, Glinner, and I’ll stop being huffy on your behalf about the perceived personal remarks in the article if they don’t bother you Grin

Marjorine · 05/09/2021 15:53

Up with this sort of thing.

Thanks, Graham.

Grimbelina · 05/09/2021 16:12

Up with this sort of thing

Love it.

Thank you Graham.

BlibBlabBlob · 05/09/2021 16:16

Another massive thank you from me, Glinner. Human females everywhere owe you a great deal, even if they don't all see it yet.

ValancyRedfern · 05/09/2021 16:20

Thank you from me too Glinner.

OhWhatsTheDifference · 05/09/2021 16:21

Keep 'er lit, Graham.
I watched you in the Freedom of Expression Online Inquiry (Communications and Digital Commitee) and I'm so glad the Times has now done this article on you. You are fighting for something bigger than yourself, the ability to speak out is our biggest superpower.

LizzieSiddal · 05/09/2021 17:45

Thank you Glinner. You’re a bloody legend.

Waitwhat23 · 05/09/2021 18:04

Thanks from me too. For putting yourself in the line of fire for what you know is right.

Igneococcus · 05/09/2021 19:07

The most recommended comment (by Lady Gargoyle) has currently 670 recommends, and there are many with similar numbers, all supportive. That is huge for an article in the Scotland section of the Times. I don't think I have ever seen that many outside the main news or comment section.

A few times in my life I was very lucky. One of those times was being in the studio audience for Father Ted (the roller skating one). It was a privilege!

Off to find Count Arthur StrongGrin

endofthelinefinally · 05/09/2021 20:03

My fried put a Count Arthur Strong episode on for me. I hadn't seen it before. That was the first time I laughed since I lost my son. Thank you Graham.

Nachthex · 05/09/2021 20:59

endofthelinefinally - I am so sorry to read of your loss Flowers and glad that laughter is helping you through it.

Ghislainedefeligonde · 05/09/2021 21:01

Another person adding my wholehearted thanks to Glinner for his amazing bravery. I’m sorry it’s come at such a high price for you but at least you can sleep at night knowing you are in the right, and you are helping with this battle to regain women’s rights to single sex spaces as well as helping to protect vulnerable children from making life changing decisions based on lies and misinformation

Ides · 05/09/2021 21:13

"All I can do is keep ringing the bell because, as far as I’m concerned, this is second only to climate change as being the most important thing happening today. It’s an absolute onslaught on women’s rights, they’re actually returning them to the pre-suffragette era."

What could be a more balanced statement than that? Everyone knows just how many millions of men are flocking into women's toilets and changing rooms, dressed as women, in order to oppress them. It isn't the ruling class who are oppressing women and attacking their rights, it's transgender women.

endofthelinefinally · 05/09/2021 21:28

I would love a tee shirt with " the house is on fire" on it. Maybe something can be arranged?

guinnessguzzler · 05/09/2021 21:33

Thing is, I saw a fire getting put out by the fire service just the other day. Before they arrived it looked big and scary. Then one guy hopped out the engine and hosed it down like he was watering his garden. Nae bother. With the right people, we'll put the fire out, nae bother.
