Is trending at number 1 in the UK at present. I haven't been around all day so I'm not sure what this has happened in response to and came here to find out, but there aren't any threads. Heart breaking reading these stories and the effects on rape victims who can't access support services because they've been excluded by male-centring policy.

you are talking about a trans woman, not a man. I'd ask but you'd wield the ban hammer!

Ah, go on!

What's the material difference between a transwoman and a man?

CatherinaJTV · 10/08/2021 20:45

A trans woman is a woman, a man is a man.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/08/2021 20:45

Are we still not allowed to say that, even after Forstater?

Or is it that we aren't allowed to say it about a specific person?

Doyoumind · 10/08/2021 20:46

I see the monitors have arrived.

Apparently only the 'usual transphobes' are commenting Hmm

I've had a good look at the hastag and there are a tiny handful of posts supporting the comments of MW and over 11k voicing concerns.

So sick of everything to do with women's rights being framed as transphobic.

So many threads on twitter popping up about this man and how he got his job.

what positive comes from this pile on for a young woman who got raped and is looking for help right now? You are creating barriers and there is nothing constructive about this

Why does this sound like 'look what you made me do'? I absolutely agree the decisions made which promote the validation of men at the expense of rape victims is a barrier to them receiving the support they need.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/08/2021 20:47

@CatherinaJTV

A trans woman is a woman, a man is a man.
No.. that doesn't answer what I asked.

Think again.

Materially how can you support your ideology?

It really is up to you to prove your assertion. You are the one trying to change our understanding of the basics of human reality.

ClaraMumsnet · 10/08/2021 20:49

Hi all, we're just posting to remind you of our trans rights moderation policy. Please post within these guidelines to avoid your posts being removed, as we've already had to remove a number of posts.

Jaysmith71 · 10/08/2021 20:50

"A trans woman is a woman"

In order for this statement to be true, you need to supply a defintion of 'woman'

corkernewyorker · 10/08/2021 20:52

I identify as a cat, therefore as a trans cat I AM a cat.

MaudTheInvincible · 10/08/2021 20:52

There is no way to define women to include trans women which isn't gynophobic and reliant on sexist stereotypes.

OP posts:
StillWeRise · 10/08/2021 20:53

that 'reply' by rape crisis scotland completely fails to address the issue, namely, what their CEO said publicly.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/08/2021 20:54

A trans woman is a woman, a man is a man.

That's your belief, not mine, as protected by the Equality Act 2010. Read the transcript of the Guilty Feminist podcast and you will see that Mridul Wadhwa believes rape survivors should be challenged if they don't accept males as women. That's why women are so angry and will continue to speak up. This isn't going to stop. You can't make people believe what you do.

For Women Scotland have been posting on FB.
Apparently the aforementioned person lied in the job application, as it clearly stated women only in accordance with the equality act and that person applied anyway. He doesn't even have a GRC (not that, that makes much of a difference). Surely lying on a job application means instant dismissal if it's discovered after appointment.

A decent person wouldn't take a job that involves helping vulnerable people if they knew their appointment would make those vulnerable people uncomfortable. If you cared, you just wouldn't do this. I can't get my head round their motives and the motives if the people who appointed.

Jaysmith71 · 10/08/2021 20:58

If I am whatever I say I am, what if I say I'm a liar?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 10/08/2021 20:59

I assume MN towers mean the “moderation principles for discussion around sex and gender” which is the actual title rather than “trans rights moderation policy”

This is about promoting & advocating the rights of women and girls

CatherinaJTV · 10/08/2021 21:01

Nothing you say helps young women who have been raped. The recent anti-trans protest action to flood Rape Crisis Scotland line with vexatious calls will have actually prevented rape victims from getting help.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/08/2021 21:02

The recent anti-trans protest action to flood Rape Crisis Scotland line with vexatious calls will have actually prevented rape victims from getting help. - what on earth are you referring to?

You are on some crusade, but you are not helping women access support. It's as easy as that.
CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/08/2021 21:03

Sorry @ClaraMumsnet It is difficult to see what was wrong.

Sweeping generalisation? But transwomen are biologically men/male. A 'belief' upheld in law.

Aggressive/derogatory? The Monitors haven't complained about posts that could be derogatory... just the ones that mention biology.

It's all getting very convoluted again!

Theeyeballsinthesky · 10/08/2021 21:03

What really doesn’t help any women who has been raped is someone born male telling them to ‘reframe their trauma’

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/08/2021 21:03

I think MNHQ named it as they understand it. And yes, the monitors are seething in the sunlight.

Chickenyhead · 10/08/2021 21:04

Women by sex have the right to say no to males by sex.

Humans cannot change biological sex.

Women matter too.

CatherinaJTV · 10/08/2021 21:04

In any case - I've gone and donated to Edinburgh Rape Crisis and I see that many others have too, so maybe there's something good yet to come from your preoccupation with a trans woman's GRC.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/08/2021 21:04

What really doesn’t help any women who has been raped is someone born male telling them to ‘reframe their trauma’

Quite.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/08/2021 21:05

@CatherinaJTV do you genuinely believe that Mridul Wadhwa"s words in the interview with the Guilty Feminist will be helping women to access RCS's services? Knowing now that if they can't cope with dealing with a male-bodied counsellor, they will be called a bigot and be "re-educated" to reframe their trauma in order to continue with counselling?
