Someone definitely called it wrong. They could have said nothing but no, they had to tell us what to believe. Ho hum. It’s all down to the bottom line. Let’s see how it works out for them.

Jaysmith71 · 03/08/2021 10:09

Congratulations on your three no-lifts and unclassified placing???

I know it's the taking part and not the winning, but I think the taking part requires some sort of score on the board, if only for lifting a medium sized cotton bud.

ArabellaScott · 03/08/2021 10:10

What, this Dove?

www.bellanaija.com/2017/10/dove-apologizes-racist-facebook-ad/

KittenKong · 03/08/2021 10:12

Oh yes. And that ad did actually show various types of people morphing onto others - but they were fast to backtrack and apologise.

I wonder...

RedDogsBeg · 03/08/2021 10:12

@nzborn

I am going to grab all the unilevier products in my house and send them back to the marketing department does anyone know how l can find their address.
That's a damn good idea.
QueenStromba · 03/08/2021 10:14

[quote HarryLimeFoxtrot]Unilever own a lot of brands:

Ah bugger. Can anyone recommend something similar to St Ives facial scrubs, simple moisturiser and a gluten free stock cube?

QueenStromba · 03/08/2021 10:16

@littlbrowndog

Ok mini magnums are off. Gawd I love them. The Aldi and Lidl one don’t do it

Tesco,do a dead nice ice cream on a stick with almonds and stuff but only bigger ones. They were very good

ASDA and Morrisons both do own brand mini Magnums.
KittenKong · 03/08/2021 10:21

Of anyone is going to send products back to the marketing department... please make sure you mark it clearly who to. You don’t want some exec opening a bin against full of squishy mixtures.

I worked for somewhere that was (incorrectly) targeted by the anti vivisectionists. The stuff those creeps used to send through the post! I had to stop my assistant opening the mail.

KittenKong · 03/08/2021 10:24

I’ve checked Unilever - phew, just Helmans and simple (eye makeup remover). I’ll make my own Mayo and would rather use wire wool to remove my mascara. So many brands in these...

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 03/08/2021 10:38

I usually use Dove showergel and deodorant, but this thread has inspired me to look for local alternatives.

#Dovehateswomen should really be trending.

ThatLibraryMiss · 03/08/2021 12:04

Oil cleanse with a knitted cotton/linen facecloth
Neutrogena hydro boost moisturiser, or Aldi sometimes do a version
Marigold bouillon powder

Whatwouldscullydo · 03/08/2021 12:33

Why can't people just sell products ffs.

Its all bollocks anyway because if you look at their foreign twitter feeds in some countries their will be none of this. They don't change their profile pics to rainbows or whatever.

If they were really that invested they would.

I dont want to be preached at I just want to buy something that doesn't refer to me as a uterus haver or think I'm nothing but a collection of thoughts inside a males head.

StrangeLookingParasite · 03/08/2021 16:04

Sorry, just thinking about replacements for that stupid company's products...is La Roche Posay hard to get or expensive over there? Because their Deodorant physiologique 24hr is really good.

Dove cheer on Hubbard.
boatyardblues · 03/08/2021 16:55

@stealthninjamum

Sainsbury’s yeast product is a good alternative to marmite. I stopped buying marmite a few years ago because they donated to stonewall.
They do a reduced salt version too (blue lid). It’s a bit runnier but spreads well.

Oh fuck. Persil. It's our safe powder in a house full of skin conditions and we've tried them all (that are within our budget).

LemonSwan · 03/08/2021 22:32

something similar to St Ives facial scrubs

Dermalogica do an incredible microfoliant. Its much more effective than St Ives without the damage that St Ives does.

It seems more expensive but it lasts an absolute life time. Just buy the small bottle.

I need a replacement for DPs Dove Care+ Men Roll on Deodorant. Anyone?

SusannaM · 03/08/2021 22:42

I use Nivea roll-on, nice glass recyclable bottle, I'm pretty sure there's a man's version.

littlbrowndog · 03/08/2021 22:44

Aldi do good roll ons. I don’t notice the sex differences in their stuff. Just works well 59p good price

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/08/2021 22:45

Mitchum Roll on

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 03/08/2021 22:50

@LemonSwan - that doesn’t help as Dermalogica are also owned by Unilever.

AfternoonToffee · 03/08/2021 23:17

It actually gets incredibly difficult to boycott a brand (any brand, any reason) as so often they are interlinked with others. If you then want to go further and boycott shop brands manufactured by said brand it becomes even harder.

I don't use Amazon, that is fairly easy to achieve, some people on Twitter are boycotting Sainsbury's because of their advertising on GB News, that for most would be achievable, though maybe an inconvenience. Some items are easily substituted at a similar price point, however for many it can, financially, be an unachievable goal.

I'm not even sure of the point of my post, but sometimes just doing what you can do, given whatever circumstances you are in, is enough. (I think that's it, it's late, the sun has got to me a bit and I have a headache.)

LemonSwan · 03/08/2021 23:37

@HarryLimeFoxtrot

You are flipping kidding me!

I did search Dermalogica and 'trans' and nothing came up.

Well thats changed things for me. I will continue to use Dermalogica until the actual company Dermalogica itself says something which makes me boycott them directly.

I am going to have enough issues boycotting Dove let alone my beloved Dermalogica. Let the individual companies suffer I say. And when Unilever looks at their overall books - perhaps they as a higher body can dictate some sanity on their woke brands.

LemonSwan · 03/08/2021 23:40

Thanks @littlbrowndog @SusannaM @BoreOfWhabylon

I shall inflict my feminist boycotting on DPs underarms. Weirdly he only sweats from his head so its probably not needed anyway.

PickAChew · 03/08/2021 23:42

@ChakaDakotaRegina

Body positive ‘love the skin your in’ Dove is now keen to tell us to change bodies with hormones and change birth certificates and change everyone else’s ability to participate in sport and change everyone else’s language in order to spare the feelings of a fully grown, able bodied, white adult male?
Yup. You couldn't make it up.
