@SusannaM

Oh fuck. Persil. It's our safe powder in a house full of skin conditions and we've tried them all (that are within our budget).
Daz. It's surprisingly bland for a bio powder. And not too heavily perfumed.
PickAChew · 03/08/2021 23:48

Though proctor and gable seem to have also been beaten by the woke stick.

NiceGerbil · 03/08/2021 23:54

In the end this is about individual ethics.

I doubt (sorry) that enough will avoid these massive brands totally, to make a dent.

Taking a personal stance is always important though.

liloandstench · 03/08/2021 23:55

It's the fact they could've just said nothing. Why do these brands insist on showing how support for a controversial political opinion?

They really could've just celebrated another female shelter but they just need to pander, it's not s as if only pro-trans-athlete supporters use Dove, are they that stupid?

NiceGerbil · 04/08/2021 02:17

YY.

There's no need whatsoever.

Massively contraversial.

Their main target is women.

It's nonsensical.

I've got terrible psoriasis and eczema, the only washing powder I can use (please God dont go woke) is costcos own. It's a massive tub, says 400 washes on it and is around £15. Theres no perfumes or softeners, and it lasts me about a year. Which is fabulous value wise.

If you know anyone with a Costco card ask if you can go with them. If you want a sample I'll happily send you some to try?

KittenKong · 04/08/2021 07:15

I wonder who makes Costco own? Their own brand items are usually made by ‘big brands’.

What I don't get if they wanted to support transgender athletes, is why not Rachel Quinn, who actually got a medal as part of the Canadian football team, and didn't take the space from anyone more deserving? Why is it just Hubbard that is getting supported?

Maybe because there's nothing really controversial about Quinn? Quinn is a female, competing in the correct sex competition. Very few people care one way or another about whether someone is 'nonbinary' - 'gender' (or rejection of it) should be irrelevant to sports.

The transwoman golfer competing, correctly, in a male event is more worth supporting as a role model for trans inclusion.

Sorry to disappoint you looking for alternatives in own brands but often the own brand is made in the same factory. Not always and I don't know how to check where they are made.

Article about food from 2017

uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/big-name-firms-make-brand-products-raft-supermarkets-160230209.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAFiHN4oKGR1TH2AvARqYOswJF-tqypEWBKYhFwyaMEuMCb-iDquSMnYrWYggEFUQTJHD_XH1e-d6OBLjRKvtIjHlRrSdVMLiRC8DBprG97bmP5FBDzePnyPlcTpvNw8L6p1b8j4M4Se_VRZLSa-j_Z3LlL4YRsVdDHZ4ndcL7q9R

My carer used to make soap as a hobby, maybe it's time he thought again about making it a business.

You can't just sell it because it needs to be certified and, as I understand it, that's for different recipes.

I have psoriasis and his soap is brilliant, you'd think soap would be harsh but his is actually soothing.

clickychicky · 04/08/2021 10:15

Bit of a strange marketing move to support some thing so controversial.

KittenKong · 04/08/2021 10:23

Well - if you follow the ‘no pr is bad pr’ theory... didn’t work out so well to Gerald Ratner though did it?

clickychicky · 04/08/2021 10:30

I don't really know much about the controversy but I know loads of women are upset about it so it just seems odd to take sides in the debate when women are your target audience. Maybe they are trying to increase their market in the transgender market but I don't know if there are enough people who identify that way to make up for the number of women they will piss off.

KittenKong · 04/08/2021 10:39

I don’t get how they can do this. How many women would look and say ‘yes thats me’?

Enough4me · 06/08/2021 22:46

I now look at Dove and think it's for men who like to play charades.

NiceGerbil · 06/08/2021 22:52

With companies like this, given their customer base. Every time it happens it feels like they are just trolling women to me.

Enough4me · 06/08/2021 22:54

I'm now visualising trolls under bridges trying to soap themselves up into being women 🤣

Triphazards · 06/08/2021 22:55

Not so fast!

Has Quinn got blue hair?

NiceGerbil · 06/08/2021 23:09

Quinn is presumably not on T and so is competing in correct category- AOK.
