This is such a very stupid marketing move at this stage. Read the room, Dove!

I’m genuinely curious about the the decision making there. Woke Social Media Intern strikes again?

KittenKong · 02/08/2021 21:27

Just flipping through a marketing piece on Dove

“Due to successful marketing objectives, Dove is the UK’s Bar Soap brand and 45% of the people bought a Dove product in 2010. In fact, 10.1 million women use Dove every week in the UK”

Aye and due to some tin ear marketing, that 10.1 million (how very dare they assume) figure will drop.

They want us but are happy to dump on us. And most of the end users and the majority of purchasers are women? Righty ho.

FindTheTruth · 02/08/2021 21:28

God the irony of the Dove self esteem project as they trample on Roviel Detenamo, Feagaiga Stowers, Luniarra Sipaia and all young women denied their Olympic dreams

www.dove.com/uk/dove-self-esteem-project.html
Welcome to the Dove Self-Esteem Project
At Dove, we believe that no young person should be held back from reaching their full potential

slow handclap here ... FFS

@AnneLovesGilbert

Did someone start a list of decent brands? I’m sure there was a suggestion a while back.

This sort of right on desperate virtue signalling is embarrassing and very out of step with most people.

You're so right about the desperation! They obviously don't want my custom either.
KittenKong · 02/08/2021 21:29

Another reason why I buy lentil weaving brands from my local health food store (after I online search the hell out of them).

laselvar · 02/08/2021 21:29

Just sent their customer services a message.

SpindleWhorl · 02/08/2021 21:29

Dove isn't reading the room

YorkshireGirl35 · 02/08/2021 21:30

Oh ffs I’ve just switched from shower gel to their beauty bars in an attempt to be more green. Why do these companies have to even be political Hmm

JulesJules · 02/08/2021 21:30

I just don't understand why brands do this. Fortunately, other soaps are available.

KittenKong · 02/08/2021 21:30

And don’t hold your breath. I’m fed up playing chess with these pigeons.

FreeBritnee · 02/08/2021 21:30

The ratios!!!

Chickenyhead · 02/08/2021 21:34

That's a shame.

Why can't they stay impartial. Ridiculous.

KittenKong · 02/08/2021 21:39

But in today’s ‘good news’... the ‘vagina’ museum isn’t getting its lease renewed (ahhhhhh) and they can’t find an alternative ‘suitable’ space up in Camden. It’s going to be (yet another) clothes store (for teen tourists to but overpriced knackered old stinky second hand duds).

I guess their target market didn’t step up and fill the gap of the women they hacked off. Sales and marketing 101 - don’t alienate your target and don’t tell honking porkie pies.

ChewtonRoad · 02/08/2021 21:40

If the ASA were to require Dove to tell the truth, would the tweet have said "History in the making! Man who claims to be a woman participates in Olympics to the detriment of a female competitor. Here's to wondering why anyone let this happen!"?

Didn't think so.

ChakaDakotaRegina · 02/08/2021 21:40

Body positive ‘love the skin your in’ Dove is now keen to tell us to change bodies with hormones and change birth certificates and change everyone else’s ability to participate in sport and change everyone else’s language in order to spare the feelings of a fully grown, able bodied, white adult male?

FindTheTruth · 02/08/2021 21:41

that ratio is glorious

colouringindoors · 02/08/2021 21:44

Isn't it!

@Mulletsaremisunderstood

www.ethicalconsumer.org/company-profile/unilever

This website has their company address if you scroll down.

I am not sure I would trust the ethical assessment of any magazine that partners with Lush (see the prize links at the bottom).
PamDenick · 02/08/2021 21:49

What’s the ratio?

Ifyourefeelingsinister · 02/08/2021 21:50

FFS, Dove. What about a celebration of Emily Campbell? Absolutely fed up of this shite.

titchy · 02/08/2021 21:50

@PamDenick

What’s the ratio?
Wonderful Grin
Anotheruser02 · 02/08/2021 21:52

I don't get the ratio thing? Is that something to do with soap?

titchy · 02/08/2021 21:52

@PamDenick

What’s the ratio?
Sorry did you mean what does 'ratio' mean? Blush It refers to the ratio of supportive tweets/retweets to unsupportive ones. Being 'ratio'd' means bucketloads of criticism to what you've tweeted.
Thelnebriati · 02/08/2021 21:52

😂

TrainedByCats · 02/08/2021 21:54

Unilever was already on my boycott list but it’s useful to get a reminder which brands that includes and why I’m boycotting them.
