It's okay to let people be who they are.

OP posts:

I've been wondering if I am non-binary. I watched the Euro 2020 final wearing a skirt the other day. I felt masculine when shouting 'Come on England' and feminine when I put on lipstick on in the morning.

That makes me non-binary, doesn't it?

That makes you gender fluid, doesn't it? Do you have your own day?

WarOnWoman · 14/07/2021 07:45

"Some of the obvious benefits of the lifestyle include lighter luggage when traveling for vacation and as mentioned before, smaller loads of laundry."

I could go for this. So many benefits: lighter luggage, smaller loads of laundry, less money spent on clothes, less decision fatigue of what to wear if a morning, saving the plant. Excuse me while I get undressed for work.

I said this on another thread but I will repeat and expand here.

Declaring yourself non-binary is like ordering an expensive meal where you expect the bill to be shared. It only 'works' if not everyone does it, and it annoys people even if they don't say anything.

It annoys people because you are assigning a large number of people a role ('binary') without checking with them, whilst knowing that you yourself are unhappy with that 'role'.

If there was one person on a desert island, the material reality of their sex would still exist. Their gender wouldn't, as their would be no roles assigned to one gender or the other.

Gumbomambo · 14/07/2021 08:40

Oh lovely I shall bake a purple cake with extra sparkle and specialness to differentiate from you usual plain vanilla cakes.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 14/07/2021 08:42

Nicely put avocadowoman

Its beyond me why mumsnet allows these threads to be posted on this board

At best its an honest post in which case it should be somewhere like LGBT children/parents or maybe chat

At worst its goading and looking for screenshots

chickenyhead · 14/07/2021 10:15

I keep being told that I am cis.

Cis is having the same gender identity as your born sex.

I don't have a gender identity, but if I did, it wouldn't be a woman.

Henceforth, I declare myself to br non binary, agender, if forced to subscribe to made up shit like this.

It must be so annoying to discover that it is everyone’s day!! So, yay!! Happy day for everyone!!

allmywhat · 14/07/2021 10:37

It’s also Bastille Day, National Mac and Cheese Day, National Nude Day, National Tape Measure Day(!!!!?) and Shark Awareness Day. (I assume the Nation in question is the USA but since imported American BS is the thread topic...)

Here everyone, have some Shark Awareness, it’s much more fun than the OP’s nonsense.

AlwaysTawnyOwl · 14/07/2021 10:37

We're all 'non binary' as we are all mixtures of traits, some labelled 'masculine ' and some 'feminine'. Its nothing special.

I'm saddened by the ugliness of the words this identity uses. Non binary is such a dull and boring name.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/07/2021 10:45

That makes you gender fluid, doesn't it? Do you have your own day?

Surely they need two days, a 'boy mode day' and a 'girl mode day'. Except what if they don't feel like a boy on boy mode day?Confused hm... seems like in practice GFs seem to manage to be in girl mode when there's a women's award to accept, or boy mode if there's a male role to be played (and paid for at male rates).

Whatwouldscullydo · 14/07/2021 10:48

Binary implies 2 doesn't it?

So if there are 100 genders as per the BBC suggest

Then surely that means you'd be non- centary?

MotionActivatedDog · 14/07/2021 10:52

What is it called if you’re just very very tired? All the time. Just tire…....d. That’s my identity.

Wildgarlicpesto · 14/07/2021 10:53

Or non-sensory?

That's a good point, had can non-binary be attached to transgender? To be non-binary you must be saying that there is only two sexes genders, surely that is completely transphobic.
ohfuckitall · 14/07/2021 11:28

@InspiralCoalescenceRingdown

I find it sad. Why can’t people be who they are?

I know right? Why can't people just be themselves, instead of defining themselves by stereotypes?
