Looks like Helem Webberley's substantive case has finally been listed for 26th July 2021

And Michael Brady wanted to work with GenderGP in 2019!

Christ, from that tweet, gender GPs IT servers are open and lack any security, am I reading that right?

I hope no patients details are accessible.

Mad isn't it.

curiouser and curiouser.

This is a huge lesson in the dangers of silos.

PronounssheRa · 14/07/2021 22:29

That's my worry.

But what kind of fucking amateurs, who handle such sensitive data don't use secure servers, especially after the mermaids data breach.

Signalbox · 14/07/2021 22:30

I would say there probably is patient information that is accessible, and most likely identifying. If there is DW may need to forward it to the ICO rather than Twitter

Would the ICO have jurisdiction if Gender GP is based abroad?

Leafstamp · 14/07/2021 22:30

Apparently Gender GPs’ head of current affairs works at Gendered Intelligence:

If they’re based in Spain, wouldn’t it be AEOD that deals with GDPR breaches?

Signalbox · 22/07/2021 19:13

I'm surprised HW is talking to the press at this stage.
She seems to be setting herself as a bit of a martyr.

I had a look at the server link, and I could be wrong, but I don't think it was their email, and if so then not a huge breach.

It looked like it was simply the server housing the website and basically contained everything they ever posted on the website in terms of images and downloads. I couldn't tell if that included stuff from the private area or not.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 22/07/2021 19:35

She's living in a dream world.

I think she's genuinely deluded, she believes the bullshit coming out of the American plastic surgery industry and advocacy groups on this, and thinks she's being unfairly persecuted when all she's doing is helping vulnerable people.

I think this trial is going to bring her back into the real world, and it's not going to be much fun for her.

Helen Webberley is a true zealot. She believes in affirmation and sees no problem at all with prescribing blockers or hormones to minors, without a parent's permission, without any therapy at all.

I don't know whether she believes it or not but she would stand to do well financially out of a decision that she and her husband can resume their medical careers. As with US HCPs there's an obvious conflict between money and ethics.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/07/2021 19:56

Interestingly Mermaids are still recommending them...

Indeed, I just posted the same Its but I got deleted, have asked MNHQ to explain why.

I'd forgotten it started that soon - thanks for the reminder!

Leafstamp · 22/07/2021 20:41

I’m sure that Mermaids have been reported to the Charity commission many times, so hopefully another investigation will now take place to see if it’s appropriate for a charity to help someone bypass the uk regulatory framework.

It’s come round quickly hasn’t it!

She really thinks it is her chance to bring change to NHS care, that's she's defending their care rather than defending her career.

FloralBunting · 22/07/2021 21:15

I don't think she honestly believes she's going to win the tribunal. I think she knows she's toast. I think her whole schtick here is to go out with all guns blazing because it's the only way she will secure whatever business she manages to manoeuvre herself into afterwards.

The woman clearly has no qualms about manipulating vulnerable people for her financial gain. She cannot believe the GMC will overlook her breaches of their standards, so she must know the writing is on the wall.

Asking for anecdotes to take into the tribunal isn't about providing evidence for the tribunal, it's a PR display for all her customers. She's a complete charlatan.

MaudTheInvincible · 22/07/2021 21:32

It's not often I get to use the word mountebank, but this is one of those times. Helen Webberley is, imvho, a mountebank.
