Are they just inflicting this on their own staff team? Or am I as a customer expected to use gender neutral loos too?

I think someone needs to remind Kev that transgender people aren't the ONLY people protected under the Equality Act 2010

Time for the women suffering because of this to start taking legal action, as the judge in Ann Sinnott's case suggested.

Sainsbury's are well and truly down this route and I guess have not yet consulted with their lawyers. If they are at the point of re-considering their involvement, it will be like trying to turn a super-tanker.

I love it when people or businesses try to justify it as treating everyone equally and yet as a born woman.. I don't feel I'm being treated equally, I feel a man who wants to be a woman has more rights than me.

Happily, I have no brand loyalty and there are plenty other supermarkets to choose from.

Trouble is, the only person in Sainsbury's top management who is going to look at those comments and the article is probably their Diversity (the Kool-aid's on the third shelf) Chief Kevin O'Bryne (he's finance too)

Why would you need to ask a Sainsbury staff member their pronouns? If you're talking to them, it's the second person pronouns you need - you, your, yours. If you need to talk about them, I'd just say, "Your colleague", as in, "Excuse me, your colleague in the fruit and veg section said I'd find dried pears in this aisle but I don't see any."

Come to think of it, I can't find dried pears anywhere lately, not even in Waitrose...

And am I right to think it's the most vulnerable who will be most impacted by the loss of privacy in the toilets? I'm thinking the very elderly, the pregnant and those with small children, all of whom can be caught short and not be able to hold in during a supermarket visit.

Have they asked their actual customers or just caved to pressure?

Maybe the way to go with these companies is directly to the Shareholders' Boards.
