Well it's all kicking off at the spa. An amazing woman behind the desk standing up for women and telling a man where to take his penis. I fear she will lose her job over this but it's a glorious way to go.

The gang of mainly men who bullied the one female protester are getting a lot of stick on Twitter. Both Antifa and TRAs are coming in for heavy criticism.

Hard right and hard left are both authoritarian extremes.

Both left and right (mainstream) have never had any interest in women. The often said thing- on both sides women are property. The right sees us as personal property (of husband/ father) and the left sees us as public property. Always reminds me of the song lyric-

Generation sex respects the rights of girls
Who want to take their clothes off
As long as we can all watch that's o.k.

And politics left right doesn't have anything to do with this really.

It's about men's rights. It's about men being able to rage about, threaten, even attack certain women. The sort of women loads of men don't like. The ones who say no to men.

Men who have those feelings are everywhere and politics has nothing to do with it. It's just misogyny. That's all.

Oh... on twitter there is supposedly some images of the person at the centre of the furore.

They seem, well not someone I’d feel safe around. Violent images (what is it with knives?) and talking about their periods... well this person says that they are the one that was in the spa anyway. Either way, wow.

This is a comment from one of the women I followed during my days on Twitter. She was at the protest.

Based on a few other tweets, it seems like some of the extreme right turned up and it escalated further. There's a video of some guy in a red cap with a baseball cap chasing another man. I saw a claim that it was the Proud Boys but I don't think thats verified.

Great, just great. Rather than a protest centring women’s rights to single sex spaces, this looks like a mixed group of religious nuts, probably homophobic and/or genuinely transphobic and violent men facing off against another group of misogynistic violent men.

Not helpful. The actual message - that it is not acceptable to insist that people displaying their penises have a right to be in purportedly women’s single sex spaces with women and children in a state of undress- has been lost, and will now get “both sides”ed in a debate about which violent man hit which violent man because they fancied a punch up.

It is a bloody mess. I'm utterly despairing right now.

Interesting coverage from the Daily Mail on this one. Very little coverage on what the issue was and seem to be conflating the initial push back and protest with being anti-trans.

Well it look like there was a nasty bust up outside the clinic. Antifa, proud boys and some religious types rocked up.

I didn't see any black women in the videos I saw. It seemed to be mostly white men (and some white women).

So Antifa are standing up for the rights of people to flash their penis at women and girls. Not a great look. And of course the far and religious right are going to cash in on this as a way to attack liberals and LGBT. Urgh!

Oh, David. If you’re trying to obscure the fact that the debate is a men’s rights movement systematically breaking down women’s access to single sex anything, it makes perfect sense to frame women not wanting to share space with men when naked and vulnerable a “moral panic”.

I've been thinking about the prevalence of 'that never happens' with the rise in women being labelled terfs.
It seems to me that the two things are deeply interwined.
I've seen a number of posts on twitter now asking for evidence that the person in the spa was behaving inappropriately and I thought that was fascinating.
The whole thing was literally set off by a viral video of a woman complaining about it but they can't find any 'evidence'?
Every time something happens, no matter how obvious or blatant, the whistleblower is labelled a terf for raising it. The evidence is therefore discredited and doesn't exist.
This is the same on everything from the prisons review to the horrors at the Tavistock and now this latest at Wi Spa.
This way, not only does it not happen, but it can never happen even when it does.

And yet the British judiciary acknowledged the high proportion of trans prisoners who are sex offenders and that proximity to males cause women prisoners stress and anxiety, yet this wasn't enough to protect the women, and instead the Male prisoners will continue to be housed in the female estate.

Women. Don't. Matter.
