I'm just back from a nice walk, in the course of which we saw some rare breed pigs (gloucester old spot, I think), including a section of field with a sow and six tiny piglets. They were like puppies, a bit unsteady, flopping down in the grass at random, piling up and arranging themselves into rows.

I've just noticed that I've racked up another deletion. Apparently addressing our monitors directly and asking them how they might feel if it was them just isn't on.

Admittedly I did use some disrespectful language, but nothing in the league of abuse or threats. I thought I might skating close to the line but nope, I was beyond it.

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman what the hell did you say? Which is a daft question because if you repeat it, they will delete it again 😂

I might have used the term 'hurty feelz' in a context considered a bit challenging. I think that was what it was. I can't remember anything else from that post likely to cause distress.

I keep saying things that I think are just this side of the guidelines and a couple of times it's turned out that they're not.

Anyway, slow gin, anyone?

I hate gin so I make fruit vodkas instead. Gin gives me hurty feelz.

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman I'll have a sloe gin mixed with lemon tonic if it's available - it makes the flavour of the sloes come out all the better

I've never tried it with lemon tonic but normal tonic is good.

Sloe gin is delicious. Tescos Finest make a nice one. I've planted a sloe bush in my garden but I think it's going to be a long, long time before I get enough berries to make my own sloe gin.

Highame - the voles arrived this morning - some of them were a bit travelsick. We have organised them into two teams - one is mowing the lawn and the others are dusting with the dusters you sent. They send their best regards.

@GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman there's a thread on another board discussing the same issue as a thread on here and it's quite eye opening the difference in moderation tolerance. One or two comments have made me think 'eeek! You'll get a deletion for that for sure!' and then I've realised it's not this board.

The monitors, I assume, cannot be everywhere. Two of my three deletions addressed them directly, so it seems they don't like that. I used to wonder if they really existed, but I don't any longer.

For anyone wanting sloe gin, just get yourself to a patch of countryside with blackthorn growing at some stage in the late autumn. Sloes are supposed to have been frosted before picking, but you can either pop them in your freezer for a few hours or prick them with a pin to get the same effect (slightly split skins). You only need a pint by volume to make a small batch of slow gin.

If you freeze them, then put them in the kilner jar you intend to use to make sloe gin, just pour over the gin and the skins will split nicely (other preserving jars are available)
