I've nicked a title, opened the door, dusted off the bar.

Come in and drown your sorrows, celebrate or just hang out in good company.

Dogs are very useful for clearing up under tables, as well as bits left on plates.

Damn I fell asleep and missed everything, including marmite cheese straws. And the cider (but you can very politely keep that).

I was thinking of trying veggie scotch eggs. Anyone up fro trying them ?

PetticoatSoldier · 09/08/2021 21:18

Haven't bene in for a drink for a while so thought I'd pop in on the way home. Thanks @Waitwhat23 @ErrolTheDragon @DaisiesandButtercups and @EmbarrassingAdmissions for the biscuits and mints! x

Yes, please. What's the main layer? Sosmix or your own pulse/protein combination?

DaisiesandButtercups · 09/08/2021 21:29

You’re very welcome PetticoatSoldier and how lovely to see you again!

I really fancy a glass of red tonight…

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:15

I've brought all my cider and my hedgerow vodkas from the last 5 years to donate to the bar. Damson, raspberry, blackberry, tayberry, elderberry, and a few oddments like toffees and lemon swiz.

Plus 300 l of organic cider

Am incandescent with rage at H latest shit, so am in the ranty corner with Camilla, and a particularly precious throw I made that I have retrieved from my home, some marmite and cheese straws (plated up the excess for you lot on the bar) and a bottle of my damson vodka and another of my 8% cider.

Chin chin, wims
See you sometime tomorrow.

Unless anyone wants a chat?

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:16

Be warned though, I'm in full on rant mode

On another night yes, but I've just been sent some new material within the last few minutes that has to be incorporated before a 09:00 meeting tomorrow.

So I've just postponed my bedtime to work on this.

I'm sorry it's all so wretched at home, Spring Crocus - and I admit to being somewhat consumed with curiosity about the 300L of cider.

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:21

Oh, that's half a normal year's production

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:22

have an orchard and we I make cider. And teach about cider making/pruning/planting orchards

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:23

Sorry, about half a year surplus production. We sell and drink quite a lot!

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:25

Hic

I'm lost in admiration for the multiple skills of people like you in rural areas. You graft non-stop and turn your hand to so many skills and do them all so well.
SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 22:32

@EmbarrassingAdmissions
Gosh, thank you!
I get so few none complements, so what you said means a heck of a lot.

I've had the last 20 years being told (by H) what a lazy bitch I am, (what, raising four AT children with zero help from an AT husband? ) which as you can probably imagine grinds down even the most robust self esteemed woman!

ErrolTheDragon · 09/08/2021 22:44

I just wish we could physically embody this place and turn the paddocks, cellars etc over to you, SpringCrocus.Thanks

It never ceases to amaze me what an instinctive understanding of other people's tasks some observers people have when:
– they've never done those activities or something comparable;
– have no responsibility for planning, far less executing the tasks;
– they don't understand what they're looking at. They mistake the fact that somebody with expertise and supreme competence manages to make fiendishly complex undertakings look straightforward when they really aren't.

And, yes - if you end up living in a hall of mirrors with nothing but unpredictably warped reflections, it isn't going to be straightforward to hang on to an appropriate sense of yourself. It would be the same for getting nothing but negative distorted 'feedback' even when you know it's coming from distorted sources like your H. 20 years of it? Well done for surviving that with any sense of self at all.

Funnily enough, this place is pretty much what I'm facing having to leave irl, sadly. Endless outbuldings, gardens, paddocks, barns, bar spaces, yurts, fields, woods etc etc.

I have actually had both Camels and Alpacas as pets livestock, in the past. Amongst other assorted creatures.

SpringCrocus · 09/08/2021 23:50

You have no idea how much better your comments make me feel!

ablutiions · 10/08/2021 03:08

@EmbarrassingAdmissions no sodding idea. TBH I can spend the whole night looking up recipes as it's A level results day tomorrow, DS is off overseas, very likely to be in clearing and I'm so stressed I can't sleep. A bit of scotch egg distraction may be the only way to calm my nerves. Who knew that scotch eggs could be so versatile?

I'm so cross with DFE for their fecking uselesslessness already that I may have to fetch the goat again tomorrow. That poor, poor animal, just when it was getting in so well with the camel.

Anyone got anything chirpy and uplifting, or so-bad-it's-funny to share, to lighten the mood?

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 04:00

I've just reconnected with a distant relative?

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 04:31

A close relative, who I had gone nc with (because he's been a horrible twat) and he's finally reached out to me.

Being v cautious, but is quite nice to reconnect. Doing it entirely on my terms, via Email. They live in the NZ area, so no chance of me being physically involved, thank
Goddess

SpringCrocus · 10/08/2021 04:37

@ablutiions
Come and join me under my precious
Quilt, with cheese and marmite straws, damson vodka and cider.
All organic, and v v tasty.
And I have a shower curtain to protect us from Camilla's drooling

ablutiions · 10/08/2021 06:48

@SpringCrocus you are a kindly soul. Good new re the relly. Anything done on your own terms is good I think.

Do we need to give the goat a name? I feel she deserves one.

Oh, and I've just seen that the sun is finally shining. Grin

Gertrude the Goat - homage to Gertrude Bunbury

@mollythemeerkat how are the Voles doing? Are they trained in house duties? Not sure I want them back unless you've trained them to nurture instead of destroy Geraniums.
