Who do you trust more - Stonewall or Liz Truss.

A weird premise, comparing a government minister and a charity who consider themselves to be ruling the U.K. government but there you go...

The delusional belief that"most people are in favour of 'trans rights' "( when they actually realise the full implications of what this implies) and that the dissenting voices are few in number, or simply 'sock puppet' accounts......is a hard nut to crack. It seems to be founded in fairly closed and carefully curated social media worlds, in which everyone agrees with you, or 'likes' your profile.It has nothing to do with open and honest debate, or with canvassing public opinion.

I was amused last night, today the realisation hit me, i don't think Labour are capable of change.

I think you are correct. More worrying is that they think the rise of right wing populism means they have to double down. There is no awareness that by alienating (and insulting) the very people who would ordinarily vote for them they are recruiting for the right wing populists, this is very bad news for most of us. In the short term we may win the fight for single sex spaces but the damage that is being done to democracy means that the future of equality legislation is less certain for all of us. I'm so angry with the labour party for enabling this.

Why anyone would need to hand over good money to show that they treat their staff with dignity and respect is a mystery to me. The law in the UK is clear: sexual orientation and gender reassignment are protected characteristics and it is unlawful to treat people less favourably as a result. This is not rocket science. For example, The Spectator has never coughed up to Stonewall yet it happily engages with gay, Lesbian and trans writers.

Despite the Labour party being f*cked, this has restored my faith somewhat. Over 90,000 votes and 70% in favour of Liz Truss. I know it's only a Twitter poll, but still.

Dawn has been pretty quiet, do we know the reason for that? 😂😂😂

If I were Liz Truss, I'd be sorely tempted to clip those poll results and set them as my Twitter banner.

(And then, I'd probably not actually do it, not being a mental and emotional ten-year-old - which unfortunately seems to be a rare quality in UK politics right now.)

So let this be a lesson. If you time your poll to end before your supporters wake up en masse and vote the way you wanted, you probably need to up your politics game.

I'm not sure she's even got that get out. The poll must have run for about 24 hours. Time for everybody to vote, if they'd been so minded.

At the very least this will have made quite a few people chuckle, so thanks for the laughs Dawn.

Well, the Dawn Butler Poll is now firmly embedded in twitty folk legend, so there is that I suppose.

I don't see any need for any company, publicly funded body or organisation to sign up to Stonewall's Champion Scheme nor to outsource their equality duties to them - it's pretty fucking easy NOT to discriminate against people in work and the EqA is hardly a difficult document to understand.

And let us remember that she has 150k followers meaning those voting for a conservative minister should include a large number if labour supporters.

I've enjoyed watching this. Just sad that she'll never get it - too many special awards, too much face to lose.

Pretty much this. I voted for them in the local elections in a bit of a last chance saloon situation. If this silly shit show had happened before it would have been the final nail in the coffin and I wouldn't even be sorry. Where are the grown ups in the Labour Party?
