A weird premise, comparing a government minister and a charity who consider themselves to be ruling the U.K. government but there you go...

What is she pretending she's trying to prove??

Dawn butler, like so many on the left and in the Labour party, genuinely believe they are on the 'right side of history'. They have become subsumed by ideology at the expense of actually taking a more nuanced and non partisan look at the world. Tribal identity politics.

I find it difficult to comprehend how it could be possible that elected representatives and seemingly intelligent commentators don't actually understand that trans ideology is just that. An ideology. And because they do not question any of the basic tenets of that ideology, they neglect to understand its implications.

I also find if difficult to comprehend how female MPs who are always going on about women's rights can be so dismissive of this issue. It is as if they never really understood what women's rights were all about to begin with; or why they were needed.

I wondered about that too. It's possible I'm crediting Dawn with more intelligence than she possesses; even though our current political class are woeful I'm struggling to believe anyone can be this stupid or out of touch.

I wondered about that too. It's possible I'm crediting Dawn with more intelligence than she possesses; even though our current political class are woeful I'm struggling to believe anyone can be this stupid or out of touch.

I'm going to guess an attempt to pretend that the egg all over her face was part of a cunning plan to prove the appalling levels of transphobia/right wing American infiltration/AN Other Bad Thing.

Her followers will probs lap it up; here's hoping the undecided and/or spineless (looking at you, Keir and Jess) will take note, though.

Is it possible that she just hasn't noticed how the votes are falling, and is only looking at total votes cast? Difficult to believe, but it's amazing how people just fail to see what they aren't looking for...

Or from the fact that the TRAs are calling her "phenomenally dense" and "deliberately inflammatory" for her attempt to support them.

Really? Maybe. I did a poll on AIBU recently, and couldn't see the results, at all.

Almost 80k votes and still an overwhelming majority saying Liz Truss.

If this is not prompting some anxious telephone calls and a front page media splash then nothing will.

I think Dawn will dismiss it as being hijacked by the right wing. She can't countenance that there are very many reasonable people who disagree with her on this issue. If she did she wouldn't have done the poll in the first place.

I do hope there are some reasonable people in Labour who are looking at the comments and doing some grown up thinking.

The Rosie vs Dawn poll it as 97% to Rosie.

At the very least the level of embarrassment will make her reconsider her use of polls on Twitter.

Unfortunately she’ll probably spin it as some nasty TERF gamed her poll.

I’m not sure this will encourage any self reflection.

There are lots of us on here and beyond who are waiting for Labour to start becoming a woman friendly party again, so that we can go back to our political home. However, if Labour is now going for dense MP's, I'm not sure I'm going to be in that much of a rush

US East Coast mostly asleep at the moment and only just waking up at 1pm, when it closes. US West Coast - night owls will still be awake for a little while (8 hours behind us). I'd have thought if US voters were going to pile in to skew the results it would mostly have happened by now. Instructive.

Looks like the usual “transphobe” and the new “anti-Semite” accusations are losing traction too.

And that there is their downfall. It is less about the individual policies but the utter contempt they show anyone who dares to disagree.
