LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

It's appalling Erkrie. I'm seeing a lot of actual hate, and it's certainly not coming from LGB Alliance.

No it absolutely isn't coming from the LGB alliance. There's room for all of these organisations. Such hatred is so unnecessary. It's disgusting that high profile people on twitter are trying to disrupt an organisation set up to support a protected characteristic under the equality act. Utterly shameful.

@RedDogsBeg

The tunnel vision and absolute certainty that the T must be included in and at the centre of everything. A mild example:

So... what about trans people? Do.. they not deserve your helps well? Where is the T?!

great response:

They have Stonewall which prioritises trans people over all others - even if that means damage to the rights of women in general or lesbians in particular.

Exactly. Things would be a lot clearer if Stonewall admitted that they are a trans organisation, and let places like LGBA represent homosexual people.

There will be an overlap, of course, but at least the conflict that keeps being denied would be out in the open.

@Leafstamp

The petition to "Stop LGB Gaining Charity Status" is utterly ridiculous!

I give the following reasons, but no doubt there are more:

  1. It has already gained Charity Status so doesn't even make sense (anymore - not sure when it was started).
  1. It says 'LGB Alliance believe in the concept of ‘adult human female’ which disregards trans people'. What about the concept of 'adult human male'? What about all the other 'concepts' that are in the dictionary and allow English speaking people to meaningfully converse?
  1. It also says 'The reason I started this petition is because the trans community belongs with LGBT.'
Erm, well, the reason LGB Alliance was created is that for some, the T doesn't belong with LGB. And that's because LBG are sexual orientations and T isn't.

None of this is rocket science.

I would love a study to compare the average IQ of TRAs called GC feminists.

Believe in the concept of adult human female, it's a 'concept' now is it? The one sentence alone reveals exactly what this agenda is and who it is for, all about the TW, all for men, 100% misogynistic and driven by hatred of and for women.

It also says 'The reason I started this petition is because the trans community belongs with LGBT.' Again demanding and dictating, all about them and what they want.

Thanks, Mondayyogurt, for linking to that thread. I read it all. So, there is no evidence, then. What utter nonsense.

Its much better that this type of rage and atitudes are revealed (however appalling). Such people will inevitably have been attempting to disrupt LGBAlliance or would do in the future.
When its done in the public square it can be witnessed.

I suppose so, it just does take me aback when people are so violently aggressive.

@Mollyollydolly

Apparently it's all our fault. The hysteria is off the scale.

Fabulous news, well done LGB Alliance!

Hotcuppatea · 20/04/2021 16:49

Excellent news 🍻

Yes to this.

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 20/04/2021 16:50

This is great news!

It's also quite fun watching David Paisley losing his shit about this on Twitter!

However, interesting that Paisley has referenced this in his latest 'complain about LGB Alliance' instructions? Surely that is Stonewall out then, because they literally state on their website that they are campaigning to abolish single sex exemptions in the EA?

LGB Alliance is now a registered charity
RabbitOfCaerbannog · 20/04/2021 16:52

Stonewall have become the ultimate political lobbying group, they're very successful at it, which is why we're in such a mess.

itsalifetimesworkfella · 20/04/2021 16:57

Wonderful.

And with charitable status comes access to funds.

Whoop!

HamsterV2 · 20/04/2021 16:57

That's fantastic news, well done LGB Alliance. It's about time there was a charity representing LGB people. Stonewall has been entirely captured by gender ideology and is basically a "T" charity now. Totally unfit for purpose.

As for the Twitter meltdown, it's giving sunlight to the hysterical narcissistic rage of the trans community, who absoltely do not represent me. It would be funny if it weren't so horrifically abusive.

I'm just worried for the poor civil servants who are going to be bombarded with endless tirades and angry letters. Confused

This is shocking. You're right, here it is at the fourth bullet point in relation to the Women and Equalities Select Committee Inquiry on Transgender Equality:

Our recommendations to the Select Committee include:

A review of the Equality Act 2010 to include ‘gender identity’ rather than ‘gender reassignment’ as a protected characteristic and to remove exemptions, such as access to single-sex spaces.

www.stonewall.org.uk/women-and-equalities-select-committee-inquiry-transgender-equality

I've looked at the CC website and you can only make a complaint to them after complaining to the charity direct. I'm not quite strong/ready enough to do that. But if anyone else feels they can... the Stonewall website has email contacts on.

Erkrie · 20/04/2021 17:02

Yes that is quite fun. Also, he makes no sense. We are allowed to have groups that serve the needs of particular people and exclude others. Imagine if every charity had to cater for everyone and everything. It wouldn't be possible would it.

ListeningQuietly · 20/04/2021 17:17

Why is it hateful to support Lesbian and Gay and Bi people?
Why is it hateful to want biological reality?

R0wantrees · 20/04/2021 17:29

Why is it hateful to support Lesbian and Gay and Bi people?

Its not. Only those who do not want lesbians, gay men and bisexual people to have a charity to represent their own interests would suggest this.

A great deal of the false accusation rage appears to be coming from heterosexuals.

BraveBananaBadge · 20/04/2021 17:34

Well this is the thing isn't it Listening. You can see on Twitter a lie can get around the world before the truth can get its shoes on. Why has no-one stopped to wonder if really, truly, a 'hate group' would be entertained by the Charity Commission for even a moment? Or that the LGBA exists purely to 'exterminate' the T? They're all using the same extreme language in their rants and, just like with JKR it will all be taken as gospel as passed on. It's so preposterous I don't understand if I must be missing something.
