LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

Like the comments about trans widows. You’re going to be brilliant, by the way, Tinsel.
Erkrie · 21/04/2021 07:49

Simon fanshawe is the voice of logic. This wouldn't have happened in stonewall under his watch.

Claire4567 · 21/04/2021 07:50

Wowsers, 'homophobic' and 'transphobic' are being thrown around like confetti on this thread. It doesn't matter how many times you say them, hoping they will stick, it DOESN'T make it true.

Well done LGB Alliance.

I do want the charity status revoked. Because what have they actually done that is deemed charitable?

I cant wait to see what they do now they are a charity. They have come so far and wonder if the other branches of LGBA will follow suit?

Yeah but I don't see the issue with this. Transgender people already use single sex spaces of their choice and it should be something protected under the equality act
Erkrie · 21/04/2021 07:53

I don't know how anyone could support stonewall when they want to get rid of single sex spaces. Which would have such an impact on the dignity and safety of women. And this isn't just toilets. It's everything. Hospitals / rape crises, everything. No space left for women to be on their own. Nothing.

Biscuitsanddoombar · 21/04/2021 07:53

For the hard of understanding

An organisation that wishes to become a charity must complete an application to the charity commission outlining its charitable purpose as defined by the charities act 2006 and consolidated in 2011 demonstrating how it will meet the definition of a charity as outlined in law. The definitions are standard and apply to all those seeking charitable registration

Once registered it will then be required through the medium of an annual return to the charity commission to outline how it is achieving its charitable purpose and carrying out its aims and objectives

Sophoclesthefox · 21/04/2021 07:53

Your picture was there, mugging

Possibly can’t get through certain ideological filters, though, I dunno.

Thislittlefinger123 · 21/04/2021 07:54

Good news! As a super straight adult human female I shall be making a donation and watching their progress with interest!

But trans men already is the men's room and trans women already use the women's room. Nothing is changing other than it being protected for them to as hate crimes have risen for trans people.

Again for the hard of understanding

Some trans people have so little respect for the boundaries of others that they use single sex spaces to which they are not entitled. They are supported in this by organisations like stonewall who consistently misrepresent ie lie about the equality act in order to intimidate & bully individuals, companies and public bodies into going along with it

Helleofabore · 21/04/2021 07:58

Identifying with Nazi propaganda. Interesting choice.

Bingo!!!

Biscuitsanddoombar · 21/04/2021 07:58

Off to donate to LGBA

littleredberries · 21/04/2021 07:58

Good news

Sometimes it can be fun though! This chess game turned into bingo. Magical isn’t it?

That should dampen discussions as per Godwin’s law!

I do like a game of bingo, must be admitted!
Sophoclesthefox · 21/04/2021 08:01

Dammit, helle, you called it first.

Your bingo prize is a Mumsnet scarf hand woven from yak hair by indigenous guatamalan tribes women.Enjoy!

LastRoloIsMine · 21/04/2021 08:01

The LGB now have a choice of where they go for support, who they support and what issues that specifically affect them are fought for. That cannot be a bad thing?
