LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

But trans men already is the men's room and trans women already use the women's room. Nothing is changing other than it being protected for them to as hate crimes have risen for trans people.

Equality and Human Rights Commission

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is Great Britain’s national equality body. Their job is to safeguard and enforce the laws that protect people’s rights to fairness, dignity and respect. EHRC is a statutory, non-departmental, public body that was established by the Equality Act 2006, and which operates independently.

One of our first actions when LGB Alliance was formed was to start to engage with EHRC about the public confusion on issues relating to sex and gender identity, and the misrepresentation by some organisations of the specifics of the Equality Act 2010. You can read the chain or correspondence between us and EHRC Chief Executive Rebecca Hilsenrath below.

We will be submitting a response to the EHRC’s consultation on their next strategic plan once that consultation opens in 2021. We’ll also be providing details here about how you can do the same." (continues)

Thank you Sophocles!!!! Just what I needed . Grin

Claire4567 · 21/04/2021 08:04

Again. well done LGB Alliance. Becoming registered as a charity can only be a good thing. And will mean that vexatious accusations such as 'transphobic' and 'hate group' and 'homophobic' become more and more transparent seen as silly mud slinging.

As we have established this breaches the Equality Act but is a perfect example of the training that Stonewall is providing that directly harms other protected characteristics (sex) and if a firm example of why they fail the public benefit test and should have their charitable status revoked.

I'll be using this to complain about Stonewall for actively trying to undermine the EA to the detriment of women. Thank you for the link.
ASugarr · 21/04/2021 08:09

If that's what you choose to do then sure. Got no complaints with that.

Who ended up having to take his TikTok video about SuperStraight down, because people were threatening his mother.

It is the same people that have outsourced their critical thinking to influencers wholly invested in gaining prestige and funds. The very act of believing said influencers without question is proof enough of the lack of individual thought.

It would be rather funny, except it has so many negative consequences.

Feelinghothothottoday · 21/04/2021 08:10

Thanks Asugar for the link. There are a few charities I need to complain about including Stonewall ( when it focused on bullying I use to regularly donate) and NSPCA.

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 21/04/2021 08:10

Yeah but I don't see the issue with this. Transgender people already use single sex spaces of their choice and it should be something protected under the equality act

So you don't believe that women should ever have single sex provision. You don't believe that there is any situation where a woman should be able to know for sure that there will not be any males (however they present) there? You don't believe, for example, that a woman should be able to ask for a female for her smear test and actually get a female, rather than a male who identifies as a woman?

And you don't believe that that denigrates women's rights in any way?

Invented by a young man? Shock This is FWR we are only allowed things invented by women. Thanks for warning me!

Yes. Shall we shame all those people who refuse to accept superstraight by association with those threatening him and his mother......

"SCHOOLS CRISIS? WHICH CRISIS?
(extract)
"You may have read in the papers that some local authorities (Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Shropshire, Kent and Barnsley) have been pressured successfully by parents to remove “trans toolkits” from schools as they have been shown to be a danger to children – especially girls.
Outside groups write these kits for schools. They are sometimes described as “specialist groups” but they are not specialists at all. They are gender identity campaigners. That is, they spread their belief that everyone has a “gender identity” which may be different from their biological sex.

Most of them ignore safeguarding protocols: they tell teachers there is no need to inform parents if a child wants to change sex/gender.

They tell 5-year olds and up that they can change sex and promote outdated sexist gender stereotypes.

Some of the materials for secondary school children include advice on BDSM (bondage/discipline, dominance, and submission/sadomasochism) and anal sex. We agree with parents – this should not be happening in schools.

It’s not only “trans toolkits” that contain harmful material. Believe it or not, the UK government and the devolved governments are presiding over this shambles. Instead of delivering, as they maintain, “high-quality, evidence-based and age-appropriate teaching”, our Governments are allowing a range of gender identity lobby groups to sell or provide materials to schools that promote potentially damaging theories." Evidence of that? Plus the whole.super sexuality thing is really homophobic and transphobic. Doesnt surprise me with the threats.
Helleofabore · 21/04/2021 08:15

But you can request your doctors sex.

And yet, a prominent NHS trust used a rape survivors letter requesting confirmation of a female health practitioner for an intimate exam as an example of transphobia. And stonewall did NOT comment on this to correct it. Hmm

Could you give evidence to the claims on a "Trans Toolbox" and the BDSM and inappropriate content for primary school children?

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 21/04/2021 08:18

But you can request your doctors sex. That hasn't changed.

Alongside the abolition of single sex exemptions in the EA, Stonewall have also been campaigning very hard for GRA reform, meaning that any man can get a GRC with absolutely no gatekeeping, with the filling in of a form, which would change their legal sex to female.

Currently there are some exemptions in the EA which mean that even those with a GRC can not use certain female only provision in certain situations (whether one of these exemptions is what sex you come under to perform a smear test, I don't know). It is these exemptions that Stonewall is referring to wanting to end in their campaign materials.

Mugginyouleftrightandcentre · 21/04/2021 08:18

Yep. It's absolutely disgusting.
