LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

OhHolyJesus · 20/04/2021 12:38

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

@Erkrie

Well you are really asugarr. It wouldn't take much for you to be identified should action be taken against you. If you don't realise that then there's no hope really is there. Not posting your evidence up here though are you? So maybe you do realise after all.
Not really. The best people would get is my first name.

KGV charities discriminate against KGVI
ALP charities discriminate against the lazy rich

Its astounding what a poor understanding of the workings of the CC many people.

The fragrant Jolyon was a mediocre contract barrister
who hitched himself to the anti brexit bandwagon
but then thought it was about him not the issue

trust me I've forgotten more charity law
than most sane people would ever want to know

happy for PM's from known names for links and advice

I think far more worrying than some random poster on mumsnet, is the almost universal misinformation about LGB Alliance being posted on MSM web sites.

In fact some article titles are so extreme they make PN headlines look mild.

This is the real enemy, those who have access to the media and flood it with misinformation.

The same people who say any who is gender critical is transphobic.

Its just childish sloganising and are sloppy indolent press just reproduce it in articles as facts.

Given the statement from the charity commission you would think some grown up in the editoral group of these papers would take a look and think maybe we should double check what we are saying.

Its good news that in the 21 Century it is recognised that same sex attraction is a real thing, and that they need support and dont have to become a group that supports everybody else in the world. (The tactics that are undermining women's groups.)

Simon Fanshawe of the LGB Alliance at the LGB Alliance Scotland Launch in Glasgow on 18 January 2020

(Simon Fanshawe co-founded Stonewall)

Interview by Mandy Rhodes for Holyrood
04 November 2019
(extract)
"Fanshawe believes that the Stonewall of today is undermining the rights of lesbians and putting women and girls at risk by “unthinkingly” merging the rights of lesbians and gays with those of trans people through its ‘acceptance without exception’ dogma as it lobbies for transgender people to be able to legally self-identify as the gender they feel they are without having to provide evidence that they have lived in that gender for two years or by having gender dysphoria diagnosed.

And he says many rights won by women are based on their sex, or reproductive status, and that Stonewall has failed to recognise this: “You can’t self-ID out of female genital mutilation – that happens because you are a woman. Your access to abortion and getting pregnant – that happens because you are a woman. Stonewall has confused legal and biological questions with social identity and when you do that, you start to make bad law.”

Fanshawe points to the furore at this year’s London Pride when a group of protestors from ‘Get the ‘L’ Out’ marched to the front of the parade with banners, including one reading ‘Transactivism Erases Lesbians’. Stonewall responded simply by saying that ‘transwomen are women’ and dismissed any deviation from this mantra as ‘transphobic’.

Fanshawe is clearly outraged that Stonewall would choose to ignore the fears of gay women.

“I have never seen a feminist placard that says, ‘Death to trans people’ but I have seen many placards that say, ‘Death to Terfs’ [trans-exclusionary radical feminists] or ‘Punch a Terf’. The violence coming towards lesbians is completely staggering.” (continues)

So true and now he's the saviour of the oppressed, despite having helped the rich dodge millions in tax in his job as a, checks notes, tax lawyer.

Not really. The best people would get is my first name.

I don't suppose you know about the cases where the police have been involved and the platforms have been required to provide their details then right? It's happened here. And it's happened on twitter.

Sophoclesthefox · 20/04/2021 20:12

@SomeonesRealName

Anti abortion???
It’s just smears. Why would they be anti abortion?

They’re not.

As for the rest...

Okay but there would be no reason anyone would do that? I haven't committed a crime 😂

As the mother of a lesbian who has already noticed the way her world is spoiled because of men in any potential lesbian space, who has told me if she and her friends want lesbian or women’s groups, they have to organise in secret, this makes me genuinely happy.

And the rapid growth around the world suggests it’s a much needed initiative.

Anti abortion???
She thinks because someone who is anti-abortion spoke at their event, that the entire organisation is anti-abortion, despite them never saying that. PP is not good at critical reasoning. Same with the GC homophobia Twitter feed. I'm lgb, I didn't find gay people talking on Twitter about their opinions homophobic but then I'm not desperately scraping a barrel.
AbsintheFriends · 20/04/2021 20:17

Mimmybirthingparent has done a twitter thread of "evidence" of LGBA being a hate group. It consists mainly of Penis News articles and tweets from David Paisley.

I feel sorry for the people at the Charities Commission who have to wade through the complaints. The level of argument is... poor, to say the least.

Well the slurs you have made so far, with no evidence, are a crime, but up to you. Its your life and your choice. 😉 Anyway, I'm not going to spend time debating with you. I'm not interested in the questionable choices you make for yourself and whether or not they come back to bite you on the arse.
Instead, I'm going to have a glass of beer and celebrate this step forward for the LGB alliance ☺️

🍻 Cheers.

Sophoclesthefox · 20/04/2021 20:19

If you use the same reasoning by which people arrive at “lgb alliance are anti abortion”, and apply it to this thread, given that a trans ally wished death on us all earlier in the thread, you’d then have to conclude that wishing slow and lingering deaths on Mumsnet users is a key belief of trans allies here.

Should we do that?

No! I’d course we shouldn’t! Use your critical thinking skills, and accept that people are allowed to dissent.

OhHolyJesus · 20/04/2021 20:20

I too am proud to be a part of a organization that isn't homophobic or transphobic.

This is how you can donate.

Did I say one had? But thats no longer an obstacle to police involvement 🤷‍♀️

They may wish death on mums, but something, something, just be kiiiiind.

A gentle reminder that a recent poster critical of the LGB Alliance has their last Mumsnet thread (which was full of inaccurate assertions) linked on their twitter account making false claims about posters on here. Not sure how that's "in the spirit" but it's worth remembering before engaging.

You are, of course, correct. I shall no longer attempt to play chess with the pigeon.

Knock yourself out. Literally no one is stopping you.

Right definitely out now.
