LGB Alliance is now a registered charity

It took over a year...

"LGBA applied to register as a charity in March 2020. Its purposes are to promote equality and diversity and human rights.
The test of charity status is set out in law. A charity is an organisation with exclusively charitable purposes for the public benefit, that is subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of England and Wales. If it meets these legal tests, it will be entered on the charity register.
It is not the Commission’s role to make value judgements about the aims or ideas put forward by any organisation. Instead, its role is to decide whether an organisation’s purposes fall within the legal definition of charity.
The Commission received a number of objections to the registration of LGBA as a charity. It carefully considered these as part of making its decision. In handling this application, the Commission has had regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
Registered charities fall under the Commission’s regulation, and their trustees must continuously meet the legal duties and responsibilities set down under charity law. A charity can promote the rights of one or more specific groups, but may not do so whilst demeaning or denigrating the rights of others, including on social media – and the Commission will consider taking regulatory action where that occurs.
The full decision, explaining the grounds for registering the organisation and the objections that were considered, can be found on GOV.UKK_"

LGB Alliance
“Visibility Blues: Black lesbians refusing to identify out of our oppression.”
Linda Bellos and Allison Bailey talk frankly about lesbian visibility in 2020, discussing why being a lesbian is not merely an identity that one puts on — anymore than being black — it’s a lived reality rooted in struggle that is ongoing. This is manna for the soul in especially trying and uncertain times. The message is one of resistance and hope. A wonderful exchange."
Recorded on 28th April 2020.

The LGB Alliance doesn't

The LGB stands for the LGB. It has no need to include other groups. No charity has to stand for every group of people. People who are against the existence of such a group are homophobic.

titchy · 20/04/2021 19:55

@ASugarr

I'm not transgender. I am a bisexual cisgender woman
Thank you for responding. Smile
ASugarr · 20/04/2021 19:55

Because they've made statements about how young people don't know their sexuality and all that. When actually these groups help young people a lot.

Just a general warning to be careful about clicking on unknown google drive docs.

If that's what you think that's fine. But as someone who is LGB I completely disagree.

Good warning. (I used my MN email which cannot identify me or my workplace.)

This. And homophobic hate crime, discrimination and harassment can be committed by people with the same protected characteristic, it's not a defence.

Sophoclesthefox · 20/04/2021 19:58

All the allegations are just nonsense. Baseless smears that you’d have to squint at really hard to see anything.

Unlike, say, the endless threats the LGB Alliance receive for just existing.

Look, if you don’t care for them, then fine knock yourself out and don’t support them. Nothing of value is lost. Everybody doesn’t have to support everything. It’s ridiculous to devote so much time to smearing them.

OhHolyJesus · 20/04/2021 19:59

I don't know why anyone from the LGB or T 'community' would be upset in any way about this news. If they subscribe to the belief that you can change your sex or they support self ID they can still support Stonewall...

Or did I miss something? Has Stonewall ceased to exist since the CC this announcement today?

How is stating that lgbt clubs in schools are impacting negatively on girls homophobic

Any organisation which has concerns about how gender ideology is affecting and will affect lesbian women should have concerns about lgbT clubs in schools.

If that's how you feel then fine. However I'm proud to at least be a part of a organization that isn't homophobic or transphobic 🤍
Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/04/2021 20:00

I've just linked all the allegations.

Quote them please. No one is going to click on a random google drive. Unless you're worried about being sued for libel? Which I can understand.

Erkrie · 20/04/2021 20:01

Im sure you do disagree. Incredible that someone who claims to be LGB could come out with such slurs against an LGB organisation. Let's hope they don't decide to take further action against you eh, seeing as you are quite identifiable.

RabbitOfCaerbannog · 20/04/2021 20:03

It's very kind of you to regularly join us on Mumsnet to save us from ourselves, but if you could bring some genuine evidence to the thread backing up your claims, that would be helpful.

Erkrie · 20/04/2021 20:03

Yes, I doubt somehow they'll post them here. I second not clicking into someone's random google drive.

Wouldn't say im very identifiable really. But I'm off to fill out my formal complaint to the charity commission🤍
stumbledin · 20/04/2021 20:05

I dont think ASugarr is aware who LGB Alliance is. These is the usual american woke litany about how gc feminists work with right wing evengelicals. Dont engage.

LGB Alliance have never commented on abortion or anything. They exists to promote the right of people of either sex to be same sex attracted.

No more, not less.

And seeing as LGBA has a formidable barrister at its helm.
SomeonesRealName · 20/04/2021 20:06

Anti abortion???

Leafstamp · 20/04/2021 20:06

@ASugarr

FYI I’d check the CC complaints procedure. I think you’ll find that they require that you complain direct to the charity first.

Erkrie · 20/04/2021 20:07

Well you are really asugarr. It wouldn't take much for you to be identified should action be taken against you. If you don't realise that then there's no hope really is there. Not posting your evidence up here though are you? So maybe you do realise after all.

WhatsGoin · 20/04/2021 20:07

Absolutely over the moon about this!

Erkrie · 20/04/2021 20:07

Oh yes.
