As a candidate for London mayor Laurence Fox has answered five questions on women's rights and it is a breath of fresh air. Highlights being:

First of all, the police cannot protect what it does not define. We acknowledge that women are adult human females. They are vulnerable as a result of biological sex.

Acknowledge that The Equality Act 2010 provides legislative protection for women by virtue of their sex. We will enforce it without fear or favour and protect the rights of women to single sex spaces.

Ring fence funding for single-sex refuges and support services

Lets hope this puts pressure on the other candidates

I thought the stork brought them?

Lord/ count is a clear indicator of masculine pronouns.

@Ohforarainyday

Google brings nothing.

It does for me.

Laurence Fox, Sunday Times interview 26th April 2020.

Fox decided to tell the Times journalist that the makeup artist on 'Victoria' had made a formal complaint of sexual harassment against him (you can read details of the sexual harassment complaint online) and that her letter of complaint sent to the production had been passed to him.

Fox not only told the journalist this, but actually brought the letter along to the interview, and did a 'dramatic monologue reading' of the complaint letter, in order to take the piss out of it.

The poor makeup artist made a complaint privately to her boss. Fox outed her in a national newspaper, read her private complaint letter to a journalist, and used it to mock her.

He's made plenty of comments in interviews showing that he treated Billie Piper like crap and engaged in behaviour many people would consider emotional abuse. The quote about trying to "wind the fuck out of her" for instance.

Thank you

I think I have found this but it's behind a paywall

I suppose it's going to be like deciding between Trump and Biden in terms of how pervy I think they are.

I just posted this on another thread

I think David Kuerten is anti lockdown but I can't vote for anti abortionist.

@Ohforarainyday

Laurence Fox is an abuser who mocked and outed a woman who'd accused him of sexual harassment, is everyone just forgetting that?
Actors, says Fox, have lovely voices and are good at reading poetry, but they’re pretenders and, as we know, thick. An anonymous letter of complaint — read out lavishly by Fox, complete with voices — to the makers ofVictoriaabout his behaviour reveals exactly how impossible they can be. In the show, he plays the cane-twirling Lord Palmerston, a “womaniser” and flirt who is “very bright” but, like Fox, loves a “vulgar following”. According to the letter, Fox spent the whole four-day shoot “prancing and leaping about … entwining legs and motioning having sex” with another actor.

“There was constant use of the F and C word,” Fox reads, and on the final day of filming “he asked in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear … if [a female member of the make-up team] preferred a circumcised cock or an uncircumcised one”, he says, collapsing into laughter: the make-up artist is a “top chum”. “Actors are actors,” he says. “They’re meant to play. I mean, we’d all have a very boring day” if they weren’t prancing around “shagging”. “It’s what you’re paid for. You’re not paid for a brain.” But what did she say? “Uncircumcised,” he laughs.

bourbonne · 20/03/2021 19:38

So it's not quite how it was described then. It wasn't the make-up artist who made the complaint. It was an anonymous letter that complained about his conduct in general. I'd massively raise my eyebrows at the cock question in an office, but that doesn't necessarily translate to a location set with actor and "top chum" make-up artist camped out at all hours. Showbiz is another world, completely unprofessional, exploitative and bonkers compared to normal jobs. Where do you start?

EightiesRobot · 20/03/2021 21:04

No way am I voting for that arse. He is using GC concerns to get votes. In a way this is good news as it suggests people are starting to realise there are votes in supporting women's rights but Laurence Fox is not an ally and could damage momentum if GC gets associated with him.

siyhack58342 · 20/03/2021 21:10

Can't believe people want to align with Laurence Fox but there you go

NiceGerbil · 20/03/2021 21:24

Who is aligning with LF?

What are your views on binhead?

That sort of thing is fairly common in workplaces where people almost live together and socialise together and date and are kind of cut off from others.

It leads to a lot of unhealthy stuff but it's also really not like an office environment in ways that are legitimate. It can make for a bad combination.

NiceGerbil · 20/03/2021 21:27

If 'aligning with' means calling him an arse, tosser, wanker etc then I'd be interested to know what not aligning with looks like :D

CovidCorvid · 20/03/2021 21:30

He’s been on the anti lockdown March today.

NiceGerbil · 20/03/2021 21:35

And tomorrow he's going to eat a live mouse.

I mean who cares he's a dick.

I wish binhead had better policies :(

It's probably the same line of logic as on that tedious thread about the American journalist. The one where we were told over and over again that opposing him being beaten up by yobs was the same thing as endorsing every word he'd ever entered in his blog.

I mean, we've called Fox a lot of names here. But no-one has posted about wanting to physically hurt him. So that's probably being counted as "aligning" with the tosser.

NiceGerbil · 20/03/2021 22:12

I don't remember the American journalist ones.

In general people being beaten up is not a good thing though.

PotholeHellhole · 20/03/2021 22:13

He was called Andy Ngo.
