@YetAnotherSpartacus

Exactly - and yet mumsnet facilitates such piles-on

And many of them against women who are regular posters (such as teachers) or otherwise in the public eye (such as Meghan Markle). That’s ok apparently and it is often those calling out the pile-on who are deleted if they are a bit blunt or sweary.

It’s not just the pile ons. This is forum for parents and on some of these threads, there were posters who were writing their personal experiences about medical issues based on incredibly incorrect or incomplete (or both!) information. Not only were they doing this every few posts, they were refusing to engage in multiple requests for clinical data and it’s very dangerous for the average reader who does not have access or understanding of these data or the lack thereof! I strongly it was very upsetting to see how so many parents will read those posts, take a message from them that is incorrect and patently false and then potentially face situations where they have to face decisions like these. It’s on us and on MNHQ to challenge them. These posters went to a great length to find a total of three posts of mine that they could then get deleted. What about the parents who read the false/inaccurate information posted by these people? I have decided to report every such posts now. I will first challenge them with a time limit within which to respond. And then I will report them for severe breach of Mumsnet policy and spirit of this site. This site is for parents by parents and there is no way these kind of posts should be allowed. At least one of these posters had obvious mental health issues most likely as a consequence of the trauma they went though for the last few years. It still does not give them any right to post information here that is incorrect and that can cause permanent long term damage to other people’s children.

I don't have any strikes, so I could tomorrow. I don't feel at all knowledgeable so someone else may be better. The 50:50 panel has two tW and 4 women from what I can tell.

Nameitychangity · 19/02/2021 21:30

Yes, also had a deletion on the thread. For literally stating the biological chromosomal makeup of transwomen.

I've said it before. Science itself is under attack. Being rewritten. We are being airbrushed out.
Its a brave new world.

picklemewalnuts · 19/02/2021 21:32

The panel event is on Sunday night.

I really like posting on this forum and reading the most eloquent of posts, that over the last few years have allowed me to really understand the issue and, most importantly put this into the real life action I’ve taken directly, challenging one particular aspect of this ideology (to little avail yet unfortunately☹️). The case has always been made that discussion is allowed here that isn’t allowed elsewhere and we should be grateful. However it’s clear that certain topics can be discussed and certain statements are now able to be made elsewhere that cannot be made here. For example, if a male born person had made such similar statements on a feminist Twitter feed as was made on that thread, the “ratio” of replies would have been much different to a few years ago and clear statements of biological reality would have been able to be made without deletion.

Currently, as applied to MN FWR specifically and not the rest of the site, the realities are “we allow free discussion at great cost to us and you should be grateful” but only if posters:

• avoid stating biological reality in many situations
• comply with gender ideology with regards to pronouns, or butcher the English language to avoid this, or use appropriate sex pronouns for some bad people [waves moderation hand vaguely]
• don’t discuss the statements celebrities have made in public about their gender even though it’s all in the public domain
• don’t tell posters who are posting that their view isn’t agreed with in numbers we consider too great (no fixed percentage, likely different to what is allowed in AIBU)
• don’t challenge posters with their own words or Twitter posts
• don’t call anything grooming, even if it is
• don’t use any of the other banned words that aren’t listed anywhere for you to know what they are, you’re just supposed to learn as you go what words are not acceptable
• don’t point out the realities of treatments for children too accurately
• don’t expect a great deal of consistency
• don’t post things that don’t “add to the discussion”
• don’t link to Twitter if those links demonstrate a particular point
• understand that special deletion rules apply here that don’t apply elsewhere
• keep within “the spirit” even though “the spirit” is ill-defined, varies daily, and varies depending on whether it’s AIBU, FWR etc.

And all the while we are told of this unseen “great cost” that it brings. I can’t really take issue with MNHQ moderating how they see fit (well I can, but there doesn’t seem to be much point), but their “we are so much more allowing than elsewhere” is starting to look at little bit sanctimonious. Males complained about posts and they were deleted. It’s hardly a high benchmark that is being set here. We can be grateful for what we have, but that doesn’t make it amazing.

Gosh, what a lovely thread. I fully expected it to be pulled when I started it TAAT and all that

But it's become an important discussion. THanks!

pickleme, I wonder if that panel is something many women might like to know about? Is it advertised anywhere?

There's nothing on the 5050 Parliament site, but I eventually found a link via this page:

You can register here:

picklemewalnuts · 20/02/2021 12:13

It's on the 50:50 Facebook page.

MichelleofzeResistance · 20/02/2021 12:15

Hands up any woman inspired so far?

Just checking.....

ArabellaScott · 20/02/2021 12:49

Thanks, OldCrone. I couldn't find anything on the web page, either!

Michelle - inspired. Perhaps, but maybe not in the way intended.

Kettlingur · 20/02/2021 17:10

It is the same ol' same ol'. Bunch of males deciding what women are allowed to talk about.

Catmaiden · 20/02/2021 17:21

And today we have had a ddos attack.
Quelle surprise!
Guess the watchers really didn't like what we were saying.

I'll never, in a month of Sundays, understand why they don't get that telling people they can't talk about something makes them talk about it more.

do you think we're getting warmer??
ValancyRedfern · 20/02/2021 18:01

I've signed up for the webinar tomorrow, but I'm not sure my blood pressure can take it...

Odd that it's not on their website. I had to go to the twitter link to register.

Frustrating.
