Thank you!

@picklemewalnuts

There were some wonderful posts. I wonder if someone who archives could make a new account, with a new name and email address, and post all the deleted comments in a new thread. 🧐 that would be interesting to read.

Obviously the strike rate would be horrendous, so it would need careful consideration. I'd just really like to see the deleted posts. Perhaps out of the context of that thread they would be ok? I mean, they were all ok unless you were a man with a really fragile ego who can't bear dissent or truth.

Please don't do this.

MNHQ are bending over backwards to allow women's voices to be heard in this debate and it we know it has cost them in terms of advertising revenue and probably other ways too.

They have to be non-partisan, no matter what, as individuals and collectively, their private opinions might be.

And yes, I had two posts removed too (the first in years). It would have been far easier for MNHQ to just take the thread down but they've taken what must have been an awful lot of resources to let it stand.

And Winesalot undoubtedly won the thread!

lifeturnsonadime · 18/02/2021 14:08

Something that 'doesn't add to the discussion' can lead to a strike apparently. I've asked for further clarification.

Hopefully I won't now be deleted for posting this as I'm on 2 strikes now.

boatyardblues · 18/02/2021 14:09

@Dalyesque

Star Star Star to all the brilliant women who contributed such clear posts. It was pretty much cheese when I caught up early. Why do mnhq think they are doing anyone a favour by deleting so many of us. Surely it can’t be all about threats of court action, and from what I saw the posts were civil, but robust. The truth appears to be hurting who, precisely?
They are also shooting themselves in the foot. When they delete perfectly civil posts that are within the rules, they leave Swiss cheese that the monitors on Twatter can point at and say “look how much transphobia they have to delete on MN!” 🤦‍♀️
YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/02/2021 14:10

Dunno about. Orpington Crescent. This has elements of Calvin ball.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/02/2021 14:10

Mornington. Grrrr.

Floisme · 18/02/2021 14:13

I do have some sympathy with MNHQ. I've been on here a while and I can't remember a thread like that - not one that still seems to be attracting mass reports after it's full. They're clearly being run ragged.

ArabellaScott · 18/02/2021 14:14

Does it, really? I'd be interested to know whether it does or not. MN seems to be doing pretty well, as far as I can see. I might actually get round to signing up for premium one of these days.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/02/2021 14:15

I think deletions are still being made.

ArabellaScott · 18/02/2021 14:15

Yes, Flo, it is interesting which posts attract so much attention.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 18/02/2021 14:20

The ones referencing a certain interesting twitter account are gone despite this account being in the public domain and also being quite ... problematic in terms of how being a woman was represented.

So they are having to censor their own movement?
Winesalot · 18/02/2021 14:22

Well.... I reckon Barraker won the thread hands down. I got the lucky last word.

MichelleofzeResistance · 18/02/2021 14:23

I too have sympathy with HQ. The pressure is relentless, the penalties are real. However doesn't it just illustrate how well this awful behaviour works for the lobby in question?

Sweets every time.

Winesalot · 18/02/2021 14:24

So they are having to censor their own movement?

It could be said...

Floisme · 18/02/2021 14:24

Yes it's been the most illuminating thread I've seen in a long time.

CoffeeTeaChocolate · 18/02/2021 14:28

Now I understand, those are some of the missing posts.

I never went to Twitter to look at any posts, I had the impression that there were some unpleasant pictures on there.

But this is actually a bit scary. If we not are allowed to reference biology and we not are allowed to comment on public, unsavoury hobbies, then how can we discuss suitability for certain public positions where there purports to be quota for females?

MichelleofzeResistance · 18/02/2021 14:31

We can't. That's the whole point.

Sophoclesthefox · 18/02/2021 14:37

I was deleted for linking to and commenting on Twitter accounts. I can see why that post and posts like it weren’t left to stand, to be honest. I assume that the tweeter in question doesn’t like the thought of MNers poring over their timeline, and escalating the conflict from this end won’t help. And I know it’s maddening to feel that power imbalance and the sense of injustice, but I don’t know that mumsnet alone can remedy that.

I’m worried about the strikes people are getting though. That seems so harsh to me when I really do think the majority of women here really do try their best in difficult circumstances Sad

picklemewalnuts · 18/02/2021 14:38

Is that twitter account still standing open?

RozWatching · 18/02/2021 14:45

But this is actually a bit scary. If we not are allowed to reference biology and we not are allowed to comment on public, unsavoury hobbies, then how can we discuss suitability for certain public positions where there purports to be quota for females?

Quite. This is exactly why we are in this mess and people are asking where are the feminists Hmm

OvaHere · 18/02/2021 14:51

I actually don't think that's the case here. That poster made no attempt as far as I can see to hide their twitter account, even going as far as to reference the thread from it.

I suspect it's other people reporting who dislike the level of scrutiny that poster brought about (entirely by themselves I should add).

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/02/2021 14:59

YY.

womanity · 18/02/2021 15:00

I got deleted for making a generalisation and not being in the spirit.

Mostly I’m just sad about the whole thing.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 18/02/2021 15:05

That tweeter made it clear that they think they have the right to take up a 50:50 place to represent women's interests at a political level while making it clear that they conflate 'woman' with 'bimbo' in their twitter feed.
Maybe I'll get deleted for this or a strike, but the facts are there in that person's own statements and twitter feed.
That is of massive public interest and would be hugely damaging to women if it came to pass.
I really don't think that MN should be censoring that and the fact those posts are being mass-reported in order to remove them, tells me that the reporters know just how bad it makes them look.

Yes, but Barracker is our Supreme Leader and above such things.

You got the mic drop Grin
