Turns out that Kathryn isn't white;

mobile.twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343593857787830272

'I'm also not white, so they didn't really get anything right'

Though they do look remarkably white;

greensofcolour.greenparty.org.uk/kathryn-bristow-lgbtiqa-officer/

They were the Equality & Diversity officer for both the local and regional party, and on the LGBTIQA+ Greens and Greens of Colour committees;

greensofcolour.greenparty.org.uk/our-people/

It isn't clear if Kathryn is claiming to be trans-racial. They are certainly claiming to be not white by their own written words. Perhaps some further investigation is required.

Terriblewithmoney · 07/02/2021 21:55

I note that Bristow wants to help women by 'decriminalising prostitution'.

It does feel a bit like trolling doesn't it?

Wotapolava · 07/02/2021 22:15

@highame

Membership appears to be about 52,000 and about 40 women have left. I wish it were more because in my book, that doesn't really do much, unless they were all very actively involved.
Bigger numbers ditch the BBC by the day?
RobinMoiraWhite · 07/02/2021 23:16

Out of 50,000 plus Green Party members, around 40 left because of this issue. Typical Daily Mail non-story. Nothing to see, move along...

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 07/02/2021 23:31

Having a non female heading up a women's group in a political party is a story, though. So no, I won't 'move along'.

DdraigGoch · 07/02/2021 23:39

Women do head up and lead male specific groups/charities though
@J0rd0 the thing is though that they are devoted to specific medical causes and their staff will have been hired on their management/finance/comms/research abilities. In the same way that the finance director of the RNLI need never have been to sea.

Imagine though a woman tasked with developing policy on the issue of masculinity. She could look up about suicide rates and gang violence (I'm having to do a lot of googling while writing this to find out what the issues are) but to get a real idea of the root causes she'd end up having to ask a man. After all, she has no first hand experience of being a boy with no male role models at home or in school so cannot emphasise with boys who join gangs in order to fit in.

In the same way, Bristow won't know what it is like at be levered at as a 12 year old by grown men, nor being passed over for promotion in case 'she' might have kids.

I don’t disagree with you. I was just calling out other comments/blanket statements about the suitability of women leading men’s groups. They do, and charities are a good example of where it isn’t an issue what gender heads it. It’s more nuanced.
Pepealthusser · 08/02/2021 11:54

Why did they leave?

Wotapolava · 08/02/2021 14:25

News Headlines - Daily Fail

Mass exodus in Green Party which prompted a name change due to both their misery and advocate for decriminalisation of prostitution shall now be known as the Blue Party.

Nevermind, they were assholes like us anyway - said The Brown Party.

"More chance of us winning now they have gone to seed"
said the Orange Party.

"You are all racist" said The White Party.

And they all lived happily ever after!

prisencolinensinainciusol2 · 08/02/2021 14:26

Eh?

Tittie · 08/02/2021 14:56

I've been looking back at their tweets and how they suggest getting rid of the 'concept' of sex.

Yet they also shared the tweet I've attached below.

Am I getting this all wrong? Can FGM exist if there is no such thing as sex, and therefore females?

highame · 08/02/2021 15:13

When I pointed out the small number of women who left the GP, I wasn't saying this was a non-story because as someone pointed out a MtF trans person is joint lead of the women's section and that is a big story. My comment was that I wish it had been a greater number leaving, so that the party would have been rocked to a re-think.

If you chose to say it's a non-story, you're welcome but you might be in the minority

WeAreGerbil · 08/02/2021 15:27

I suspect it is a greater number who have left, the 40 are just the ones that have identified themselves.

Gurufloof · 08/02/2021 15:28

maybe this is an argument to sign up then and fight from within

People keep saying this, about labour as well as greens. I earn a pittance being part time, I refuse to spend a solitary penny on fighting from the inside. They dont deserve my money if they dont recognise me.
But even if I earned hundreds of thousands a year, I still wouldnt give any party money.
Especially parties that dont see me. Women have been hard working in the background for decades now, and still when we ask for some fairly minor thing, we are told as soon as this vvvvvv important man stuff is sorted out, we'll get to your issues. But this never happens.
Well no more. Not by me anyway.

Terriblewithmoney · 08/02/2021 15:38

Yeah. That was a pretty fucking telling comment wasn't it? Hmm

Also, I thought they be believed penises can be female, so does FGM include circumcision? Confused
CranberriesChoccyAgain · 08/02/2021 15:48

@Pepealthusser

Why did they leave?
I thought it was something along the lines of getting lost in transgender ideology and forgetting about environmental issues.
Merename · 08/02/2021 15:51
The Green Party retweeted this, no wonder women are leaving them. They really are stupid beyong belief.

twitter.com/LGBTIQAGreens/status/1357681068988649472
A quote from that article:

JK has 'liked' tweets saying that women who have penises shouldn’t be in changing rooms with cis women. But how is that any different from saying lesbians shouldn’t be in changing rooms with straight girls…the implication is the same, that they might be perpeatrators of sexual assault. TERF ideology is that trans-women are closet rapists.

What an absurd question- do they really not understand that lesbians are statistically not a threat to women when compared with people born with a penis?

merrymouse · 08/02/2021 16:00

it's on the same level as "climate change, ha ha ha, I'd love some warmer weather LOL!!!", but more offensive.

However, MPs can discuss climate change without risk of abuse - or at least if they are attacked by crackpots their fellow MPs will support them.

ChancesWhatChances · 08/02/2021 16:02

They’ll never be in power, they’ve 1 MP as far as I’m aware. They’re a bogus party that do Jack shit for the country, and hopefully that’s the way they’ll stay too.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 08/02/2021 16:02

^^There are still people who think that sexual attraction is the motivation for sexual assault. 🙄

It's the Daily Mail - 39 of those probably had subscriptions run out but didn't know because the email didn't come through or can't afford to renew.

Can you post a screenshot. I’m blocked 🤷🏼‍♀️
Soontobe60 · 08/02/2021 16:10

Also, Bristow’s just posted a crowd finder for facial feminisation surgery.

C&P:

^How come a national paper is interested in what dozens are doing in a party of 50k+ members?&

&How is a woman elected as co-chair of a women's group by women mean that we are losing representation?&

I've always been a woman and no, I don't think we solve sexism that way.
