I think this is the comment about abolishing sex as a concept: www.twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343576561627361281

Misguided and naive at best, horribly misogynistic at worst. Does Bristow really have no idea how much being female affects people's lives and how even if we 'abolished sex as a concept' it would continue to do so?

Popsy321 · 07/02/2021 09:26

@Awning10

I close my eyes and imagine being Head of a Men specific group.... prostate stuff, testicular cancer, erectile issues, expectations around masculinity, etc. Of course I would have empathy but no real understanding at all.
And you'd never be so arrogant, bullish, thick-skinned and oblivious to, in any way, assume you were suitable for the role.
newyearnewname123 · 07/02/2021 09:43

When Bristow was elected co-chair of Green Party women they put up this tweet, it was pinned for about a month.

mobile.twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343544536983871488

I'll make a full statement on my vision for an intersectional
@TheGreenParty
shortly

I've been checking back every so often to see their vision statement. The idea seems to have been quietly dropped and their current pinned tweet is about trans rights.

The only reason they wanted on to the women's committee was to displace women, they have no interest in women's rights at all.

It makes me think of well meaning but oh so tone deaf white people who say ‘I don’t see colour’.

Yes sweetheart, shut down that difficult conversation because it’s uncomfortable for you.

Hoiking · 07/02/2021 09:55

Why do these Transwomen always seem to float to the top?? It's almost as if they have some sort of ingrained belief in their own superiority that sees them pushing women out of the way as they juggernaut their way up the chain.

StillAFeminist2 · 07/02/2021 09:58

What happened to that fella who was hoping to improve the Green Party after the Challenors left? Was going to stand as chair was getting some backlash from the trans lobby in the party. I’ve forgotten his name Confused

@Wrongsideofhistorymyarse

'Trust the science on climate change'

'Sex is a spectrum'

Climate is socially constructed. That iceberg is identifying as warm.
Tibtom · 07/02/2021 10:00

The Greens are so small and of no real political importance

In Scotland they hold the balance of power. The SNP rely on them to get votes through the Scottish Parliament.

I don't think there is anything well meaning in this case, but yes.

Jocasta2018 · 07/02/2021 10:01

Ah yes.... A woman as the Head of a Men group!
You could push vasectomy as very man-friendly contraception - 'No more worries about getting a woman up the duff - 'Get the snip! It's easily reversible & means you only hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet when YOU want to'.
Plus - 'A child is for life, not just for the birth (& then you can bugger off)'.
Truly forward thinking.

Yes, it's almost like men in any other sphere of life. But on steroids.

Women do head up and lead male specific groups/charities though (prostatecanceruk.org/about-us/who-we-are/our-people) However I feel that Bristow is doing it to gain further acceptance of their identity as opposed to seeing it as a job where they can have a valid input and support women.
merrymouse · 07/02/2021 10:34

The Greens are so small and of no real political importance

But they are still invited to debate on TV when there is an election and they are often presented as the voice of environmentalism.

Caroline Lucas was interviewed regularly throughout the EU referendum campaign.

Coverage for small parties can be greater than would be justified by vote share if they can represent ‘BBC balance’ or generate eye catching headlines.

However, because most people don’t have the time or inclination to get involved in politics and the structure of small parties often mirrors big parties, there often isn’t much competition to fill posts.

Does the DM article mention whether anyone else put themselves forward for this position?

zzizzer · 07/02/2021 10:36

Love it

RozWatching · 07/02/2021 10:38

And they think we will trust them on climate change where facts, science and accuracy are essential?

I'm surprised they haven't 'queered' climate change yet. I mean, why not?

Repeat after us: nonrenewables are renewables

ArabellaScott · 07/02/2021 10:39

Bristow works for GenderGP. Head of which is Dr Helen Webberley, whose license to practice in the UK remains suspended. But the co is still prescribing to those who want to sidestep NHS processes.

Jsnn · 07/02/2021 10:40

Crazy. I use to be a member of green party and have voted green before.

I had to stop my membership because I would get 2 or 3 emails about LGBTQ+ agenda for every 1 email I was getting about climate/environment. I cancelled it like 2 years ago.

Its crazy, they just attach themselves to whatever the current woke movement is and try and use that as their support base. Its quite sad because lately people finally started caring about environment and there is no rational party to vote for that gives a crap about environmental policy.

Can’t understand why the Greens don’t just solve the climate crisis by rejecting temperature as a concept. That really is on a spectrum, and we all know that people experience heat differently.

People might argue that there is an underlying reality that exists regardless of human perception, but what do they know?

If we abolish climate change as a concept then global warming is no longer an issue. Temperature is a spectrum - It’s been changing for hundreds of years. All deserts have some water in them anyway and rising sea levels are fine because, clownfish

That's true and I take the point about the SNP - maybe this is an argument to sign up then and fight from within?

Well it’s so obviously true Grin
