Simulated pregnancy and induced lactation

Should possibly come with all sorts of trigger/content warnings.

DH just sent me this:

twitter.com/godblesstoto/status/1311050509072113664?s=20

TW simulating pregnancy and birth (in a house where their STBEx-wife and children live), already “planning” that the baby will be stillborn, and then wondering aloud if someone will lend them a baby to breastfeed.

All in a group for mothers taking medication so they can produce milk for their babies. Given how poor breastfeeding support is for many mothers in all parts of the world I can’t work out whether I’m more offended, disgusted, or terrified that this person has centred themselves and has people cheering them on.

DH questioned why women were commenting in support - I said it was part of the socialisation to “be nice”. His response was that it’s not being nice, it’s dangerous. And he’s right, but why can so many women not see it? Does it go beyond socialisation? According to other posts in the thread women were removed from the group for saying the person’s post was offensive/triggering to those who had experienced the loss of a child.

I don’t even know why I’m posting it really, other than I was so agog and this is one of the few places open to comment on things since I abandoned twitter

@NewlyGranny

This person is LARP(Live Action rôle play)ing at home and LARPing at work and other people are enabling it and providing the audience, Even the 7yo child is being drawn in as collaborator and photographer to validate the LARP.

Imagine someone coming into work every day in rôle as a Viking warrior or an Egyptian slave, or as an historical figure - Elizabeth I anyone?

How would that go down in your workplace? Would everyone play along for 40 weeks?!

This person needs help to conquer an obsession and ultimately it isn't kind to admire the emperor's new clothes.

Or a white person blacking up and LARPing Deep South slavery at work.

Would go down like a cup of cold sick.

gamerchick · 01/10/2020 20:20

@TheMostHappy

I must have missed the bit about it being a "planned stillbirth" - and even then I found it utterly abhorrent. Can anyone link please?
If you click on the Twitter thread on page 1 and go to the second lot of photos underneath the first, it's in the comments.
YoBeaches · 01/10/2020 20:53

I'm struggling to find any sensible words but @BewaretheIckabog says it perfectly.

He doesn't even have enough respect to separate from his wife first, instead wants her to collaborate and support.

Cos that's all women are for - validating the Man.

There's an appropriate song for this by rage against the machine. It's goes...

"Fuck you, I won't do what you tell me"

I hope she plays it a lot.

nepeta · 01/10/2020 21:26

Yes, enabling this behavior is like an employer validating an employee's anorexia by making sure the employee has barely nothing to eat at work and by asking all the other workers to agree with the employee when she calls herself fat.

Datun · 01/10/2020 21:40

@turquoisecarpet

I'm so deeply offended by this. When I breastfed I had problems with baby's latch. My breasts bled and looked like someone had taken a razor to my nipples s I would feed and cry in pain. Eventually we discovered tongue tie and everything got sorted. Even posting this makes me angry. Some trans person might borrow this information to add to their lists of fetishising what women actually go through. Makes me sad for all women tbh.
It's about fetishising women's oppression. So the worse your experience is, the more useful it becomes.

It's such a mindfuck, it's breathtaking.

BewaretheIckabog · 01/10/2020 22:04

I will say it again - Gabrielle does not have a MH condition. Gabrielle is fully aware of what Gabrielle is doing. Without an interesting trans id and a fake pregnancy Gabrielle is just another boring person.

TinselAngel · 01/10/2020 22:37

Why is it considered more extreme for a male to say he is pregnant than it is for him to say he's a woman in the first place?

AngeloMysterioso · 01/10/2020 22:54

Why is it considered more extreme for a male to say he is pregnant than it is for him to say he's a woman in the first place?

Good question, now I think about it...

Maybe because there are actual real women who are unable to get pregnant? So they’re leapfrogging them in terms of exclusively female experiences, or womanhood or something... except it’s all bullshit.

Imagine being a woman who is desperate to get pregnant but can’t, or has suffered loss, and here’s this individual “simulating” the entire thing, including a stillbirth which is a deeply traumatic thing to endure, and not only are very few people standing up to them, most people- in majority women- are actually enthusiastically going along with it and “validating” them.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 01/10/2020 23:06

Don't know, Tinsel.

If the person is transgender and treated as the opposite sex in law and by society, and part of the social contract of that is the person will live as per their adopted sex, then, this is a natural progression.

Curiously, though, I haven't seen any trans women expressing much of an interest in menopausal issues.

nepeta · 01/10/2020 23:12

Why is it considered more extreme for a male to say he is pregnant than it is for him to say he's a woman in the first place?

Perhaps most people don't think that the claim of womanhood applies to biology, but just means that someone wishes to be treated as a woman in social contexts? I believe my initial support for trans inclusion was based on an unexamined assumption that this would mean places like work, school, and socialising with others outside those.

I am not sure why I assumed that no trans woman would want to compete against women in sports after having had a fairly successful sports career already while competing against men, thus fully aware that she was going to win all the races.

Or why I assumed that no trans woman would apply for grants earmarked for women due to past sex-based oppression when her sex differed from the one the grants were intended for.

Perhaps because it seemed so obvious to me that everyone would see why such acts are inappropriate? The example in this thread is simply a more extreme form of that inappropriate behaviour.

Queenoftheashes · 01/10/2020 23:18

Women die in childbirth, just wtf. What if I decided to pretend I had cancer and simulate dying of it? People would correctly think I was a cunt. This is gross.

testing987654321 · 01/10/2020 23:22

Why is it considered more extreme for a male to say he is pregnant than it is for him to say he's a woman in the first place?

It isn't. It's ridiculous that people are using the term woman for anyone who isn't a woman.

WishIWasSomewhereElse · 01/10/2020 23:23

He's managed to pump milk (apparently). Lots of comments saying he has managed more than any biological woman has managed this soon after birth. Lots of comments saying he's managed to produce colostrum (which you don't get if you haven't given birth apparently), which means he's better at 'womaning' than natal ladies.

Datun · 02/10/2020 00:02

Ugh. And I bet a zillion pounds that's not milk.

Wandawomble · 02/10/2020 00:50

That milk isn’t milk.

HeirloomTomato · 02/10/2020 05:08

The amount of women on that thread validating this person's mental illness is quite something. I actually find that more disturbing than the person's own delusions. Playing along like this, validating, encouraging it, hunting actual mothers who have experienced stillbirth off the forum... why? What are they getting out of it?

There have always been people with fetishes and obsessions and odd mental hang-ups. It's nothing new. What's new is the buy-in from society at large and the idea that somehow this is a valid identity someone is expressing and not a mental health problem that requires therapy and intervention.

HecatesHat · 02/10/2020 07:24

What are they getting out of it?

They think they're being 'good'. Embracing 'the most' oppressed minority. 'Infatuated with their own moral virtues' as someone put it.

TirisfalPumpkin · 02/10/2020 07:29

This is just non consensual fetish play involving a bunch of kind hearted women who didn’t agree to be fap fuel. Wtf.

ChewtonRoad · 02/10/2020 07:35

"Gabrielle" is a space-occupying lesion on the world. The monstrous ego in action is revolting to see.
Heartbreaking for the STBXW and children. Flowers to those who've had miscarriages and are doing what they can to deal with it.

highame · 02/10/2020 07:38

Curiously, though, I haven't seen any trans women expressing much of an interest in menopausal issues. Grin

I'm just watching and waiting for it to appear on the 'it'll never happen thread'

ComeONreally · 02/10/2020 07:39

Ew I don’t ever remember my milk being brown sludge Envy

Kettlingur · 02/10/2020 07:40

I think the fact this person is trans is blinding some people (like the women on Facebook) to how incredibly weird this whole thing is. I don't think for one minute a woman would get as much sympathy, hand holding, and support if she came on a forum and said she was going to simulate a pregnancy and still birth.

Well yes, exactly. It underlines how not even the TWAW crowd treats trans women like women. They treat Gabrielle like an extra special man.

If they treated Gabrielle like a woman, they'd tell her to get help and send her links to psychiatric services, and then probably close comments.

testing987654321 · 02/10/2020 08:25

Is it all over now? Can then come to their senses and kick him out?

Ylvamoon · 02/10/2020 08:49

No words just: 🤮🤮🤮

Haworthia · 02/10/2020 10:31

Indeed.

And I can’t help but draw parallels with all the Mumsnetters who get drawn into dodgy threads sharing anecdotes about poo, urine, periods and teenage girls with massive breasts 🤦‍♀️
