Just watched it, it featured Benjamin Butterworth, George Galloway and Rose of Dawn. BB got his arse handed to him by Piers and Rose was brilliant! Well worth a watch! It was on at 8.15 so you can watch it in an hours time if you're at home. Also Twitter reactions were v positive, with pp wanting to buy the book as a result!

@ZuttZeVootEeeVro

Couldn't GMB find one women with an opinion?

I'm sick of hearing what men think is and isn't transphobic. And never hearing what is and isn't misogynistic.

I noticed the imbalance in the panel. Same old same old: men talking about women’s lives.

This is a lovely thread:

ArabellaScott · 16/09/2020 17:46

Sorry, not thread. hashtag. Obviously I'm not cut out for Twitter, thank god.

Rockbird · 16/09/2020 18:19

That was a 10/10 solid gold arse-handing. How wonderful. I don't know Rose but I'll be looking her up now and that eejit Benjamin was like a toddler who couldn't have more crisps.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 16/09/2020 18:30

Funny isn't it that these TRA's (not Rose) and their 'allys' are more than happy to incite hatred and actual threats on women, yet cry that talking about biological facts supposedly incites hatred on trans people. Which it utter bollocks.

yourhairiswinterfire · 16/09/2020 18:37

Just watched it, what an absolute tit BB looked. I hope he gets his arse sued for those claims JKR has been derogatory towards trans people. People seriously need to learn the difference between libel and free speech. Honestly, JKR must have the patience of an absolute saint to put up with these smears.

Loved Rose of Dawn. Her face when BB was speaking was priceless! She deserved more airtime, I wanted to hear more from her.

And completely off topic, but I loved the way George Galloway said 'murderer'. I smile every time I hear a Scot say it (which probably makes me sound a bit sinister Grin )

CoolYourBeansMySon · 16/09/2020 18:37

That was better than I could have hoped for!

I wish we could get t shirts printed with his face on. The one he made when he realised that just what a cock up he'd made over what turned out to be one line and he'd have known if he'd have even read the review.

NiceGerbil · 16/09/2020 18:43

Hehehe that was

Poor Ben desperately needing to froth at the end and not being allowed Grin

Be fair, their was one woman....but naturally the male bodied people talked over her, because who knows better, what makes a woman, but a male bodied person. Hmm

SoManyActivities · 16/09/2020 18:58

Benjamin Button looks (and sounds) like the love child of Harrop and Little Owen Jones.

This, it's bizarrely uncanny, they are like peas in a pod!

Can't believe Benny thinks he did a good job, WTF?!

Rose of Dawn trying not to laugh was brilliant as well.

This is up there with Posie vs Haddock for sure!

Owen, you're next Grin

ShagMeRiggins · 16/09/2020 18:59

This is the bit of the book cited in Nick Cohen’s review of Galbraith’s new book, from The Spectator.

That’s it.

As for GMB, it was interesting.

For those saying why didn’t they have a woman on the label, Susanna Reid was there and kept the conversation factual.

Also, the segment was about cancel culture, not specifically about TRAs, self-identity culture, and specifically not about feminism/women’s rights.

From a production point of view they picked a focus and tried to stick to it. And the focus seemed to be “is this book transphobic?”

The issue of transgender rights has so many layers it’s an onion.

Also—and I might be inferring here—did anyone else see BB perk up a bit when he was told he’s included in Morgan’s upcoming book?

His face was a picture. I guarantee he will already have been trying to find out what was said about him. Grin
SoManyActivities · 16/09/2020 19:03

Even Susanna 'I'm gonna sit on the fence and be kind because I'm a woman so obviously I can't behave like the man next to me' Reid has clearly has enough of this shit.

Star this wins the entire internet Grin

TheCuriousMonkey · 16/09/2020 19:20

On the one hand I wish they had some female guests. On the other hand Rose and George were just so fantastically articulate, Piers kept his ranting just about under control and Susanna was calm and factual. All of them such a contrast to the enraged incoherence of Benjamin Button. Delicious.

NearlyGranny · 16/09/2020 19:24

Can we have a discussion programme on live TV with Benjamin Butterworth, Dr Adrian Harrap and Owen Jones all appearing, please? I have my doubts about whether they are three individuals or two or even just one...

But all white dudes look alike, don't they? Wait, didn't Butterworth self- ID as black? Nope, that's not really helping me distinguish him, either. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Siablue · 16/09/2020 19:30

Benjamin is being incredibly rude to Rose on Twitter. He can’t bring himself to acknowledge that she is trans. He called her a trans supporter. It is just getting more sympathy for her and more ridicule for him. He is one of these people who cares about minorities but only if they agree with him.

I still can’t believe he identified as black for the NUS conference. If he truly believes in cancel culture he should cancel himself like Jessica Krug. I agree that his ears pricked up when Piers said he was in his book. He has probably got it on preorder.

PronounssheRa · 16/09/2020 19:36

Benjis self-ID as a black delegate to the 2012 NUS LGBT conference, therefore stealing a place from someone who is actually black, is getting a lot of coverage on Twitter.

There is also much ridicule.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 16/09/2020 19:38

Perhaps BB could get his face printed on a BLM t shirt.
How was he allowed to get away with such blatant racism of a white man 'identifying' as black?

FloralBunting · 16/09/2020 19:43

Managed to isolate BB's face from that bit at the end.Grin
