borntobequiet · 12/09/2020 08:00

I’ll buy the Sat Times this weekend, just for this.

SerenityNowwwww · 12/09/2020 08:03

Wow - message loud and clear!

MillyMollyFarmer · 12/09/2020 08:04

Janice is amazing. This is a great article, even covering Tatchell ( although where has he ever distanced himself from his words on child abuse? )

PaleBlueMoonlight · 12/09/2020 08:06

That is very good

Thingybob · 12/09/2020 08:07

Brilliantly written

jeaux90 · 12/09/2020 08:07

Blistering. I love Janice

ImaginaryCat · 12/09/2020 08:08

Incredible. Now to watch the Twittersphere and see those people and organisations try to discredit what she says. Supporters of Stonewall seriously can't read that and not have a fucking lightbulb moment!

queenofknives · 12/09/2020 08:09

That is a fantastic article that neatly summarises the issues. Also the clearest comment on that film I have read. The normalisation of child abuse is unacceptable, and for a society that had made significant strides towards protecting children, it is incredibly regressive and almost unbelievable. I really hope that more people start making child protection a priority, for example, librarians should be refusing to host drag queens story time, teachers need to loudly complain about the proud trust resources and so on. Everyone needs to raise their voice on this in whatever way they can.

That wasn't meant to be a lecture, sorry. I know I am preaching to the converted. I just feel so horrified by the way we as a society are colluding with child abusers.

Thankyou for posting this- it is great!

She is a writer worth watching.

Does she usually write for The Times?

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 12/09/2020 08:11

Superb writing as always, thanks Janice — always worth reading. And thanks for the share token, NotBad.

PapsofJura · 12/09/2020 08:15

A very powerful article.

Cocothefirst · 12/09/2020 08:18

I'll buy the Times today.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 12/09/2020 08:18

I agree. It seems to be part of a surge of male supremacism in recent years, crushing women’s and children’s rights. Violent and demanding. Very disturbing.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 12/09/2020 08:19

Excellent as always.

zanahoria · 12/09/2020 08:20

As Alison Bailey pointed out, what sort of age group is 12 to 23? Seems absurdly inappropriate. I was glancing through a local listings freebie last year and noticed two ads, one for a young Gay men's social group another for a queer youth project, the former was 18+ the later 13+.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 12/09/2020 08:29

Yes, causing a moral dilemma for all who don’t wish to support the scummy Murdoch press! What can we do? The Guardian has turned against women, it’s all about identity politics now. The Morning Star is the only leftwing paper I can buy that hasn’t been captured. So most of the rational journalists are published in the rightwing press.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/09/2020 08:35

Excellent article.

Much needed

BovaryX · 12/09/2020 08:39

Great article which pulls no punches and highlights the MAP agenda.

Child sexual abuse is overwhelmingly committed, both online and in real life, by heterosexual men. Thanks to feminist campaigners, sex with an under-age girl, once shrugged off as a giggle, is seen unequivocally as criminal, while the Jimmy Savile scandals underlined the imperative of safeguarding. Yet on the outermost margins of the LGBT movement are voices which try to posit child-sex as the next liberation struggle. In the 1970s the Paedophile Information Exchange tried to latch on to the mainstream gay movement; in 1997 Dares to Speak condemned anti-child-sex views as “hysteria”. Now on Twitter are hundreds of accounts by MAPs — Minority Attracted Persons — who reveal their AOA (Age of Attraction) as, say, 3-14 years and campaign for “MAP pride”: ie to be incorporated into the LGBT rainbow

SoManyActivities · 12/09/2020 08:46

That is such a brilliant article. And how can you refute each point, it's just fact there for everyone to see.
