Ffs I am so sick of this agenda-heavy lobby group and their war against women's rights!

(Note that they are controlling who can reply to them too.)

“We are asking rugby clubs at all levels of the game to stand with us against a ruling that is exclusionary and that will impact some of the most vulnerable people in the community”.

Has anyone seen Maya Forstater's tweet about the statement Stonewall are supporting?

twitter.com/MForstater/status/1297087808285401088

Part of the statement made by International Gay Rugby:

IGR firmly believes that the underlying drive of this proposed ban is not safety, but rather the transphobia-fueled perception that trans women have natural physical advantages due to being assigned a gender marker at birth that is inconsistent with their true identity.

What.The.Fuck.

Flat earthers. Biology deniers. So fucking weird.

Datun · 24/08/2020 21:10

IGR firmly believes that the underlying drive of this proposed ban is not safety, but rather the transphobia-fueled perception that trans women have natural physical advantages due to being assigned a gender marker at birth that is inconsistent with their true identity.

Good lord. That's the whole point of the, entirely unnecessary because everyone knows males are stronger than females, study.

In other news, the sky is blue water is wet.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 24/08/2020 21:18

Wow, just wow.

Or is that the IGR don’t want TW in their game because they are actually transphobic?

Women don’t want TW in their game because they are men = safety, equity, fairness.

No issues of safety, equity or fairness for the IGR.

Nigel Owens the first openly gay referee in world rugby is on the side of sanity!! Thank god - he’s a fantastic ref & I was so afraid he might turn out to be another disappointment

Sexnotgender · 24/08/2020 21:36

He liked this too. I absolutely love NO, so glad he’s on the side of sanity.

Really pleased to see Nigel Owens on the side of sanity.

Interesting, he was Stonewalls Gay Sports Personality of the Decade in 2015.

PronounssheRa · 24/08/2020 21:40

Wonder if Stonewall will denounce him just 5 years after this award, or actually listen to someone who knows a thing or two about rugby

Aesopfable · 24/08/2020 22:29

He’s male. They will probably just ignore.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/08/2020 22:46

I can't help wondering if whoever wrote that tweet for Stonewall actually knows what rugby is, to have used the word impact in it.

Allowing people who've been through male puberty to play in women's rugby has already impacted on more vulnerable players. Literally.

Stonewall are showing clearly they don't give a damn about women's safety, apparently completely bloody unaware of the irony of their words.

RadandMad · 24/08/2020 22:59

@Ereshkigalangcleg

That post was great. It's amplified how ridiculous it is. Think Stonewall have really overreached on this one. Last time I looked it had been retweeted 1.2K times. It's a great way to show them up for what they are. A big misjudgement on their part. 99.9% of people think it's insane.

They, and their woke supporters, have to die on this hill. If they admit MTF trans people have male bodies the whole house of cards comes crashing down.

Yes, you're absolutely right. I've been asking myself why they chose this hill, because it seems so absurd. But the answer is they have no choice.
BatShite · 24/08/2020 23:44

Logically, anyone who supports transwomen competing with women, does not think segregating by sex is necessary. I do wonder why they think we do it, if its not for any specific reason..

BatShite · 24/08/2020 23:46

And also why spend time fighting for these specific males to be in womens sports. When the end goal should surely be all sport desegregated (esp as theres no reason for seprate sports anyway), so no need to fight for a few men, lets fight for all people. Power to the biolgy deniers.

BatShite · 24/08/2020 23:47

Or maybe, they know people would never ever go for desegreated sport as the majority know its unfair. So they try their bloody language tricks and 'dont be mean' nonsense instead. Because its not mean for men to domiate wmens sport, not unfair or unsafe or anything, not at all. Its only nasy to point this out Hmm

BatShite · 24/08/2020 23:52

Oh just LOL to this reply on the coaches tweet..predicatble but LOL anyway

twitter.com/kflan16/status/1297923200534355975

Quite, why don't men stay out of it. We wouldn't have this issue then, if men realised they have no say, nor place in womens sport!

Shout out to the logic of some women are stronger than men, ergo all we know about sex differences is wrong!

PotholeParadise · 25/08/2020 00:24

Aha. I thought so.

I love Nigel Owens and there was just no way Owens would approve this. He is a man of principle and fairness in sport. He's probably finding it a huge wrench to go against the most prominent LGBT charity after all he has done for the rugby LGBT community, but I had faith in him.

He's got gonads of titanium when it comes to things he believes in. I wouldn't be surprised if he takes the time to get his ducks in a row and speaks out officially in his own words, beyond sharing Coach Blade's tweet

PotholeParadise · 25/08/2020 00:35

@Kantastic

The map shows that there are actually UK clubs signing up in support of the pledge to allow TW in women’s rugby. Only 6 so far, but still - I can only hope they don’t really understand what they’ve signed up in support of.

Randomly clicked on 3 of them - 2 of those were "inclusive" gay men's rugby clubs.

I suppose the most charitable explanation for this is that gay men are more likely than heterosexual men not to fully understand the strength differences between men and women - same applies to incels, come to think of it. I don't know if I believe the most charitable explanation.

Map is either gone from public view (at the supporting clubs' own request because they didn't like the feedback?) or they've retracted their support.

I did wonder. It's one thing for the social media person at a specifically gay men's inclusive club to automatically sign the club name up to anything run by Stonewall on a weekend night.

It's quite another thing for the club to stand by that hasty decision when the thing goes viral throughout rugby twitter, and all the players and coaching staff hear what their club has signed up to.

PronounssheRa · 25/08/2020 08:14

It's in the mail, I haven't gone past the headline yet, but they call Stonewall a trans charity, which is predominantly what they are now
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8658783/Stonewall-accused-putting-female-rugby-players-second-feelings-transitioned-athletes.html

Sexnotgender · 25/08/2020 08:34

The mail article is ok except the use of cisgender😏

ThinEndoftheWedge · 25/08/2020 08:43

With all the misappropriated words I now think the word ‘vulnerable’ is at number 1.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/08/2020 08:55

^ The Alliance also quoted Dr Sheree Bekker, a sports injury specialist from the University of Bath, who said: 'Any exclusionary policy in women's sport hurts all women.
'This policy approach enacts a particular structural violence against trans women. Pitting safety against fairness is a false dichotomy.'^

Followed by 'violence' and 'hurts'.
Sure, that's a false dichotomy... because having males play in women's rugby is both unsafe and unfair to women.

Greenandcabbagelooking · 25/08/2020 09:01

As a TA is played football with 15 year old boys. They were polite, kind and careful, but if anything had happened, I would have come off worse. They we’re all taller and mostly looked heavier than me. This is school PE lesson football, and I still didn’t feel 100% safe.

Playing rugby with some person who has undergone male puberty would be a whole new level.

SerenityNowwwww · 25/08/2020 09:02

Yes the difference in watching the younger kids play and the older teens is chalk and cheese isn’t it.

Not just the body strength but also the ‘aggression’ (sorry that’s not the right works but the ‘grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Go get em!’)

CuriousaboutSamphire · 25/08/2020 09:15

@Kit19 the Ross Tucker symposium had a lot of women, ex players etc (I have worked with a couple of them) They are not going to let men into the game without a huge fight, backed by the strongest of scientific research. Most of them are academics at some very good Universities, so they have the kudos as well as being known in the sport.

Having spoken to a few people involved in rugby development I would be very surprised in grass roots rugby gives an inch. Now the RFU has published its up to date guidance coaches won't give either and now, nor will many players. They all know the realities of the physical side of the game. It is very simple - women will get hurt and will then leave the game! Women's rugby will cease to exist!

Sexnotgender · 25/08/2020 09:16

All rugby bodies segregate by sex at age 11/12.

NotBadConsidering · 25/08/2020 09:17

Jaiyah Saelua is a trans woman from American Samoa. Jaiyah plays in the men’s American Samoa football (soccer) team. Jaiyah seems to be happy playing with the team of Jaiyah’s sex, and the team are very accepting of Jaiyah. So why can’t other trans women play in the team/category of their sex and why can’t those teams/categories be accepting of those trans women, like the American Samoa football team?
