I have been recorded by my local police force as 'hateful'

Dear All

I am posting here in case I 'disappear' from Twitter. I set out the background here if you want to read more.

In a nutshell I made a Subject Access Request of Wiltshire police after a Twitter account boasted I now had a 'record for life' of my 'hate'. The police disclosed to me 12 pages of screenshots that were not hateful in the least; they were mainly discussions about the GC debate that have been confirmed as protected political speech.

I have requested this is deleted; the Information Management Team at Wiltshire have declined so I will go through their appeal process, eventually to the PCC and then judicial review.

I am writing to urge ANYONE who publishes on line about gender ID etc in their own name or is otherwise readily identifiable, to make a SAR of you own force to see what is recorded against you; you will not be told.

If there are others in the same position as me it might be sensible to consider joining forces in some kind of class action.

hopefully I will know by the autumn if I am going for JR.

It's really disgraceful and I hope this gets wider public attention. I wish you all the luck and that more people with similar issues come forward so any legal case gets further traction.

A class action is a really good idea. I don't use twitter much, so I doubt I'm much of a threat, but those who do really should check.

This is insane. Hasn't it occurred to them how easy it is for people just to use this as a way of score-settling? We could all of us start reporting the tweets of people we don't like.

I hope they do refuse to delete. This needs to be before a court. What is happening is wrong and cannot be left unchecked.

once this kind of authoritarian over reach gets a foot hold in one area, it will spread to ALL.

We can't be complacent about this.

This is absolutely deliberate and part of the TRA campaign strategy to increase the recorded hate incidents. These are now regularly quoted back (unquestioned) in media communications.

When you set this against the fact misogyny is not a hate crime & victims of DV often feel its not safe for them to report & rape is practically legal.

How the fuck are women supposed to put up with this level of structural inequality? Our tax money contributes to a system that is set against us.

This is getting ridiculous, just a transparent attempt to bump up the hate crime numbers. It needs to be stopped.

I wonder how many of those that threatened death and rape have crimes recorded against them? I'm guessing none, because they hide behind Anime avatars and stupid names.

Robust debate on an issue as fundamental as basic human rights and who stands to gain/lose at the expense of another group can never be deemed 'hate speech', or we're all screwed. As is the case if someone are keeping an official shit list and people are being recorded on it when they haven't been found guilty of committing any crime. That's the behaviour of a despotic regime, not a supposed democratic society.

Your comments are consistently more measured than the mud being hurled from your detractors. Evidently someone sees you as a threat. Hope you fight them all the way to the top, as I think it's vital some bright light is shone on this from a legal perspective.

Jeez that’s dreadful. What a phenomenal waste of police time. You’d think they didn’t have anything better to do.

I was at the Scottish Trans Alliance conference last year and was in a workshop where the representative from STA told the audience that they should report any GC stickering they saw to the police as 'Hate Incidents'. Was at pains to say how this was different to hate crime.

STA receive a lot of money from the Scottish Government.

I find it difficult to understand the way police are acting. No one with half a brain would consider this normal for a liberal democracy. If/when it comes to it I'll support any crowd funding.
