He’s said something more than a little bit TERFY but has yet to be invited to suck lady dicks or die in a fire (as far as I can see).

James O'Brien and Paris Lees have met before:

Any porn led movement to destroy boundaries should be talked about in those terms. Is JOB oblivious to the damage extreme porn is doing to young men, is he not at all interested in considering the fact that a sissy porn influence might not be the best way for young men to enter the adult world?

Why does he not talk about this to his male listeners, I'm sure they could educate him.

PurpleHoodie · 06/07/2020 19:07

If we say anyone who claims to be trans can enter ANYONE CAN ENTER

And the problem is in all of these discussion of how 'trans people are not a threat' the very obviously missing thing is a definition of what a trans person actually is. Andeveryonewho wants access to female spaces thinks it should includethem.

Hence why the female hating prats shout out *Whhhhaat abaaarrrttttt the lesbians in toilets?! They are just as rapey"

"Whattttt abarrrrrrrrt the dykes and blokey women in toilets? Whhhhhaaaa. Be scared of them!"

No dude. They are women.

Obviously no bother.

Might ask them if they know where the directions to such and such place are from this club - or if they could pass a hand towel.

But no. Just no.

Women know. We just do. We live it.

doolallyboo · 06/07/2020 19:17

Isn't it fascinating to compare JOB and JKR as well.

This enrages me. Even if you don't agree with JK (I do) how can anyone not see the blatant hypocrisy?

Manderleyagain · 06/07/2020 19:39

Floisme re jolyan, yes he tweeted something - I think it was to do with all women shortlists in thd Labour party 'we need to talk'? Not certain. But got a big trans activist response on twitter, went the other way. I think that's probably why he blocks so many people who are saying the things which he initially said they should have a right to say. He also gave maya Forstater some advice on her crowd funder before that, and wasn't unsupportive.

PotholeParadise · 06/07/2020 20:03

@Highperbolay

Paris is really upset by this. To be fair, I kind of feel a little bit sorry for Paris, because before the TRA batshittery, a small number of transwomen were using the toilets and women were generally OK with that very small number of 'genuine' transwomen doing this.

But TRAs have pushed and pushed this. Not happy to be accepted in female spaces as a courtesy, they have pushed and pushed the 'TWAW' , the self id, the 'i am whatever I say I am', the 'wax my balls', the 'let my rapist penis into women's prisons', the 'I am a woman because I say so, now let me into the women's changing rooms', the 'if you don't completely capitulate you are a bigoted cunt who can suck my girl dick'.

And women have realised that the 'Choke on my girl dick brigade' are the exact same people who want access to their safe spaces. And are now saying NO!

And so here we are....

Yep. I've noticed transwomen in the toilets before, going back at least 15 years and there are probably more I didn't notice. I always either tried to pretend I hadn't noticed, or made sure to be smiley to signal they were welcome.

I've only developed any concerns about it because of the behaviour you describe. If I saw a transwoman in the toilets tomorrow (assuming they were open), I'd probably still try to be welcoming as usual because I don't want to condemn ordinary transwomen for the behaviour of tweeters.

FantaOra · 06/07/2020 20:21

Ordinary versus tweeters. That's a perplexing analysis. And what does condemn mean in that context? Are you suggesting that sex segregation should be on the basis of hostility shown on social media?

PotholeParadise · 06/07/2020 20:37

I'm suggesting that when the public face of a group, be it Trans* Acceptance, the Hartlepool Clematis Growers Association, the Westboro Baptist Church or Millwall FC, is extremely violent and aggressive posts on social media, the natural reaction is to fear more for your physical safety when you see a member of that group than you did when the public face was the local vicar.

In similar vein, you will also find that humans who have seen a vicious dog attack are more cautious around dogs than they were formerly.

Ordinary means people who aren't internet trolls.

"I don't want to condemn" means I don't want to develop a prejudice against trans* people in general.

I don't honestly believe you found any of that perplexing.

FantaOra · 06/07/2020 20:41

I am not afraid of clematis growers or many other people to be honest. I do still expect sex segregation to not be described perjoritively as prejudice in any circumstances no matter how strongly they feel about flowers.

No comment about people wearing Millwall shirts, then?

I don't think any clematis growing association has made a name for themselves with aggressive posturing on social media, but if it did, people would be more likely to keep 2m away from people wearing that association's t-shirts.

littlbrowndog · 06/07/2020 20:57

JKR. V O.brien

No competition.

Simple as that

FantaOra · 06/07/2020 20:58

Here's OJ with his input to the Genital Inspections mantra. He is so willing to sell this line I am begging to suspect Linda Grant is about to give him a plastic award for his bookshelf in appreciation of his services to expanding her hetero readership.

Highperbolay · 06/07/2020 20:59

James has caused quite the stir on Twitter by saying 'I don't think there should be penises in women's spaces'. Owen, Ash, Paris, Munroe....

They are all thinking 'fuck, if we are losing the likes of James O' Brien then we are screwed'. The panic is palpable.

Meanwhile James is cowardly trying to backpedal by retweeting Paris Lees's hurt tweets on this, but without any further clarification from himself. He is always the big man on the radio isn't he, always very confident to 'stand up to bigots' and make them look stupid. But now he is finding himself veering towards 'the wrong side of history' and he doesn't know what to do.

Don't worry James, we've all been there. Maybe you could ask Jo for some advice Smile

littlbrowndog · 06/07/2020 21:01

O,brien was a misogynist wee prick to posie.

He sees which way this is going so swivelling like an office chair

FantaOra · 06/07/2020 21:05

Swivel-chairs, the lot of them. Love it. ❤️

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/07/2020 21:12

I don't feel remotely sorry for Paris. If Paris passes so well as to never be challenged and didn't get naked in a communal space, who would know to exclude Paris? Red herring emotional blackmail.

Deliriumoftheendless · 06/07/2020 21:23

Paris will be turned on by the other TRAs for having “passing privilege” because that’s what this movement thrives on.

FantaOra · 06/07/2020 21:37

Oh obvs. After the revolution, maybe, ladies.

Siablue · 06/07/2020 21:52

Why do these discussions always get bogged down in toilets.

Most people would not mind to go to the same toilets as Paris Lees most people would mind being in the same hospital ward as Karen White.

Mr O’Brian is not as good at being right as he thinks he is.

ShinyFootball · 06/07/2020 21:53

Kantastic · 06/07/2020 22:01

I'd mind, hugely. But to be fair that is because I know who Paris is and they are very misogynistic and verbally aggressive and have a past history of physical violence. I would 100% duck out of the toilets if I saw Paris Lees in there.

Though you're asking the right question. The reasons the discussions get "bogged down" (heh) is that the TRAs consistently make it about toilets because when people start thinking about mixed-sex changing rooms or hospital wards a lot of them start actually thinking.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 06/07/2020 22:03

Same here. But another similar MTF trans person who passed, who would know?

PotholeParadise · 06/07/2020 22:12

What is the Wahaca Soho solution? I've googled and that hasn't been very helpful. I've learned that it's a chic restaurant and TripAdvisor says the hand-dryers were out of order.

Regardless of expense, safe toilet provision is necessary. It is a public good and Labour is supposed to be about investing public money in those, I thought.

I get regular emails from one charity about how lack of safe toilet facilities for girls leads to girls missing education in developing countries.
