Didn’t see this on the current post about her fundraising but thought it deserved a post of its own.

The Stonewall letter was essentially “nice business, be a shame if anything happened to it...”

Allison’s response was forensic and brilliant.

Did a bit extra digging this morning.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 06/03/2021 11:37

Thank you for linking - she’s an extraordinary woman (not least for including the line “That would be transubstantiation which is not within the gift of legislation” Grin)

StandUpStraight · 06/03/2021 11:41

What on earth were Garden Court chambers thinking? The letter is nothing more than a series of baseless allegations, rounded off by a threat, all of it written in the most illiterate prose. It’s absolutely outrageous that Allison has been treated in this way, and it is time to dig again, but thank God this is coming to light so that everyone can see Stonewall for what it has become.

NotBadConsidering · 06/03/2021 11:44

Stonewall write (their bold):

Targeting a woman who works for us (our trans empowerment manager) and calling her a man “Morgan Page, a male”’

mobile.twitter.com/BluskyeAllison/status/1175739790181974017

This is that actual tweet:

Stonewall recently hired Morgan Page, a male bodied person who ran workshops with the sole aim of coaching heterosexual men who identify as lesbians on how they can coerce young lesbians into having sex with them. Page called “overcoming the cotton ceiling” and it is popular.

The sheer brass neck of them. The utter bastards. Do they think people wouldn’t click on the link? Do they think their assertion that Allison called someone who works for Stonewall a man wouldn’t be able to be seen for what it is, a complete falsehood?

I’m going to donate again just for that, the fuckers.

I would also offer to donate for every error of grammar and punctuation but I’m not rich enough.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 06/03/2021 11:48

I would also offer to donate for every error of grammar and punctuation but I’m not rich enough. Grin maybe suggest this tactic to JKR?

PurpleHoodie · 06/03/2021 11:52

Flowers for Allison.

StandUpStraight · 06/03/2021 11:52

notbad Grin

The only thing that letter is missing is that it wasn’t composed with the aid of scissors, a glue stick and a bunch of random letters cut out of magazines.

WeRoarSometimes · 06/03/2021 11:55

The email from Stonewall was so poorly drafted, it is threatening and coercive.
Alison's response was coherent, clear and incredibly-well referenced.
She is a successful barrister after all.

I thought the exact same. Why anyone with half a brain cell would pay any attention to that toe-curlingly amateur letter is beyond me. I can’t get my head round it.
Xpectations · 06/03/2021 12:00

Can anyone summarise the email? My Twitter account is suspended pending appeal.

titchy · 06/03/2021 12:03

I wondered why the head of trans inclusion uses both 'he' and 'they' pronouns? Are they an only on Tuesdays and Thursdays person?

Manderleyagain · 06/03/2021 12:03

Stonewall didn't like what she was saying, so they asked to see her manager.

Their letter basically pretends that Allison was campaigning to change the law (eg remove trans rights), when in fact she wanted to keep the law the same, and it was Stonewall who were campaigning to change the law (making it impossible in practice for women to exercise some of their rights). I know that has been the line, the Stonewall narrative, on social media and to the public in the run up to self id consultation, but do they actually believe their own lies? They must do on some level to put them in writing to a bunch of lawyers.

Two of the complaints were upheld by the chambers!

The cotton ceiling will get in the news.

Stonewall: Waah waah waah she called me a poo-poo head. Basically.

You don’t need Twitter, it’s on Allison’s website:

Thanks all!

Mollyollydolly · 06/03/2021 12:14

I don't know how Allison keeps going. I feel such rage reading all this. This case really gets to me because it's just bullying. They can call it what they like but it's just old fashioned bullying. Hope Michael sodding Cashman reads it. Keep going Allison, get your day in court and shine a light on them all.

AbsintheFriends · 06/03/2021 12:25

I hope with all my heart that this is the jenga block that will bring the Stonewall edifice of lies and bullying tumbling down. I've donated again and will keep doing so as long as Allison needs the money. I can supply a bit of that, but don't have the tiniest fraction of her courage and resilience.

I love that she's mentioned Magdalen Berns in her case, and said how she was inspired by her. It seems very right that Magdalen's legacy is being used to such massively positive and powerful effect.

AbsintheFriends · 06/03/2021 12:26

Hope Michael sodding Cashman reads it

Even thinking of Cashman makes me want to go back immediately and donate again Angry

sagaLoren · 06/03/2021 12:35

I trust that you will do what is right

Wow it is all rather mafioso isn't it. Sounds a bit like "I'm gonna make you an offer you can't refuse".

I agree.

Stonewall's tactics are embarrassingly transparent. It would be almost laughable until you realise they've been accepted by an actual chamber of barristers. People one would except to be deserving of at least a modicum of respect, and certainly the assumption that they're educated in the bloody law.

And Allison, if you are reading this, the cotton ceiling was coined as a phrase meant to refer to the gusset in a woman's knickers, specifically a lesbian.

A play on the glass ceiling, and something to be 'broken through'.

And yes, how does that sit with the head of stonewall saying 'women are always going to be raped'?

Spiegelx · 06/03/2021 12:36

The grammar is absolutely appalling in SW's letter. Year 2 curriculum covers correct use of apostrophes. They clearly aren't spending their massive amounts of cash on literacy.

NoCureForLove · 06/03/2021 12:59

I had to donate again after reading those documents. Angry

Me too.

Go get 'em, Allison.

This!! They’re actual lawyers - it’s a very successful chambers so they’re clearly generally know what they’re doing

How did they allow themselves to be frightened by such utter tosh??
