I think it’s great she’s unfollowed him, if true (I don’t know how these sorts of Twitter shenanigans are checked).

It was the fact he was responding to the “Terf” slur without even acknowledging or condemning it is what I suspect did it.

RoyalCorgi · 29/06/2020 09:31

He has made the whole thing infinitely worse. The baying mob are all positively gleeful about it. It's a real "stick the boot in' bullying now, ha ha "she trusted and thanked him then he turned on her, hurrah" stuff.

Yes, it would have been much better if he'd said nothing at all. Now the woman-haters are taking it as an opportunity to pour even more hate on a woman. These people really are the absolute scum of the earth.

NotBadConsidering · 29/06/2020 09:40

And what has he gained by that? It currently has 19,000 likes. That seems like a lot. But if he’d backed up Rowling and lost those potential 19,000 random Twitter users/bots from book sales would he really have noticed?

Many of them can’t read anyway, it’s not like they were holding up his finances Hmm.

janeyloves · 29/06/2020 09:51

Brilliant!

Winesalot · 29/06/2020 09:54

These twitter interactions obviously give more column spaces.

@Newwayofthinking

I ha e started following people who are in support of JKR. Not many celebs yet, any more worthy of a follow?
I suspect Michael Rosen is GC. I follow him and noticed he follows Maya Forstater and Transgender Trend and retweeted attached pic.

He's recovering from a traumatic covid infection and quite honestly I'm just happy he's on the road to recovery but I get the feeling he's aware and listening.

Jesus, that Independent article... Why are they still framing it as JK Rowling's stance on transgender RIGHTS?? How infuriating Angry

SerenityNowwwww · 29/06/2020 10:13

It’s the independent! They are rubbish.

Smallsteps88 · 29/06/2020 10:13

I don’t get why someone like SK would bother placating the baying mob with TWAW if it’s not something he believes. He has no need to placate anyone. It makes no sense. Maybe he was drunk.

It must stick in people’s throats to call it what it is... being pro-women.
Thisismytimetoshine · 29/06/2020 10:14

Maybe he was drunk.
Nah, he's done it before, the manky wet lettuce.

Smallsteps88 · 29/06/2020 10:15

Shame. Maybe he’s just a shit stirrer.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/06/2020 10:22

Most of his other tweets are political. Hates Trump and the other side are all big on trans rights.

IsadoraQuagmire · 29/06/2020 10:25

What a cowardly, pathetic loser he turned out to beAngry

SunsetBeetch · 29/06/2020 10:26

I wish we could get away from What Happens on Twitter as 'news'. The majority of people don't have a twitter account and couldn't care less what happens in there.

So, seems like a case of he supported a tweet without knowing the full background? What a fecking numpty

magicstar1 · 29/06/2020 10:27

@Newwayofthinking you should follow James Dreyfus. He’s great, and totally not afraid to say what he thinks e.g.

Why, exactly?
Newwayofthinking · 29/06/2020 10:36

@magicstar1 thank you , he has been added

AbsintheFriends · 29/06/2020 10:37

I think King's POV is simply that of an even-more-than-averagely privileged white male. He is distributing his benevolence like sweeties to urchins. 'Sure, I'll show how kind and empathetic I am about women who are victims of male violence - I want to distance myself from that kind of asshole man' - retweets JK's Dworkin quote. Then parrots the TWAW mantra as a pat on the head to the angry animes. No skin in the game. Only his own image of himself as a good guy to polish, and the feeling of power from watching the twitter reaction.

All misogyny is deplorable, but I have a particular loathing of the kind that masquerades as progressiveness, while climbing higher and higher up the power structure.

maudspellbody · 29/06/2020 10:38

This is the problem. You just don't know what individual pressure someone is under.

Like Jonathan Ross and his woke daughters. You don't know whether he has close friends he doesn't want to fall out with or family who would cut him off. However rich and powerful and immune to twitter trolls you may be, there are personal relationships involved too - and they are important to everyone.

He should have stayed quiet if he wasn't sure where his bread was buttered, though. It has been so utterly disappointing.

I just wish it was a conversation that could be had without the extreme reactions.

I haven't said anything much in the real life apart to people who I know would hear me out. I'm a coward too, I guess.

I love his books

Loving him seems a bit stalkerish

RufustheRowlingReindeer · 29/06/2020 10:44

Although rory you obviously like your men to flip flop around

I like the tweet

Oh no

I don’t like the tweet

I quite like a decisive man...whether they believe TWAW or not

NotBadConsidering · 29/06/2020 10:50

Maybe he was drunk.

He’s an alcoholic and a precious cocaine addict who’s been on the wagon - as far as we know - for a very long time. He wrote It for example, mostly high, but has been sober for years.

I don’t think King drunk tweets.

Smallsteps88 · 29/06/2020 10:51

Ah, didn’t realise!
