Twitter has suspended me

999 replies

Glinner · 27/06/2020 03:16

I'm really sorry to barge in on you Mumsnettters with my problems, but
I've been finally suspended from Twitter and I have a feeling they're either going to ban me or just take my verified tick. I've submitted an appeal with Twitter and the Better Business Bureau but I thought I'd post here too so people knew what was going on.

Recently, I keep being locked out of my account and forced to delete tweets to get back in. The latest tactic by trans rights activists is to run a search for any time I've used the word 'groomer', a phrase Twitter recently decided was Not Allowed.

This was not a violation of Twitter's ToS at the time I used the phrase, and I have been careful to avoid it since. I still use the word 'grooming' in various permutations because I believe that gender ideology is a form of societal grooming. It is a very real threat to the wellbeing of women and children and if our ability to name a threat is removed, it is even more difficult to fight that threat.

You may remember that Twitter similarly removed Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy. She lost her account when she said "that's him" about 'Jessica' Yaniv. Bear in mind that Yaniv was still going under 'Jonathan' at the time, and just as in my case, her crime against Twitter's Terms of Service was not actually an offence at the time she committed it. She probably never thought she could be banned from the public square for uttering the words "that's him". But that's Twitter.

Twitter has a high percentage of trans-identified employees and for some time has been silencing feminists and their allies who run afoul of its absurd 'misgendering' policies. The one good thing about my situation is that I'm in great company--Claire Graham, Meghan Murphy, Skylar Gwynn, Miranda Yardley, GNC Centric and many more, important feminist and critical voices who have been silenced for fighting a dangerous ideology that tells children it's possible to be born into the wrong body.

Anyway, that's what's happening. Please let people know it's entirely down to malicious reporting from the usual suspects and please keep watching my YouTube Channel and visiting my depressing blog. I'll also be available on Glindr if people from Twitter want to re-establish contact there. Hope it's ok to post these links to those destinations

Thanks for all the support, and thanks for letting me fight alongside you.

Says everything we need to know about Graham Lineham and those like him. He and his 'fans' will pretend it doesn't mean anything, but it does. Twitter was incredibly important to him as it was Katie Hopkins.

Dhalmeup · 27/06/2020 11:14

@SuperJan

If you were shown one, it would be 'show me another'. If you were shown a dozen, it would be 'show me more'. If you were shown a hundred, it would be 'that's not enough proof'.

Sadly we will never be able to test your guess at what might happen.

Because we have never been given one screenshot, let alone tens. Not a single one.

gardenbird48 · 27/06/2020 11:15

And while I’m here - having looked at some of the accounts in twitter that are currently celebrating- he’s got a point. If anyone with any safeguarding knowledge was to look at how they are encouraging children to have secret communications and setting the parents up as the enemy (“even children don’t feel safe coming out to loving, supportive families” therefore we encourage them to have private chats with strangers about trans stuff) they’d have alarm bells going off all over the place!! Unbelievable!!

SuperJan · 27/06/2020 11:16

"Platform manipulation" = the man who pretended to be his own assistant was largely talking to his own sockpuppets.

SusieOwl4 · 27/06/2020 11:17

@Steamfan

I reported a very racist remark on Facebook the other day . Very offensive and unapologetic racism . And the answer was they would let the comment stand ?

I was shocked to be honest .

BaronessWrongCrowd · 27/06/2020 11:20

I've even on here a while. This is my latest name change. Every time I've seen someone come on here shouting transphobia I've asked for proof. Nothing had been forthcoming, not one single bit of evidence to back up the claims. Lots of attempts at deflecting but nothing providing concrete evidence. That says a lot to me.

12boo · 27/06/2020 11:20

@Dhalmeup

Yeah, Twitter happily lets pedophiles romp all over their platform under the guise of MAPs. And TRAs threatening you choke people on ‘girl dick’, rape and murder dissenters are left alone.

Funnily enough, I don’t think they are the voice to listen to on what is hateful conduct.

Yep
justanotherneighinparadise · 27/06/2020 11:20

It makes no difference that Twitter has censored another gender critical person. All they’ve achieved by doing that is a steely determination to have their voice heard elsewhere and another shed load of supporters for the fight to safe guard our children.

Censorship does not work. Cancelling people does not work. Debate and conversation works. Silencing people promotes hatred and division.

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 27/06/2020 11:21

Also adding my support to Glinner, who made my night by liking one of my very infrequent posts on Twatter yesterday. Always late to ths party, me. I also had TransgenderTrend post one of their excellent guides to the new RSE material to my dc's high school yesterday, so take the pluses where you find them (I would add a link but I'm crap at techy stuff on my phone).

littlbrowndog · 27/06/2020 11:21

Cmon SuperJan.

Show us just one

MrsWooster · 27/06/2020 11:22

A couple of pages ago ygrittesnow pointed out that we will NEVER accept tw as women into our female world. As the Bipsycle s excellent psychoanalytical thread showed, this is why the level of anger: they know they can’t achieve what they long for and secretly know isn’t true. The cognitive dissonance and frustration must make them simply writhe with rage. That’s why we simply need to grey rock and withstand because they can never win and they will never accept that. Like toddler rage, it’s simply got to be a calm “I know you’re upset and, no, you still can’t”

If JKROWLING in an essay that states "I know and love trans people" can be accused of transphobia and then receive death threats I think we have a clear idea about these false accusations of bigotry
littlbrowndog · 27/06/2020 11:23

The stuff that was posted on Twitter to Joanna Rowling was the worst thing I ever saw

So much hate towards a woman

Full support Graham. Thank you.
No-one with any decency, intelligence or integrity believes anything on Twitter anymore. It is a cess-pit.

everybodysang · 27/06/2020 11:25

My quote function isn't working for some reason so I've had to copy and paste - apologies if the formatting looks a bit odd.

I'm not a new member. I've been here for yeaaaars and years. But I don't come here much any more as the transphobia is desperate.

Anyway, this has made me happier than anything I have seen on here for years so I am glad I popped back in. Never has something been so deserved. Maybe find a new hobby?
Maybe you might like to think about why you are so pleased that an extremely vocal advocate for Women's rights has been silenced.

I've thought about it. And I'm really pleased that someone so aggressively transphobic has been removed from Twitter. Am not quite sure what wasn't clear in my original post?

Anyway, I'm pleased to have the chance to stand up and say with others that I don't agree with the general anti-trans sentiment on here and it's put me off using a resource I used to enjoy and find really useful (and saw me through some very, very difficult times as a parent).

I know lots of you disagree. That's ok. I genuinely feel I'm on the right side and I don't need to have my mind changed. I'll get on with my day feeling better that the trans people I know feel they have been listened to. I'm ok with that. I know lots of you won't be. That's not my problem.

SuperJan · 27/06/2020 11:25

@Dahlmeup

As with Facebook, Twitter is deliberately bad at searching the past because they are all about the NOW. (Third-partyTwitter clients cannot look back further than a week, for example.)

So if you're serious, it will take a while to search for people who have Tweeted screenshots and, because of the harassment, probably not used the word 'glinner'.

I can do it, but my time is not free. Shall I give you a link for a payment?

wellbehavedwomen · 27/06/2020 11:26

You've been so brave, Glinner. So many women are terrified to speak out. When I did, on my own social media, I was surprised to get loads of messages saying how much people agreed, but how they were too scared to say so. For careers, for social lives. That's where we are, and why this has got as far as it has. Your courage has been remarkable, and you are one of the reasons people are slowly waking up to what is happening. Sincerely, thank you. Thank you for standing with us and for us, at this sort of personal cost. There was no cost to you in women losing our definition, our representation, and our spaces. Yet you have stood by us anyway, without hesitation. And I hope you know how truly we appreciate you doing so.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/06/2020 11:27

@everybodysang I completely respect your opinion and your right to hold it ✋

ShirleyPhallus · 27/06/2020 11:27

Fucking hell this thread is like Swiss cheese. Do they really think we are all so stupid as to believe that these are genuine accounts and not new users with too much time on their hands to troll MN?!

Bloody irritating that they’ve screenshotted one of the trolls and added it to twitter as reasons why @Glinner’s post hasn’t gone down well here

Getting some bonus points for my user name though which is weird

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 27/06/2020 11:30

Just posting to add my support for Glinner. I hope you know how much your work is appreciated Flowers

Justhadathought · 27/06/2020 11:31

Twiiter is such a negative force....and it deludes to people into thinking that what passes on it is meaningful. The truth is the vast majority of people have no awareness of what passes for political activity on this medium. We need to get politics back into the mainstream; back into the mainstream media and press - and bring the TRA agenda into the full light of day.

LillianBland · 27/06/2020 11:31
UPDATE: Twitter has confirmed that Graham Linehan's Glinner account is permanently suspended. 'The account has been permanently suspended after repeated violations of our rules against hateful conduct and platform manipulation.' t.co/Yt9TcAw7lj
It will prove to be an own goal for twitter. The gloating and goading from the MRA/TRA cults, will spread throughout twitter and those not normally aware of their combined attack on women’s rights to safety, privacy and dignity, will become curious. When they research further, they will see the violent memes, threats of doxing, rape, murder, etc towards females. They will see the lies told about suicide/violence statistics and they will eventually make their way over to Mumsnet.

Yes, they may be taken in by the accusations of ‘transphobia’ on Mumsnet, as I was at the beginning, but then they will stay. The time will come when they look at what’s happening to women’s rights and slowly but surely, they will realise that they were being gaslit, manipulated by and lied to by the ones currently gloating about Graham being banned. The anger and hatred being thrown at you on here shows how threatened they still feel, by the sunlight. So banning you is actually going to have the opposite effect to the one they hope for.

iklboo · 27/06/2020 11:31

Suspend you but not Harrop and his vile ravings? I'm deleting my Twitter account. So fucking woke it's got insomnia.

Dhalmeup · 27/06/2020 11:32

@Superjan

You come back here with screenshots proving Graham’s transphobia and I will pay you £1000.

Looking forward to it.
