Twitter has suspended me

999 replies

Glinner · 27/06/2020 03:16

I'm really sorry to barge in on you Mumsnettters with my problems, but
I've been finally suspended from Twitter and I have a feeling they're either going to ban me or just take my verified tick. I've submitted an appeal with Twitter and the Better Business Bureau but I thought I'd post here too so people knew what was going on.

Recently, I keep being locked out of my account and forced to delete tweets to get back in. The latest tactic by trans rights activists is to run a search for any time I've used the word 'groomer', a phrase Twitter recently decided was Not Allowed.

This was not a violation of Twitter's ToS at the time I used the phrase, and I have been careful to avoid it since. I still use the word 'grooming' in various permutations because I believe that gender ideology is a form of societal grooming. It is a very real threat to the wellbeing of women and children and if our ability to name a threat is removed, it is even more difficult to fight that threat.

You may remember that Twitter similarly removed Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy. She lost her account when she said "that's him" about 'Jessica' Yaniv. Bear in mind that Yaniv was still going under 'Jonathan' at the time, and just as in my case, her crime against Twitter's Terms of Service was not actually an offence at the time she committed it. She probably never thought she could be banned from the public square for uttering the words "that's him". But that's Twitter.

Twitter has a high percentage of trans-identified employees and for some time has been silencing feminists and their allies who run afoul of its absurd 'misgendering' policies. The one good thing about my situation is that I'm in great company--Claire Graham, Meghan Murphy, Skylar Gwynn, Miranda Yardley, GNC Centric and many more, important feminist and critical voices who have been silenced for fighting a dangerous ideology that tells children it's possible to be born into the wrong body.

Anyway, that's what's happening. Please let people know it's entirely down to malicious reporting from the usual suspects and please keep watching my YouTube Channel and visiting my depressing blog. I'll also be available on Glindr if people from Twitter want to re-establish contact there. Hope it's ok to post these links to those destinations

Thanks for all the support, and thanks for letting me fight alongside you.

@gemashlou

I think this has been a long time coming and is thoroughly deserved. Linehan has kept up an obsessive campaign of hate against trans people for a long time, it can't be any good for him, and it certainly isn't good for trans people.

I really hope that it can be acknowledged that not everyone on mumsnet agrees with Linehan, I've found MN really helpful when it comes to TTC, this sort of nastiness is what gives MN a bad name.

Completely agree :) and yep, share your faith.
LillianBland · 27/06/2020 11:00

Blimey. I missed all the foaming at the mouth, angry men posts. It must have been a fun night.

Sorry to hear about your ban, Glinner, but to be honest, they probably did you a favour. Twitter is a MRA/TRA cesspit, full of incels and perverts. I really don’t understand why normal people go near it. You only have to look at how the bile filled little men and their surrendered wifelets have followed you over to Mumsnet because they’re so furious that they can’t genuinely silence you.

They weren’t able to have you banned from Twitter, before too many people woke up and realised the risks the MRA/TRAs posed to females. You had a hand in helping people realise what they were planning and they will forever hate you for that. Their anger is a response to the knowledge that the world is waking up to their misogyny, aggression and bullying, then they become even more furious. It’s actually quite satisfying to watch.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 27/06/2020 11:00

I tend to assume that the reluctance to provide evidence of actual transphobia stems from a glimmering of self awareness.....I mean we all know that men aren't women, right?

hearing yourself actually saying such nonsense must be a bit conflicting

but I'm a good person

but sex is a thing and men aren't women

Reuniono · 27/06/2020 11:00

@AllCatsAreBeautiful

I’m glad to see that Glinner has finally been banned from twitter. Calling people you disagree with “groomer” should be against everyone’s values. Calling LGBTQ people “groomers” is a version of the slur that gay men are paedophiles. It’s disgusting and as I say, I’m glad to see that twitter has finally taken action.

One of glinner’s main “feminist actions” on twitter was shouting at women and women’s groups who disagree with him. I don’t think a man should get to shout at women about feminism. It was gross how he called the Irish Abortion Rights campaign “traitors”. The way he has been treating Josie Long should have been enough to ban him even without all the rest.

This, This, and This.
AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 27/06/2020 11:01

Although this silencing of people defending women’s boundaries is terrifying, I’ve had to flip it and think that it’s actually heartening that so many young women don’t see how vulnerable females are and have not experienced the physical strength, over-powering and danger biological males can have over us.
I have to leave it there though because if I start thinking deeper, about how these women refuse to listen to the most vulnerable women (in prisons and rape crisis centres etc) I just don’t get any sleep.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/06/2020 11:01

@BertBox

Thank you Glinner. It feels like there’s no accountable adults anywhere at the moment.
Well there isn’t is there? Go back just 50 years and 16 year olds were going off to fight for our freedom. Nowadays you have a generation of manbabies who won’t support their own kids or get off their X Boxes. It’s embarrassing.

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

I'm going to choose to read something significant into the fact that MNHQ often (usually?) simply delete threads that quickly descend into outright trolling, yet this thread they took the time to clean up and reactivate.

The hate is from a charity set up up to support gay & lesbian ppl colluding in discussions to get a black lesbian barrister removed from daring to disagree with TWAW

That’s where the mingles parroting of TWAW ends up

Thanks to glinner far more ppl are aware of that now

If you can’t define “woman” then there are no such things as women’s rights

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/06/2020 11:03

Interesting take Hmm I find it concerning that you believe that LGB &TQ etc people who are deliberately or inadvertently showing grooming behaviour by ignoring well established safeguarding principles shouldn't be called out.

Kit19 · 27/06/2020 11:04

Mindless not mingles ffs

Dhalmeup · 27/06/2020 11:04

@Reuniono

I'll take the 'fact' of 89 at face value, however, the issue here is as follows:
No matter what evidence is presented #Transphobia will only be defined by the values that anti-trans people attribute to it. This in itself is good reason not to be dragged down that rabbit hole.
Transphobia on platforms like Mumsnet and twitter is well document, and easily referenced. Those who wish to understand will search, and those who don't won't.

Do you think that is an original slant too? Bless.

So we are back to the good old ‘I could show you but you won’t think it’s transphobia anyway, because you are transphobic. So I won’t bother, so there.’

That was an awfully long paragraph in order to say ‘no, I couldn’t find a single thing that was actually transphobic’.

If you truly believe that everyone in here is so ragingly phobic that they couldn’t spot transphobia even if you were to post it...why are you here bothering to talk about it at all.

Show us these screenshots you think we won’t spot the phobia in. Let us debate them, like adults.

What are you afraid of?

Resisterance · 27/06/2020 11:05

Bloody hell... this is ridiculous and upsetting Flowers to you Glinner.

It seems that you can write Grooming so that the pervs and paedos can still operate but not Groomer.

I've been thinking about alternatives to still be able to share what's going on...

Could use- Priming, conditioning, coaching, bullying, prepping, indoctrinating, moulding, inculcating..

Other suggestions?

Rembrandt · 27/06/2020 11:06

Another thank you from me too @Glinner for all you've done. Star

One of my big concerns about all of this has been the high percentage of young people with autism who have been seeking transition. I am thankful that my own two teenagers with autism view the idea of transition as "illogical" but there are so many others out there who are far more vulnerable.

BaronessWrongCrowd · 27/06/2020 11:06

What are you afraid of?

Sunlight, @Dhalmeup, they're afraid of sunlight.

Reuniono · 27/06/2020 11:07

UPDATE: Twitter has confirmed that Graham Linehan's Glinner account is permanently suspended. 'The account has been permanently suspended after repeated violations of our rules against hateful conduct and platform manipulation.' t.co/Yt9TcAw7lj

hoochymamgu · 27/06/2020 11:07

@Glinner, on behalf of me and the women dear to me, thank you. Just keep going Thanks

Dhalmeup · 27/06/2020 11:08

Calling LGBTQ people “groomers” is a version of the slur that gay men are paedophiles.

Even if those people are exhibiting grooming behaviour?

So because they/organisation happen to be behind a shield of LGB-TQ that no one can ever mention grooming behaviour.

Do you believe that no gay man can ever be a pedophile? Because that isn’t how safeguarding works.

Rembrandt · 27/06/2020 11:09

I think that says far more about Twitter than it does about Graham.

Keep up the good work, Graham. Flowers

VickyEadieofThigh · 27/06/2020 11:10

Saying no, having boundaries and not accepting the erasure of women isn't 'hate'. The attacks on JKR, the abuse of vulnerable women in prison, the physical assaults, the death and rape threats - there's your 'hate'.

CORRECT.

gardenbird48 · 27/06/2020 11:10

I’m a newish user but I fully support Graham in his efforts to amplify the voices of women in this crazy situation - I am extremely concerned about where this will all end up - the grown ups in government need to stay in charge. I have also asked a few questions on here which I think people have found helpful to the debate so would be grateful not to be prevented from posting but if it helps the moderators to manage the abuse from the trans activists (I assume I’ve understood the proposals correctly?) I will respect that decision and just watch the debate for now.

Thank you glinner. We need more men advocating against the erosion of women's rights.

SuperJan · 27/06/2020 11:11

Dhalmeup - as you know, it's impossible to see his tweets now, even in other people's quotes.

So all you need to do is give them a time machine first!

But this is a case of "there are none so blind as those who will not see", isn't it?

If you were shown one, it would be 'show me another'. If you were shown a dozen, it would be 'show me more'. If you were shown a hundred, it would be 'that's not enough proof'.

Yeah, Twitter happily lets pedophiles romp all over their platform under the guise of MAPs. And TRAs threatening you choke people on ‘girl dick’, rape and murder dissenters are left alone.

Funnily enough, I don’t think they are the voice to listen to on what is hateful conduct.
