Twitter has suspended me

Glinner · 27/06/2020 03:16

I'm really sorry to barge in on you Mumsnettters with my problems, but
I've been finally suspended from Twitter and I have a feeling they're either going to ban me or just take my verified tick. I've submitted an appeal with Twitter and the Better Business Bureau but I thought I'd post here too so people knew what was going on.

Recently, I keep being locked out of my account and forced to delete tweets to get back in. The latest tactic by trans rights activists is to run a search for any time I've used the word 'groomer', a phrase Twitter recently decided was Not Allowed.

This was not a violation of Twitter's ToS at the time I used the phrase, and I have been careful to avoid it since. I still use the word 'grooming' in various permutations because I believe that gender ideology is a form of societal grooming. It is a very real threat to the wellbeing of women and children and if our ability to name a threat is removed, it is even more difficult to fight that threat.

You may remember that Twitter similarly removed Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy. She lost her account when she said "that's him" about 'Jessica' Yaniv. Bear in mind that Yaniv was still going under 'Jonathan' at the time, and just as in my case, her crime against Twitter's Terms of Service was not actually an offence at the time she committed it. She probably never thought she could be banned from the public square for uttering the words "that's him". But that's Twitter.

Twitter has a high percentage of trans-identified employees and for some time has been silencing feminists and their allies who run afoul of its absurd 'misgendering' policies. The one good thing about my situation is that I'm in great company--Claire Graham, Meghan Murphy, Skylar Gwynn, Miranda Yardley, GNC Centric and many more, important feminist and critical voices who have been silenced for fighting a dangerous ideology that tells children it's possible to be born into the wrong body.

Anyway, that's what's happening. Please let people know it's entirely down to malicious reporting from the usual suspects and please keep watching my YouTube Channel and visiting my depressing blog. I'll also be available on Glindr if people from Twitter want to re-establish contact there. Hope it's ok to post these links to those destinations

Thanks for all the support, and thanks for letting me fight alongside you.

Twitter is becoming irrelevant as they silence free speech
Don’t give up!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/06/2020 10:31

So, to be clear, Twitter HQ is OK with pedophiles using their platform as long as they call themselves "MAPs", but pointing out grooming is a no no

I think it is more that Twitter is fine with "MAPS" but they will ban anyone who questions transgenderism, especially if they are influential.

I'm very surprised they haven't banned JKR yet...

Tianalia · 27/06/2020 10:33

Here you go trolls of twitter. Screenshot this and take it back with you. 😉

In the spirit of 'not having to prove what I say' that has become the modus operandi of T*s and Gender Critters, I'm not here to do your work for you.

You seem a bit confused @Reuniono. I don't think I've ever seen someone on the gender critical side of the debate refuse to provide evidence. It's the TRAs who do that.

@Dhalmeup

Ahhh what a shame *@Reuniono*, I thought you, the 90th poster I have seen with these claims, may be the one to finally provide a screenshot.

Alas, the search continues.

Perhaps you did, perhaps you didn't, we'll never know.
In the spirit of 'not having to prove what I say' that has become the modus operandi of Terfs and Gender Critters, I'm not here to do your work for you

It’s almost like you don’t know we have seen you exact argument many, many times before.

If the transphobia was there you would post it. We know it. You know it.

So do it. Be the one to finally shut those noisy mumsnetters up. Show us the proof that will make us all apologise for supporting a blatant transphobe.

I dare ya.

I'll take the 'fact' of 89 at face value, however, the issue here is as follows: No matter what evidence is presented #Transphobia will only be defined by the values that anti-trans people attribute to it. This in itself is good reason not to be dragged down that rabbit hole. Transphobia on platforms like Mumsnet and twitter is well document, and easily referenced. Those who wish to understand will search, and those who don't won't.
Glinner · 27/06/2020 10:34

Oh, another thing that might have led to my suspension. and please do spread this about... I called myself a Wooblybooblysexual in my bio and said my pronouns were Woobly/Boobly

@Reuniono
I used to report posts quite often. Most were deleted. I usually ignore FWR. I find Mumsnet is no longer the entertainment it used to be.

One recent example was the thread about the anti-feminist conference in the US. Really early on one poster linked this to trans activism.

No, no screen shot as I'm not obsessive.

sessell · 27/06/2020 10:35

@glinner thank you. As a big fan of your comedy I've followed you on Twitter for years. You were an early and lone voice first on gamergate and now on this fast emerging trans scandal. You alerted me to both. I've watched the tide slowly turning and see the momentum build. There is still a long way to go. I watched your YouTube with morty and Benji and wonder why you're not promoting it more - it is brilliant, warm and funny. Draws on your strengths. Hope you can use this time off twitter to build that into a branded channel, with an audio-version podcast. I've started following the 'blocked and cancelled' podcast, which is already raising more than £10k a month on patreon - shows there is a large unmet demand for audio/visual material for those of us sick of misogynistic cancel culture.

Tianalia · 27/06/2020 10:35

I've been watching twitter's share prices dropping this week. I wonder why that's happened 🤔

MrBennsshop · 27/06/2020 10:36

You might have missed it, so just in case, the law has changed for #Trans folks. If you care to give the 2010 GRA a look, it's all in there.

I've looked very carefully but am struggling to find a 2010 GRA. Would you be so kind as to point me towards it please? Perhaps you're getting a bit mixed up and you're thinking that the Equality Act 2010 is just for the benefit of trans folk. I can help you with that. Sex is a protected characteristic....

Keep going @Glinner, we appreciate your support.

12boo · 27/06/2020 10:38

Yes "sessell*

midclegs · 27/06/2020 10:38

Adding my support @glinner ESPECIALLY after seeing this just now on Twitter

Twitter has suspended me
Hotcuppatea · 27/06/2020 10:39

@glinner Thanks for standing up for women, even those that don't want you to. I massively appreciate the personal toll this must have taken on you and I'm grateful Brew

Wondersense · 27/06/2020 10:40

I think we've all realised that Twitter is ruled by a certain type of bro. I cannot otherwise explain how women, hundreds of them, have complained over the years about being ignored by Twitter when they complained about sexual harassment, death threats, rape threats, etc. Yet, I hear people being suspended or kicked for doing far less, sometimes for not using the preferred pronoun. It is used to be friendly to women in the early days I think, but no more.

Tianalia · 27/06/2020 10:41

It's well documented by trolls who come here to create such evidence to screenshot.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 27/06/2020 10:42

Those who wish to understand will search, and those who don't won't.

This is all getting a bit cod mystic on fake mountaintop in bad film.

popehilarious · 27/06/2020 10:43

Personally I consider my time more worthwhile than to spend it engaging with a goader who uses hashtags (with no function on here) with the enthusiasm of a recently single dad who's just discovered Being Online.

Anyone else got examples of where concerns about safeguarding got something deleted? The g-word does seem to be a button- pressing word, yet it does have specific definitions, ways of presenting which are all over the place.

Anyone who cared about safeguarding should be well on the case. Interesting to see which orgs either don't understand or don't care about safeguarding principles.

The example I posted above, about a figure in the public eye saying, essentially, that children needed to be educated to not be ashamed of their bodies around others by way of getting rid of boundaries, seems fairly clear cut to me.

popehilarious · 27/06/2020 10:44

(My prev post wasn't a reference to glinner btw! )

Islagiatt · 27/06/2020 10:45

Glinner, thank you. Keep doing what you do.

A perfect demonstration

But I'm on MN FWR almost every day and read many threads. I've seen nothing of the sort, so I would really like you to post something just one comment! to help me see.

If it is so "easily referenced" then it can't be much of an effort to post one, just one, undeleted transphobic comment?

If you asked me for evidence that some of the demands transgenders are making harms or would harm women and girls in an objective (ie not feelings) physical way (ie prisons, sports etc), I'd be running to dig up examples.

littlbrowndog · 27/06/2020 10:47

But isn’t grooming a word used by child protection agencies

It describes what is done to a child

Why are twitter removing this word

I think the police use this word as well

Lamahaha · 27/06/2020 10:48

A perfect demonstration

Except for the fact that they never find anything worth screenshotting!

TheHoneyBadger · 27/06/2020 10:48

Madness.

I am not a twitterer thankfully.
Don’t want to create profits for a company that supports maps and persons screaming suck my lady dick at women they disagree with but bans people for reporting them.
