Twitter has suspended me

Glinner · 27/06/2020 03:16

I'm really sorry to barge in on you Mumsnettters with my problems, but
I've been finally suspended from Twitter and I have a feeling they're either going to ban me or just take my verified tick. I've submitted an appeal with Twitter and the Better Business Bureau but I thought I'd post here too so people knew what was going on.

Recently, I keep being locked out of my account and forced to delete tweets to get back in. The latest tactic by trans rights activists is to run a search for any time I've used the word 'groomer', a phrase Twitter recently decided was Not Allowed.

This was not a violation of Twitter's ToS at the time I used the phrase, and I have been careful to avoid it since. I still use the word 'grooming' in various permutations because I believe that gender ideology is a form of societal grooming. It is a very real threat to the wellbeing of women and children and if our ability to name a threat is removed, it is even more difficult to fight that threat.

You may remember that Twitter similarly removed Canadian feminist Meghan Murphy. She lost her account when she said "that's him" about 'Jessica' Yaniv. Bear in mind that Yaniv was still going under 'Jonathan' at the time, and just as in my case, her crime against Twitter's Terms of Service was not actually an offence at the time she committed it. She probably never thought she could be banned from the public square for uttering the words "that's him". But that's Twitter.

Twitter has a high percentage of trans-identified employees and for some time has been silencing feminists and their allies who run afoul of its absurd 'misgendering' policies. The one good thing about my situation is that I'm in great company--Claire Graham, Meghan Murphy, Skylar Gwynn, Miranda Yardley, GNC Centric and many more, important feminist and critical voices who have been silenced for fighting a dangerous ideology that tells children it's possible to be born into the wrong body.

Anyway, that's what's happening. Please let people know it's entirely down to malicious reporting from the usual suspects and please keep watching my YouTube Channel and visiting my depressing blog. I'll also be available on Glindr if people from Twitter want to re-establish contact there. Hope it's ok to post these links to those destinations

Misgendering is not a thing

MollyAtTheFolly · 27/06/2020 10:21

Another quiet follower here.

After a comment somewhere on Twitter - I think it might have been a 'CAncEl GliNNeR' thread - looked at the @twitter bio - reveals exactly where Twitter's political leanings are.

janetmendoza · 27/06/2020 10:21

So sorry to hear this. Wankers the lot of them! Best wishes to you and yours - and thank you, stick around if you can stomach it x

Steamfan · 27/06/2020 10:21

Just adding to the support for Glinner - and thanks for shining light! A friend of mine had a few days ban on Facebook for using inappropriate words. It was in a conversation about vans. Apparently the accepted version of transit van was not acceptable on FB!

FlamingoAndJohn · 27/06/2020 10:22

#whyaresomanypeople #usinghashtags.
They don’t work here.
It’s not like that.

Institutkarite · 27/06/2020 10:22

Reuniono
Misgendering is a thing, it causes damage especially when ment to purposely hurt
Correctly sexing a person is also a biological truth. "I'd rather be rude than be a fucking liar" thanks Magdalen

I miss Wings Scotland on Twitter. I'm not even a nationalist. He was taken down for posting about trans stuff too.

jellybe · 27/06/2020 10:23
@Reuniono exactly. I find Mumsnet terrifyingly transphobic and do wonder why this has happened.
Please point out any transphobic posts as MN HQ will delete them. Or do you mean it is transphobic for women to discuss things that effect them and the threat to their sex base rights?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 27/06/2020 10:24

So, to be clear, Twitter HQ is OK with pedophiles using their platform as long as they call themselves "MAPs", but pointing out grooming is a no no?

How very interesting. Those unfamiliar with Twitter may want to look up Dana McCallum and consider the influence Dana may have had on Twitter's policies in relation to all this.

@BaronessBrighterThanYou

Could anyone who was up at the time summarise violet's points?

I know a Violet and she's lovely.

It would be impossible to summarise them as they were mostly incoherent babble. Safe to say they were pleased that Glinner had gone.

It's been a while since I last posted on Mumsnet. Back here to give Glinner support.

Thanks @Glinner for all you've done to highlight the sinister behaviour of the MRA/TRA movement and thanks to Mumsnet for providing a forum for us to talk about their intended destruction of women's rights and spaces.

I still have faith that we will prevail. Twitter magnifies these issues and you see the most extreme points of view on both sides, but out there in the real world, the average person does not think for one second that transwomen are women. Let's focus on challenging institutional capture and corporate pandering, rather than getting into drawn pointless Twitter arguments with blue-haired snowflakes.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 27/06/2020 10:25

Oh, is it screenshot harvesting o'clock again?

lionheart · 27/06/2020 10:26

Report anything you consider transphobic or, better yet, challenge it.

That is the nature of adult debate.

Argue your case. Stand your ground.

AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo · 27/06/2020 10:26

Thank you @glinner for speaking up for women. It’s clearly taken a very heavy toll on you professionally and I imagine personally. Your support is very welcome, but I worry for your wellbeing when you’re constantly under attack, trolling and lies.

12boo · 27/06/2020 10:26

Oh dear
That's a bit shit
However, you're doing great Graham and twitter can be a soul sucking pit,
Lots of time wasted on trolls.
I appreciate what you do and I'll keep watching your comedy and your work to amplify the voices of women for women and children

I did spell it wrong, glad you found it.

Misgendering is etiquette. It would be impolite to be in conversation with someone who is presenting entirely as a woman, introduces themselves with a female sounding name, talks about themselves as a woman, and then to start saying 'as a man, you'll understand that...' etc. Of course it would be impolite and the person would be right to call you rude and avoid you. If it were your boss or colleague and consistent, you'd have evidence for a hostile environment type discrimination case, and good luck to you.

But when you have someone who was publicly requiring the law to make women be forced to take someone into their own homes and handle their balls? Etiquette cannot be allowed to override reality.

Prettybluepigeons · 27/06/2020 10:27

Where are all the trans men shouting " transmen are men?" and demanding that they be allowed into men's spaces like saunas or perhaps protesting for the right to inherit a peerage?

Tianalia · 27/06/2020 10:27

Free Speech does not mean a freedom of consequences.

Indeed. Males are free to say they are a women when biology shows us it's not possible to change sex. The consequences are clear, no-one believes those men and people will not be silenced on this. It's a two way street.

YgritteSnow · 27/06/2020 10:27

@Glinner please start a group elsewhere as suggested. I've known of some great success in the past with starting and keeping secure such a group, which led to huge amounts of activism that have thankfully changed the shape of this debate.

Boireannachlaidir · 27/06/2020 10:29

Fucks sake Twitter is sinister. Where is the money behind it?

Thank you @Glinner for all that you do BrewCake

Dhalmeup · 27/06/2020 10:29

Oh, is it screenshot harvesting o'clock again?

We wait with baited breath. Again.

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/06/2020 10:29

I liked in the video where Stephanie said that all the teenagers have now is gender identity rebellion. We used to have hippies, mods, punk, goths, emos. I was an indie/grunge kid and my rebellion was tattoos, and then of course they went main stream 🙄🙄

What’s left in terms of rebellion that hasn’t been done before? Everyone’s become unshockable. Must be very annoying.
