Met Police officer videos toilets at work for Mermaids

She's only been on Twitter for less than two weeks - she also says she's a women's coordinator for the Met - but her timeline is all pro trans tweets including praise for Peter Tatchell, support for 'rainbow crossings' and made up stats that '89% of trans people have considered suicide in the last year(!)'.

But most disturbingly, she's made various videos, seemingly for Mermaids as she's tagged them into her posts, of the men's and women's toilets where she works. She's said the point of these videos is to show what's in the toilets so trans people can feel included - THIS IS NOT WHAT A POLICE OFFICER SHOULD BE DOING.

She's in uniform, what on earth!

LexMitior · 23/02/2020 11:11

Throw this to the Daily Mail; they will doubtless love it after Miller v Hampshire

slipperywhensparticus · 23/02/2020 11:12

Fuck me how is she still working 🤦‍♀️

LouHotel · 23/02/2020 11:20

How are mermaids the charity of choice?

At least stonewall has a generation of history so can be understood how they've grown. How the fuck has mermaids become this powerful entity?

BovaryX · 23/02/2020 11:41

This is astonishing. Public confidence in the police is at an all time low. Why are they not focusing their attention on crime? As in the crimes committed beyond Twitter? Why are they devoting time to promoting the interests of a lobby group?

74NewStreet · 23/02/2020 11:43

A women’s coordinator; spending working hours making men feel comfortable in the women’s toilets... You literally couldn’t make it up.

Xanthangum · 23/02/2020 11:50

She has noticed the heat: twitter.com/katelgbtq/status/1231543880266518528?s=20

"Supporting trans rights is not a political stance, and I'll be touring toilets in support of International womens day and Ramadan too, so there"

testing987654321 · 23/02/2020 11:54

Supporting trans rights is not a political stance, and I'll be touring toilets in support of International womens day and Ramadan too, so there

Wtf does that mean?

74NewStreet · 23/02/2020 11:54

She sounds like a right little airhead; exactly the caliber we need to man the thin blue line Hmm
Wtf does touring toilets in support of Women’s Day and Ramadan mean?? I know what ladies loos look like and I’ve no intention of ever going into the men’s.

What an absolute halfwit.

BovaryX · 23/02/2020 11:57

Of course it's political. Stonewall is a lobby group. The agenda is political. Why aren't the police investigating crimes instead of taking pictures of their toilets for Mermaids?

BovaryX · 23/02/2020 11:57

Wtf does touring toilets in support of Women’s Day

It's ludicrous. What a frickin joke

jadefinch · 23/02/2020 11:59

She's also tweeted that it's not OK to ask someone what their former name was, as this is 'transphobic'.

Think of all the criminals who have evaded capture by changing their name. Think of Jill Dando - the reason why the forensics on Barry George were useless was because it took them years to arrest him because they didn't realise he was the same person they were looking for, because he'd changed his name. Two years of the investigation was wasted because of this.

So that's a police officer telling people that they can't do something that's perfectly legal - even though it's a tactic used by criminals to get away with committing crimes.

RunSkipJump · 23/02/2020 12:00

Wtf?
It was a shit video anyway - you couldn't see the toilet block as her face took up most of the screen.
Why are professions, with supposedly intelligent people, involved in this?

BadgertheBodger · 23/02/2020 12:00

What the fuck?! What on earth has Ramadan got to do with toilets?

For crying out loud

BringbackLang · 23/02/2020 12:01

It is political and she shouldn't be doing it. Another glaring example of why the public don't trust the police anymore.

allmywhat · 23/02/2020 12:07

She's said the point of these videos is to show what's in the toilets so trans people can feel included

WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING HERE.

Did a trans person tell her that they would feel included and validated if she could video her work toilets for them? Hmm

this person should not be a police officer.

ifonlyus · 23/02/2020 12:13

What on earth? Why? Who does this help? Hmmm, perhaps a predatory man who will be thrilled to have had someone else scope out the layout of the toilets before they enter.

BovaryX · 23/02/2020 12:14

this person should not be a police officer

I hope this is reported in the Daily Mail. Public confidence in the police is at an all time low. Is it any surprise when cops are obediently taking pictures of their own toilets to send to a political lobby group?

marvellousnightforamooncup · 23/02/2020 12:14

Iim sure most trans people would realise what's in a toilet all by themselves. I'm guessing bogs, sinks, dryers, doors, bins.

74NewStreet · 23/02/2020 12:16

Maybe some helpful citizen could alert the Mail? This yoke is a fucking disgrace (I’d say a disgrace to the uniform if it didn’t make me sound like my own granny).

Changename5000 · 23/02/2020 12:17

Just shocking, I hope someone reports to her Chief Constable

HandsOffMyRights · 23/02/2020 12:19

Take screenshots, forward to Fair Cop.This is disturbing behaviour.

BovaryX · 23/02/2020 12:22

Yes HandsOffMyRights
This should be reported to Fair Cop

Chiochan · 23/02/2020 12:22

Seemingly sensible people doing things that, to any unbiased outside observer, are unhinged, to prove they are more devoted than the next accolite is what happens in a cult.

She has a look in her eye of desperation mixed with anticipation of all the prase she thinks she is about to recieve, like a trained dog or abused child, its something I never thought Id see but am seeing more and more.

allmywhat · 23/02/2020 12:25

I'm guessing bogs, sinks, dryers, doors, bins.

also a shower cubicle to "get your bits and bobs out" according to Officer Obvious!

That "bits and bobs" was an odd moment. I have to say the whole thing set off my creep radar in a way I don't normally experience with women.
