Met Police officer videos toilets at work for Mermaids

She's only been on Twitter for less than two weeks - she also says she's a women's coordinator for the Met - but her timeline is all pro trans tweets including praise for Peter Tatchell, support for 'rainbow crossings' and made up stats that '89% of trans people have considered suicide in the last year(!)'.

But most disturbingly, she's made various videos, seemingly for Mermaids as she's tagged them into her posts, of the men's and women's toilets where she works. She's said the point of these videos is to show what's in the toilets so trans people can feel included - THIS IS NOT WHAT A POLICE OFFICER SHOULD BE DOING.

There is a really weird bit in the second video

twitter.com/katelgbtq/status/1227858674519068672?s=20

She says "this is the boys... I've checked, there's no-one in there.... I'm not after a..." and doesn't finish the phrase.

Not after a what?

JeremyCorbynsTopLip · 23/02/2020 14:23

Why tf does she say 'low sinks', do some women actually not know the name of a urinal?

Findumdum1 · 23/02/2020 14:33

What an absolute thicko!

Does she really think men dont know what women's toulets look like or vice versa? And what is the relevance anyway?

I've been in loads of mens toilets, mainly in my clubbing days. I avoid them now, for hygiene reasons, but I'd happily use them if I had to. They're for bodily functions. All this fetishizing toilets is starting to make me think perhaps individual, lockable unisex cubicles (cleaned regularly) are the way to go.

StealthMama · 23/02/2020 15:15

and help them build up their "list of names" that much quicker ...

Or stay silent and let this all happen?

I'm happy to be with on a list of trans supportive women standing up for women's rights, the two things aren't mutually exclusive.

SerendipityJane · 23/02/2020 15:36

I was thinking more of the lists of non-criminals the police are keeping, just in case anyone needs a DBS check.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/02/2020 15:52

I suspect she's attempting to accumulate wokepoints for her professional portfolio (do police officers have those?)

Evidence of her wokeness and do-goodery for her next appraisal.

Evidence of some actual policing might be a better idea, I would have thought.

DuchessDumbarton · 23/02/2020 16:04

The faux prudishness gentility about naming urinals....what's that about?

Men have penises (penii?) from which they urinate into urinals.

It's not a secret.

DuchessDumbarton · 23/02/2020 16:05

And what is with filming toilets?
Even if I wanted to see the interior (and I don't, as I've visited many public and workplace loos) I can't see much, as her head is in the way.

Have I read her thread incorrectly....I took that she is the LGBT officer for incoming students and that her remit was to demystify the provision for students who are LGBT?

If so, then, why, oh why, start with filming toilets?

SerendipityJane · 23/02/2020 16:06

Men have penises (penii?) from which they urinate into urinals.

Well they try.

Bless.

Someone who want to get the police involved in their fetish has got the police involved in their fetish.

LizzieSiddal · 23/02/2020 16:16

Wtf! It’s just all so baffling.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 23/02/2020 16:23

Has somebody archived her twitter feed and those vids? I'm trying to remember how to do it ...

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 23/02/2020 16:52

captainkirk has nailed it. Someone with a fetish has asked her to film in the women's toilets for them - making up a sad sad story about feeling unsafe and unincluded, of course - and PC Common-sense over here has gone along with it. I predict that the footage will not be used for savory purposes. If I were her colleague I'd be fucking livid. Some people are just spectacularly naive.

LynnSchmob · 23/02/2020 17:01

She’s a useful idiot (that we are paying for)

OverByYer · 23/02/2020 17:11

She is an embarrassment to her profession.
‘ Bits and bobs out’ ffs is she 12?

Whatisthisfuckery · 23/02/2020 17:20

There’s a disturbingly creepy quality to those videos, like she’s aiming them at a child, or as if she’s behaving like a child on purpose herself. I’m not even going to attempt to speculate on why she did them but they get the hairs on the back of my neck up.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 23/02/2020 17:24

I have reported this unprofessional officer to the Met but I'd like a screenshot as I fear she'll delete the Tweet when she realises what a bad light she has put herself in.

I don't know how to do screenshots on my phone and would be grateful if someone else could take one.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 23/02/2020 17:25

'Getting your bits and bobs out' is just a very, very odd way to describe getting changed. Almost anybody, I would imagine, wouldn't describe it like this if they're just talking about changing clothes. Why on earth the focus on the body, on certain body parts, even?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 23/02/2020 17:25

I can screenshot, Prawn, which bit? The vids should be archived, but I can't work out the archive.it site at all.

74NewStreet · 23/02/2020 17:28

It certainly seems aimed at those for whom the only purpose of scoping out the ladies loos would be to see some bits and bobs. Or more likely, to display their own bits and bobs to an unwilling audience 🤢
Either the silly cow is to dumb to see this, or she’s totally complicit.
Shameful.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 23/02/2020 17:29

We used to have an excellent regular poster who was something quite senior in the police force. Can anyone remember her user name? I don’t like to use the @ function regularly but sometimes it’s useful!

Perhaps she is still her under a different name? It can be hard to keep track!

Whatisthisfuckery · 23/02/2020 17:29

Like I said, odd childlike language. Girls and boys toilets? Presumably these toilets are in a police station, so for adult men and women? It’s all a bit.. odd.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 23/02/2020 17:31

And wtf is 'chemsex'?

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 23/02/2020 17:42

Chemsex is a gay-sex-on-drugs cultural phenomenon thing, sometimes it means parties and sometimes it’s just internet dates.

It puts some men in very vulnerable positions and men have died.

www.pinknews.co.uk/2018/09/29/police-chief-boyfriend-chemsex-ghb/

Stephen Port (Serial killer) used chemsex as an excuse for having possession of dead bodies and a policeman was actually murdered by someone he met via a hook up app.
