And has effectively also said that Women's Place and the LGB Alliance (essentially groups for women, gays and lesbians to meet and discuss women's, gay and lesbian issues) are hate groups and them meeting are hate crimes

Sane*

BringbackLang · 11/02/2020 15:18

I hope WPUK and LGB Alliance sue for slander

Tootsweets23 · 11/02/2020 15:18

They are both just so fucking dense. No wonder they flat share. For the reasons outlined above, even if you wholeheartedly believe TWAW (except they don't) it is just such dumb politics to back this - the wokerati members are already voting for them both (or RLB and Burgon), and the non-woke will be repelled by supporting such offensive drivel.

Mockersisrightasusual · 11/02/2020 15:19

Truth be told, Rayner is a bit thick. Not an impediment to advancement in Momentum Labour if you read the handouts aloud.

Arseaboutdarkly · 11/02/2020 15:19

Cider and black

I'm not saying Keir is totally free of this crap, I think he basically fudged the questions in the webchat (admit i haven't read it properly) but he strikes me as a much more pragmatic, rational person so, once installed, more likely to tell people pushing this agenda to fuck off.

jadefinch · 11/02/2020 15:22

This is happening more and more as a result of these pledges.

Women are being shamed and effectively accused of bigotry for the crimes of .. being biologists who talk at conferences about biology without ensuring that biological males could also speak.

Men are compiling lists of women who must be silenced.

Starmer knows what he's doing. His adoption of the slogan Trans Rights Are Human Rights was a conscious one to avoid any hostages to fortune.

Arseaboutdarkly · 11/02/2020 15:24

Well, i've emailed Rayner to tell her what I think and that I can never support her while she supports that agenda.

Won't make any difference but it's important to say it anyway. As others have pointed out, being in a bubble where everyone agrees with each other is part of the problem.

TheRealMcKenna · 11/02/2020 15:31

Well, this is sure to win back Bolsover....

MrsWednesdayteatime · 11/02/2020 15:34

I don't believe TWAW & I'm still a member of the Labour Party & I'm not leaving #nodebate

I wonder how many of the men signing and supporting the pledge believe "TWAW but not for relationship purposes", happy to give away womens boundaries but want to keep their own.

MenopauseIsMySuperPower · 11/02/2020 15:36

I find the use of the word 'Accept' interesting in these pledges, it's almost like they know no one believes it really but you must go along with the official line regardless

calllaaalllaaammma · 11/02/2020 15:51

They pretend to be a political party but they are just a pressure group now pushing it’s own agenda. They’re not interested in representing the electorate.

FreezerBird · 11/02/2020 15:52

My local labour candidate is the last election doesn't believe TWAW. I expect to see her tarred and feathered in the town square forthwith.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 11/02/2020 15:59

For those of us who'll be voting in the leadership election, who are you picking for deputy?
Because Rayner just lost my vote so now I'm not sure who to go for.

MsMcWibble · 11/02/2020 16:04

Disgusting. They deserve to never get a vote from a woman ever again.
If they're making lists they had better be careful.
And I hope they get sued.
Ex member here.

Mockersisrightasusual · 11/02/2020 16:08

Well there's Dawn Butler....?

More reasonably, Rosina Alin Khan is a GP, not that it helped Sarah Wollastone with this issue.

RuffleCrow · 11/02/2020 16:09

Erm, just no.

Valanice1989 · 11/02/2020 16:14

This is absolutely insane. Labour is just making itself more and more un-electable. The percentage of the population who believes that women have penises is tiny - I'm fairly sure that if you polled everyone in the UK on that question, 95-99% would answer no. Actually, I'm being generous there: I'd say it's more like 98-99%. Yet Labour is saying that everyone outside that minority should be expelled from the party!

If Prince Philip announced today that he identifies as Princess Philippa, would anyone really believe that he's been subject to misogyny and patriarchal oppression for all of his 98 years? Would anyone really believe that he and the Queen have been in a lesbian marriage for 72 years? No one would. No one really believes any of this stuff, not deep down.

ZuttZeVootEeeVro · 11/02/2020 16:18

Well, this is sure to win back Bolsover....

Do they really believe that that they lost, and created marginals out of solid labour seats, by not pushing identity politics hard enough?

I'm not sure which seats they aim to win with these policies.

Mockersisrightasusual · 11/02/2020 16:20

They plan to win the argument (again.)

bellinisurge · 11/02/2020 16:21

Cheerio, then.

bellinisurge · 11/02/2020 16:23

"1. Why are transwomen singled out and not transmen?"

Yes, I noticed that too. Hmm

TheRealMcKenna · 11/02/2020 16:27

I don’t think they really care about winning elections any more. If the voters don’t like the policies, they are bigots. End of story. Who needs bigots when you have virtue on your side?

To quote Stephen Fry “they think it’s more important to be correct than to be effective”.

Arseaboutdarkly · 11/02/2020 16:31

I like Allin-Khan, she also seems very grounded and rational, but she's got a big struggle for attention against the other candidates
