Sorry for my fairly lame question to Emily for the webchat tomorrow. Hope you managed to get in better questions?

As far as I'm aware, that's the first time I've ever had a post deleted.

SarahTancredi · 05/02/2020 15:57

Well that was the worst question avoidance I think I've ever seen

MrsSnippyPants · 05/02/2020 16:03

If anyone has any screenshots they would be willing to share with me, please send me a DM. I am going to tweet a LOT about this tomorrow!

PenguindreamsofDraco · 05/02/2020 16:05

My post was definitely on this thread because I didn't post anything on the webchat! And I got deleted for not adhering to the webchat guidelines.

BirdintheWings · 05/02/2020 16:06

That answer about transwomen in men's prisons is almost word for word the answer I got from a friend who is actively involved in campaigning to get a transwoman moved to a women's prison.

I honestly think that Friend had never once thought about the women on the receiving end, just considered the women's prison as a nice empty space, free from men who might bully a vulnerable [client? project?].

Possibly not coincidentally, my friend has a trans stepchild.

BirdintheWings · 05/02/2020 16:08

And as for that snidey answer about 'Don't fear for your daughter, she may have to share facilities with boys and want a mastectomy but at least she'll be Nicer Than You'!

Words fail me.

NeurotrashWarrior · 05/02/2020 16:08

Just catching up.

So.

Emily believes in AWSL. We need a woman to be a PM.

And yet

world that is more tolerant and understanding and perhaps has learnt from feminism that we can all be different and it's OK.

So we can't have a different sort of woman pm? The sort with male genes?

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/02/2020 16:18

Yep, Emily I can see exactly what kind of a leader and PM you'd make.

And you've given me yet another very good and immediate reason to vote in any way to avoid a Labour govt. Female people have rights too, and your attitude towards them is terrifying.

Snow thank goodness for you and your positivity embracing kittens and rainbows messages on every thread.

midclegs · 05/02/2020 16:19

I just saw this, it's apt.

Oh, hold on, my message was deleted on this thread, too. I have no idea why. Don't even remember what it said. Doubt it was inflammatory.

I thought MN's email was talking about the disappeared post on the webchat.

  • Wait, was it one about a dinner lady? Seriously?!
Michelleoftheresistance · 05/02/2020 16:33

Well I wonder who reported that, Scrim ?

And who would not want that to be seen? Hmm. It's a puzzle.

PenguindreamsofDraco · 05/02/2020 16:35

Mine was about David the Dinner Lady.

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/02/2020 16:38

Her walloping great gaff about virtuously setting out 'policy shouldn't be made in back rooms' and 'we must talk to the voters and represent their real needs' and then demonstrating 'But THAT policy definitely needs to come from the back room' and 'But not THOSE voters' and 'but only the 'real needs' the back room made policies agree with' was a bit painful really.

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/02/2020 16:41

And that was before we got to the gem of the primary purpose of female prisons being, in Emily's opinion, to safeguard males.

There just aren't enough biscuits.

HumphreyCobblers · 05/02/2020 16:58

Those comments that disappear as if they have never been = uncomment

Just been reading 1984

SawingForTeens · 05/02/2020 17:05

Oh my, so today I have had my first web chat uncomment.

Like being blooded.

KatyCarrCan · 05/02/2020 17:13

I was reading the end of the webchat as it was happening (By the time I'd typed my post, it had been finished and locked down) and I didn't even see those posts that were erased. They must have been absolutely on top of them.

BatShite · 05/02/2020 17:34

The 'transwomen will be in danger in mens prisons' when asking about the safety of women if men are imprisoned with them is standard sadly. No cares at all about the women, some of whom have already been raped and sexually assaulted due to this nonsense. Much concern for the poor male person who would be bullied in a male prison for being 'gender non conforming'. However, many men get picked on in mens prisons, for many reasons. Its not right, however, is the solution really to move all of these men (gay men, disabled men, short men, 'pretty men' etc) into the womens prisons instead?! Of course not. Its ridiculous, however its the soundbyte that they think is popular. Any question about womens rights (if allowed to be asked, as apparently womens rights can be summed up in one or two questions and any more is haranguing Confused ) will be responded to with the ridiculous 'trans rights are human rights' nonsense. Of course they are, thats not the fucking question...caring about women appears to be becoming taboo. And MN and their new guidelines, banning regular FWR posters who post decently;y (never saw lang insult anyone, ever) seem to be complicit. I can't see it any other way. I understand they have come under massive pressure for years now for letting women speak, so I do wonder whats changed recently? Why the capitulating to MRAs, rather than standing up to them, as has been done in the past?

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/02/2020 18:15

As usual with the mens' prisons, never a seconds' thought about 'what could we do about men's prisons to stop them being a hell hole for TW?'

Actually there's a MNetter who has posted having been in a male prison, who explained in detail how it was wholly possible and an every day reality to provide containment and care for a prisoner right away from the male population.

Says a lot that the only response to males in female prisons is to wholly vanish the population the prisons were designed to serve, and refocus them wholly on males. A child could spot the issues. Just no time for any politician this thick.

Michelleoftheresistance · 05/02/2020 18:16

Maybe the Labour party should have t shirts:

People With Penises Are More Important.

BlackForestCake · 05/02/2020 18:21

Holy suffering fuck, Thornberry is even worse than the others.

Peter Sutcliffe has been seriously assaulted several times in prison, perhaps he should be moved to a women's prison too!

DavidTheDinnerLady · 05/02/2020 18:29

MN webchats were once legendary, now they're a bit of a damp squib.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 05/02/2020 18:31

Grin Well, hello there, Dave. How's things with you?
