I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Quite snow. They're usually banned for speaking the (occasionally uncomfortable) truth and after targeted mass reporting by TRAs.

No Snowblight. It's usually because someone has targeted them, there is a pile on or someone dislikes what they have said and hasn't the nouse to argue their point in a constructive manner other than repeat slogans and disproven statistics. #Nodebate after all.

You know, I love Mumsnet, don't post much but read every day, but this site has completely lost it's way - what is the point of the place if they remove everyone worth reading?
Even the derailers and the trolls have their place when they take the discussion into new directions but the bloody Monitors can go to hell and the 'special rules' are just chilling. Lang is over on Spinster, along with quite a few of the FWR exiles and Twatter refugees.

Thank you for posting this ROwantrees and welcome back. I'd love to see more of this if it could be arranged; maybe a whole thread devoted Lang's posts from the past. If nothing else it would highlight how those posts were not in any way offensive but say eloquently what needs to be said. I re-repost this too as it's so bang on.

I only come to MN for the FWR posts these days (well, that and lurking on the Litter Tray, which is a scary place with good pictures).

It's been eye-opening. I haven't always agreed. I'm definitely not a Rad Fem. But FWR seems one of the few places that cares in the round for the wellbeing of children and young people, not women alone.

Can I recommend not engaging with goading from people who have had a large number of goads deleted and who contribute absolutely nothing to the discussion about women's rights? Your energy and attention is too valuable to waste on such nonsense.

I’m a (volunteer) moderator on a message board (a million miles from MN) los I have an inkling of the delicate balancing act that is required.

But this banning is a step too far, and I say this because if you search “LangCleg” on Twitter you’ll find Joss Prior boasting about being in consultations with @MNHQ about getting rid of LangCleg and in discussions about others.

Now, I suspect a lot of this is masculine-style bragadaccio. We all know how deep toxic masculine privilege runs and how bad some people are at actually identifying in terms of empathy.

But if even a half of what Joss Prior is claiming is accurate, then SHAME ON YOU, @MNHQ You have allowed yourselves to be bullied by a boastful none-too-bright tosser.

Like I said can you point me in the direction of said abuse?

I feel betrayed all over again this morning.

We already have to walk on egg shells to not be 'transphobic' because it's affecting the bottom line.

But now dialogue over how you're having to tie yourself in knots, and still be punished - that absolutely feel like control.

This site is not pre moderated. It's only moderated by people who object to what you're saying. So as much as they might want to separate the reason they have banned Lang, from what Twitter bully boys are trying to do, they can't.

They may not openly be talking to people on Twitter. But they are absolutely being reported by people on Twitter.

People who will lurk here, go on the baby names board for a bit, maybe AIBU, look completely normal, and then send a faux innocent report. And they will have 10 or 20 of these.

Individual monitors can't possibly spend as much time on here are some of the people who post. And they are not seeing the theme.

They've opened up reporting to anyone who wants to, and then are buckling under the number of reports, diluting both their judgement and time.

The whole model needs reworking.

What an absolutely shite decision MNHQ. Get her back.

Or are you just annoyed that many GC women persist in recognising the sex of all transwomen? That most women still object to having to share private, single ex spaces with a man with AGP who gets his rocks off watching women be uncomfortable yet be too polite to say anything?
