I am a long time lurker but infrequent poster here but I needed to bring this to everyone's attention.
I have found out that Mumsnet HQ have banned the fabulous LangCleg simply for repeatedly pointing out the repeated times coercive control has been used by the moderators to stop women talking.
I understand it started with a conversation when a post was deleted because she allegedly used a sweeping generalisation but they couldn't or wouldn't confirm the generalisation and when she challenged them they decided to ban her on the basis of previous comments.

So it now seems pointing out coercive control is now grounds for being banned, thus proving that coercive control is being used.

I for one would like @MumsnetHQ to provide an explanation here as this is really not on

(also taking bets on how long before the thread is deleted)

Apologies if I've missed someone else saying this, but I wonder if JP has a typo in that tweet and it should be MN said "the support that Lang has" not "is"? To me, it makes much more sense (although I don't expect a lot of sense from JP to start with). Certainly, the support that Lang has is shown by this thread.

(I actually like Hebe and imagine she is furious about being portrayed as hand in glove with JP. When MNHQ went back to personally replying to reports I quite liked the interaction and have had some funny exchanges; no doubt this is another thing that will go and they may go back to the earlier policy of not responding, so we can blame TRA for ruining MN yet a bit more).

So Spinster is Plan B? I'm off to investigate.

Incidentally, as I was typing @ LangCleg, autocorrect gave me 9 options of names that now incorporate LangCleg. She may not be here in person, but her spirit lives on!

Lang was targeted to cause agitation on here. MN have been played. At least we know that threads on safeguarding of children / coercive control need to be increased on here, because apparently that's a problem for some people. Maybe more posting out on the other MN boards about it too.

@ruby2020 had Lang said anything transphobic that might be a valid point. But it is not what she said, or, as far as I can see, why she was banned.

I'd like to offer another monotonous drone of "care to show us anything, anything remotely transphobic that applies to this poster?". I'm confident you'll find feck all. Unless you count genuine safeguarding concerns in which case you're the problem.

It's inspiring how the banning of one great poster (and the return of another) has prompted so many lurkers or names that aren't as familiar to FWR to pop up and add support. Welcome!
And of course some GFs who as usual have no examples of wrong doing to cite.

Are you trying to scare women from discussing how we are losing our rights to safety, dignity and privacy, by banning amazing, considerate and decent posters like LangCleg, MNHQ? Are you too afraid to simply tell us to shut up, because the men are giving you a hard time? How many more posters are you letting the TRA’s target MNHQ. How about giving us a list of those that are being repeatedly targeted, so at least they are given us a heads up. You know that’s happening and no amount of woolly words about people breaking guildlines are believed any more. You’re happily doing the TRA’s dirty work for them and doing a Pontius Pilate doesn’t keep your hands clean.

Is it just me or is the lack of response from MNHQ to all these posts a little bit like that of M&S after people asked them to rethink their changing room policy?

Have investigated Spinster. My tech phobic brain is aching slightly.

The lack of response is astounding, given the claim made, that a previously banned poster has been in discussion with mods for for weeks, sharing FWR names he finds 'toxic'.

Surely it's the work of moments to pop on here and make it clear that no such thing happened, and that JP is lying, if that's the case?

Hopefully we will start seeing posts from a new member on MN who just happens to be an expert in safeguarding?

Actually, if this latest debacle caused discussion of TRA related attempts to undermine safeguarding regulations to move to the specifically child related boards that would be an excellent result. AIBU too. If one were of a Machiavellian disposition one might even consider which boards the redtops are most likely to be browsing for leads.

Please can I ask if Spinster is easier or harder to "read" or use than Twitter? I struggled with Twitter (and I wasn't even there that long ) as you had to keep clicking on different things to read a conversation, I have a poor working/short term memory and struggled a lot.

I like MN so much because (apart from you lot being fucking brilliant of course ) it's so straightforward and you just scroll up and down

I mean, it could be worse. At least it isn't Tumblr, where the interface seems to have been designed by the same demon who created the London ring road in Good Omens.

I find Spinster really hard to use, sadly.
Maybe I just have to spend more time there to get the hang.

I don't know what to say really. Just what the rest of you have been saying. If a poster as considered and diplomatic as Lang can get banned then there is little hope for others.

If MN cannot see how they are being controlled there is little hope for this site.
